Dan Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 QPR are ambitious, as well as absolutely stupid. They will fail again.

Corky Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 QPR are ambitious, as well as absolutely stupid. They will fail again. I'm going to defend Redknapp and QPR here actually, Dan. He's not as loathsome as Warnock.
Corky Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 No way Warnock is hilarious. Did I say Warnock? I meant Clint Hill
Guest Col city fan Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 It aint about Redknapp, QPR, Warnock or Clint fookin Hill. It's about the fact that people are STILL writing off any team (in this case QPR) before the summer has even begun proper! Do people ever learn. I thought the fact that QPR got promotion when many had said they were doomed might have taught a lesson. Twud appear not...

Who's to say they will not learn from their lessons on the last few years and could do well establishing themselves as a mid-table Prem team? no reason why they can't. They have as much chance as any of us. QPR just seem like an easy target for many, just forget it and concentrate on ourselves. No one knows how it's going to shape up until atleast 2 months time.

I thought the fact that QPR got promotion when many had said they were doomed might have taught a lesson. Twud appear not... Are you surprised? How many people are writing us off because we were linked with Fryatt. Not a fan of QPR or Redknapp, but I wanted Derby to go up because QPR have the resources and experience to be a greater threat to us than Derby, of course they could still fvck up in the transfer market and fill their team with aging mercenaries, but it seems like Fernandes at least has realised the error of his ways from last time and they could make some very good siginings to complement their already talented, yet underperforming squad. Lets judge their, and our, recruitment policy on who they have signed at the end of the window not on who they are linked with at the start. I'm kind of hoping their FFP fine will screw them over though.

Bettsj2 Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 This thread is so similar to the close season thread last summer. People talking about us struggling because we hadnt signed loads of people. I'm suprised this season hasnt bought more good faith from people.
Guest MattP Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Can see it already. 'Arry stays up on the last day after spunking more money than Man City and Sky Sports News are lauding him as a football genius again.

You've no idea that will happen, yet still post it anyway Let's wait and see. I do, I complete my predictor after the season has finished.
Mark_from_USA Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 QPR achieved promotion with a middling attack and a solid back line, sitting deep. That's what got them to the top early in the year, and that's what got them promoted in the playoffs. Whether they try to field this direct style in the PL remains to be seen. If they do it they might fit in in the bottom third where such teams typically battle it out. But some of their defenders are getting on (ie Dunne). I am hoping Leicester tries to keep its attacking style that served them so well, and that they do so in a way that allows them to compete successfully against the lower third and give a game of it to teams above that. Players like Mahrez, Drinkwater, Vardy with his pace, fullbacks pushing forward, etc. It's clear why they added Albrighton, to improve the quality of their crosses and set pieces - we will need better crosses. Obviously a target man is needed for size in these situations. Then City will need to be looking at defensive midfield and strengthening the back line, I think. It needs to be resilient to cope with the quality of attacks they will see if we don't sit deep all the time. As long as Pearson and crew realize where their strengths lie and build where needed, I think we stand a great chance of doing well enough. Tagging a particular name as 'ambitious' because they cost a lot is about as far from the strategy we need to be pursuing as it gets. We need the right players, not big name players.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 QPR are ambitious, as well as absolutely stupid. They will fail again. How the bloody hell do you KNOW that? You simply don't. You hope that will happen, is what you mean.

Guest Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Did I offend you in a previous life? Not at all. Everybody on here does it to some extent. Was just pointing it out in jest
MooseBreath Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Did I offend you in a previous life? What a pointless post. We don't even know whether or not previous life's are even a thing. Let's wait until we find out before assuming we know what happened it them shall we.
Danizen Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Who cares about FFP? Psg? No man city? We should just spend and stop worrying all other teams don't take notice of FFPYeah. Let's get into £100m of debt again. That was a fun ride.
muzzy1981 Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Can't believe people are slagging off our transfer policy / targets. Surely by now if there is one thin we know is that we sign great players. It's the tactical side of the management which will be tested the most this year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
inckley fox Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 The transfer window doesn't even open for another month. Why would we have parted with a 'cent'? In theory, Nigel may well have all ready agreed several signings but hasn't publicised this. This has always been Nigel's way of doing things, so I'm not sure why it's such a surprise to you that we haven't openly suggested we're going to spend billions of pounds on 'X', 'Y' and 'Z'. Chill out Simply because the last time NP went squad building he'd already spent 2-3m and signed Vardy, James and De Laet by the end of May. But trust me, I'm perfectly calm. Just wondering, that's all. Still very optimistic.
inckley fox Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Contract situations and negotiations can be a tedious affair. Just because some are finalized later than others doesn't mean there's anything negative to it. It's all down to personnel and individual schedules. What do you make of our recent signings? They all come without a fee and add to our already solid line-up. The initial signs and collective aims are different to those in the Championship, you know. Last season's signings were made to finally push us over the finishing line and achieve promotion (although I think the club didn't think it would happen this fast and via direct qualification). The upcoming season will be tackled under the common goal of survival, we can't risk of adding players that upset the dressing room or are overpaid to the squad. You can't and you don't want to rush these things. Only a few individuals at the club have Premiership experience, so it's better to think twice than to rush it. It was a wise move to rely on PL-formed acquisitions in the form of Upson and Albrighton, for example. Whether we're getting things right or not will only be visible in a few months' time or towards the end of next season. Up until then, I remain positive. Because based on the happenings and achievement over the past couple of years, our staff and team are all heading in the right direction. Yes, I agree totally. We're right to be positive; all three signings could well turn out to be positive additions (depending on what happens over the coming two months, of course). By Pearson's standards it's not early on in the pre-season but by everybody else's standards it is, so we have to be patient. I think Upson may well turn out to be a very able deputy and there are plenty of examples of players in their mid-30s who have served their purpose in central defence, from Gough and Watson to Carragher to Ferdinand. And Albrighton still has plenty of potential, but he'll have to do a lot better with injuries than he has for the past few seasons. I think both could be excellent signings and yet, while both strengthen the squad and add options, neither is likely to represent a week-in-week-out improvement at first team level - and this is the area that most newly-promoted sides tend to do the most work on. But you're right, there's every reason to believe that we'll get there.
