Should WAGS and Families be on the pitch?

It has ****all to do with jealousy, for me the celebration was spoilt by allowing the families on the pich while the trophy was being paraded. The families have no direct link to us having won the league so don't deserve my thanks and support. My 9 year old lad was bored rigid waiting for the trophy to make its way arouhd te pitch to SK1.

So because your 9 year old son was bored, are you suggesting a pitch invasion is justified so you could get closer to the trophy. Whilst people are entitled to do as they please, within the law, being bored surely isn't a justification for getting closer to the trophy. Furthermore, some of those in the family stand and parts of the West Stand who waited patiently for much longer than those in SK1 had their moment taken away by others selfish behaviour. Whilst I tend to agree that I'm not convinced why families have to be part of the parade, it has become somewhat a tradition at the Walkers / KP Stadium.

I still can't see the problem with going on the pitch, it's traditional at the end of the season. People saying that children may get distressed by it is laughable.

Some people just look for anything to moan about!

It's the timing of it. Having listened to what people of said I do think it could've been done a bit later and it would've worked for everyone.

Traditional - when did it last happen at the KP?

We haven't had one for a while but at the end of a successful season it's natural to flock onto the pitch.

I think it's pretty obvious that a lack of success is the reason for that rather than it not being traditional.

There was no pitch invasion after the players paraded the League 1 trophy, unless you don't class this as success? But the posted said it was traditional - traditional suggests it happens every year which clearly it doesn't, whilst the players parading with their families does.

Where did I say a pitch invasion was justified?

I didn't go on the pitch, I never had any intention of going on the pitch, I wanted to applaud my team as they paraded the trophy, I wanted my 9 year old to make a proper connection with the club and players by watching them celebrate with the trophy.

Don't jump to conclusions.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it

Remind me again who won the Championship this year? Was it you or was it in fact the men who play for Leicester City Football Club?

Did the families win it?

Who helps pay the players salaries?

The connection should be between the players and the fans, the families shouldn't be involved, I wanted to applaud the winners of the trophy not watch the families, they will celebrate later with the players, I don't get that chance.

Apologies - it just came across that way. I do take your point that the players and families did take a long time to start the parade around the pitch and it did seem a little disjointed, but I still don't agree with the pitch invasion in that some people were being selfish in not letting others see the parade completed.

The players were allowed 1 adult and their kids or 2 adults if they didn't have kids. Its not like their whole family are on. It was clearly obvious that the fans were going to be allowed on after the players had left. Strangely was it not the Family stand that broke ranks first??

Im sure that had they been allowed to get round they then might have gone up into the stand and show the trophy off to make more of the celebrations.

I tend to agree with this, however, since the Walkers/KP has been our home players and families have paraded around the pitch. Not sure if we are trying to portray our image as a family club or something that the players have suggested. But I tend to agree, would just prefer the players sharing their success with the fans (although some of the WAGS were quite tasty  )

Can't say I enjoyed hearing thousands abuse their fellow fans. The bloke stood next didn't seem to like it when I explained to him that zero damage had been caused.

Apart from a injured steward near SK1.

Can't help but feel the need to point out that it wasn't the families who won it either

My point it the players' families are more important to them that we are. We got to celebrate with them, they just happened to be there as well.

Bottom line I think it was stupid. Maybe it makes sense at the final whistle but when it's like that it was clearly a bit weird.

Some of the comments in this topic are awful. Some fans really showing their true colours. For some of you to think it's okay to run onto the pitch mid lap and terrify the kids just because their dad earns more than you?

Frankly it's pathetic, I witnessed a grown man tearing the turf up, it's grass mate. Some of you have really let the club down.

The thread is about whether the families should be on the pitch, not whether we should invade while they were on the pitch. You're trying to make it out to be something it isn't.

As soon as the players and families started walking round, when people had already been on and were just waiting, I could see it happening. A little common sense wouldn't have gone amiss from whoever decided it would be a good idea to have little kids out there given what had gone before.

With regard to the actual lap, it was a waste of time and no-one missed anything. As others have said it was just a load of people (including a load of academy players) walking round chatting. From L1 I couldn't really see the trophy (the second occasion after the lifting was blocked by the Sky Bet podium) and couldn't make out what Birch was shouting over the tannoy. I'd actually go as far to say that going on the pitch and getting a few photos of the day from down there was the only worthwhile part of the whole celebration.

In terms of whether the families should have been down there then no, they shouldn't. The lap of honour is for the players and them alone in the sense that it's about them sharing their success with the supporters, they can share stuff with their family for the other 99% of time. Yes their family may support them as human beings but as professionals it's the players who do the business. If we're starting to include everyone crucial to their success and well-being then let's get the agents down there, their accountants and their cleaners.

The comment about the families providing the moral support after the Brighton game by someone earlier in this thread was laughable. If by support you mean a few paracetamol to cure the hangover which lead to that disgraceful performance then, yeah, it could well have been the families that provided that. I'm not going to be applauding them on a lap of honour for that however.

You clearly missed Pearson's post match interview in which he clearly stated how important it was for him to share the moment with his family. Sadly for the sake of a few minutes waiting the selfish minority somewhat tarnished the day for the majority. Never mind though it is pretty typical of society as a whole these days.

Shame really as it has been a fantastic season and now we have fan against fan. Maybe we should just move on now and look forwards to next season.

Right, so I'm the only one who's posted such am I?

The families on the pitch thing on the last day(or last home game ) of the season happens at every club. It's nots just a LCFC thing at all

Shouldn't  happen at those clubs either.  Just another crap sanitised part of mod£rn football much like playing music after goals. And I know people have already mentioned it but by God does it need repeating, this whole "tradition" was started by that c**t Wise and we should have nothing to do with anything that tosser initiated!!

Don't understand why fans couldn't have waited 5 more mins ! put yourself in their situation if you had a small child with you and hundreds of ppl running at you wouldn't you be a bit pissed off ! Boring hell. Did it 'ruin' your ickle day out?

Ah, so you are one of the little stupid kiddies, that spoilt the celebrations.

Time to get a brain, sonny.

I wonder if at the end of last season when Sir Alex Ferguson paraded around the pitch at Old Trafford how many Man Utd fans questioned why his grandkids were on the pitch with him after all they didn't play last season either
