Should WAGS and Families be on the pitch?

Recommended Posts

Some of the comments in this topic are awful. Some fans really showing their true colours. For some of you to think it's okay to run onto the pitch mid lap and terrify the kids just because their dad earns more than you?

Frankly it's pathetic, I witnessed a grown man tearing the turf up, it's grass mate. Some of you have really let the club down.

This 100%

Nothing to do with the pitch invasion but I don't particular feel the need to parade my Mrs and kids around my customers when I have a good year.

Perhaps subsequent years would be even better if you did? :P

We are way off topic, but am I really the only one who has been to corporate events - celebrations, end of year parties, Christmas, - where employees turn up with their partners, (and occasionally children), to share the moment???? Why should LCFC be any different?

You need to look up the definition of "liberal"

Not in to political shit, but in my eyes the liberals are do gooding twats, and that's what a lot on this forum come across.

What a nice game football has become, let's no get involved in anything, other than what the club said we can do.

Was going to post something similar but thought it would be shot down by all the I'll do what I want brigade.

It's a place of work. If I take my kids to work I expect them to be safe whilst with me.

I accept that it was all in good spirit to start with but I saw plenty of fights break out both at the ground and later in town. The players didn't know what nutters had run on.

I also had friends in the family stand who never got to clap the players. His 5 y/o and 9y/o had their days ruined.

but it seems a lot on here don't give a shit about that. As they got to run on some grass.

shame.

Maybe those people can let me know when they have kids and I will pop round with a load of pissed up mates to **** up their birthday parties, graduation balls, or job promotions.

But that's the whole  point, it Isn't anything to do with politics when it's a small l. It means a person who is not strict in the observance of orthodox ways, who is broad minded and tolerant and not bound by authority. The people you claim to be liberal, in your opinion should appear the exact opposite of the definition of liberal.

To be fair yes football has become a nice friendly family orientated sport where racism and fighting is now frowned upon, if people wish to still continue these pastimes there are plenty of boxing and mixed martial arts organisations where people can constructively do this. The problem with many football fans who want to do this though they only want to do it if they have 1000 other blokes there and aload of Police and stewards as backup to do it.

So kids are frightened, but at least you enjoyed yourself though right.

Some of the grown men I saw running on the pitch jumping up and down in that 1st pitch invasion was quite frankly embarrassing.

Also I think a lot of people are forgetting a steward got injured and required medical attention due to the 2nd pitch imvasion.

I thought the steward was injured on the first invasion

He was.

Spent the whole time the presentation was going on getting treatment. Then walked off holding his wrist.

Should Wags/familys be allowed on the pitch? Yes!

Generally when a pitch invasion happens, it's a spontaneous moment once the referee has blown the final whistle, once cleared then that allows the players to enjoy the occasion with their loved ones.

This wasn't spontaneous, it was a group of idiot's that thought they had every right to invade the pitch on not one, but two occasions.

The players clearly want to revel in moments of joy with their loved ones around them and rightly so, not mobbed by a bunch of numbnuts that want selfies to brag about on social networking sites.

Well said, but the pea brained pitch invaders don't have respect for anyone, not even for themselves no doubt.

It's like trying to get a chimpanzee to stop swinging through the trees.  Mind you, a chimpanzee has far greater intelligence than our pitch invading dross.

WAGs and families are a marketing affectation and there is no more reason for them to be there than the fans themselves. It was the same with bus tour today. We were not cheering the WAGS and the children may get impression they are superior to the fans below them which is not good for them.

The celebrations are between fans and players. I suspect players feel obliged these days to be accompanied by their families and families would feel snubbed if not invited but it is disingenuous because no-one is there to see them. There is more than a whiff of superiority on the faces of some WAGs as if they have achieved something special by being with a successful footballer when in fact their rightful place is to be cheering from the sidelines with everyone else.

It is all a product of marketing the game and a somewhat irritating one at that.

Lots of differing opinions on the pitch invasion on Saturday, of which I have expressed mine in other threads.

But to the people who did, and those that think it was the correct thing to do. Apart from spoiling it for the many thousands of fans who stayed in their seats to cheer the players, upsetting players and their families, ripping the staging to pieces, dis obeying the wishes of the club, what actual positives did it achieve?

I realise the club could have announced that the fans would be allowed on the pitch after the lap of honour, but quite frankly if they had done I doubt it would have made any difference.

Your wasting your time mate, you would have better luck explaining quantum physics to a chimp

They no more support their husbands and boyfriends to play football than their husbands support them to do their job.

Which from you vast knowledge (perving) is what exactly.

Are the all wags? Are they stay at home mums? Do they have jobs which entail there husbands supporting them?

The club clearly asked and allowed it. So why the **** are they not entitled.

My wife supports me and I support her.

If I achieve something and it entails a public function. I wouldn't even bother going if I couldn't take her.

Most on here seem to have a very strange view on what the players have just achieved. They live in a lovely lifestyle. Yes. But i guess having all that money and adulation takes it's toll too. They don't come cry on our shoulders.

They go home like most of us and take it out on their partners and families.

Chris wood still was in casino saturday lol.

Waste of time pal..there's been many posts by some who got their way..without regard for anyone else.

I've seen no real explanation of WHY they..A) Invaded when there were no players on the pitch to celebrate with.. B) Charged at players with kids about or C) Couldn't wait for everyone to get the chance to see the Lap of Honour.

All I see are pathetic excuses that "they couldn't see the presentation"..or that players family and kids shouldn't be on the pitch.

There is no reasoning with them.

can i just ask those who invaded the pitch... Why? Valid reasons please. I am just trying to enter the mindset of those who did to try to understand what I have overlooked and why I don't get the urge to do it. Honestly chaps I am really struggling to understand why.

What did you gain from it? You would know players would have to run off. You would know it would impact on the celebrations. You should know that if all 30,000k fans did it, people would get injured and there could be deaths. Your view of the celebrations is not as good as being higher up. Someone please give me something tangible to help me get my head around it.

NB I suppose I should answer the question -  in 40 years time when we are all dead or dying, it will be the kids of today keeping football alive, Footballers earn stupid money doing something they enjoy and I am jealous! But they are just people deep down like you and me that got lucky (with a lot of hard work still) this lot just got us to the promised land -  heck yes they should celebrate with people close to them, in the place where they need to be - on the pitch -  the same way we should celebrate with people close to us...... In the stands.

I can remeber the whole of the groung invading the pitch when we stayed up after beating Oxford. Cant remember anyone dying in that.
