Corky Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 And just to add, QPR are trying to sign Lescott, which would've been a better signing for us, this £30k a week will send us straight back down! Are we preparing for relegation already or are they just trying to prepare for FFP? I don't hear about other teams in the premier putting a wage cap up? If we're preparing for FFP then fantastic, hopefully the club won't suffer a financial meltdown should we get relegated. I don't want us to spend £60/70k a week to players thanks a lot, we are absolutely pathetic when we spend big money anyway. QPR can try and sign who they want, it's their risk, it's a far bigger gamble than us more considered with our dealings.
XLM Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 Spending big isn't the answer by any stretch. For the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea, who have solid foundations and are gunning for the league/ european success then perhaps it is. We need to stay up this season and anything above that is a bonus. Hunger, desire and a mentality to succeed, mixed with a bit of talent and experience of course is what we need. Not that I believe Fryatt to be the answer, but at the same time, all we can do is have faith in Pearson to set us right.
dedlock Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 It's all paper talk. 'Arry is known to wheel and deal. Newspapers are known to speculate It's the end of May and we already have 3 new players on board. NP has done some of his business early but it's worth remembering it wasn't until late July last year that we made an addition to the squad. More will be added in good time, quality will be important and like it or not a newly promoted team may not be attractive to quality players.

It would be great if QPR did follow our lead, and Burnley, along with the likes of Swansea and Hull, spending well within our means and still being successful, stopping footballers feeling like they can hold clubs to ransom over pay demands, let Man City and Chelsea fight it out for the title and throow millions at players, but make sure any player that leaves them knows they are going to have a pay cut. Just because Man City paid you 80k a week, doesn't mean you are worth it!!!
LCFC2429 Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 We've got the money but pearson can't handle big names ffs we need big signings or were going down
LCFC2429 Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 Who cares about FFP? Psg? No man city? We should just spend and stop worrying all other teams don't take notice of FFP

We should just spend and stop worrying all other teams don't take notice of FFP You've got the internet, have a tommy tank and put your FFP troubles to the back of your mind, it caters for all different niches too. (I say that because LCFC 2429 told me he likes midget porn the filthy old dawg)
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 Christ! Spending loads of money worked out great for QPR in the Prem, Sven in the Championship etc Meanwhile leaving Pearson to get on with it has been an unmitigated disaster. No promotion No record points haul No record total wins No record consecutive wins No record away wins Just get Pearson out & get a big spender in Decrying Upson signing? Really? Player of the season for the best defence in the division & a a threat at set pieces, something we're woeful on. Not many better LCB around, never mind one that will boost us so well. And as for Fryatt? Are we after him? Does any reliable source say so and even if we were we need 4-5 forwards so Nugent & Vardy, Wood & GTF plus who? Fryatt would improve the squad if he were to come And anyway, Wood could leave and we could actually sign a bigger name But they're going to be hard to come by until the transfer wheel gets fully in motion after the World Cup, sure we may not sign one of its stars, but for a player to move one usually needs to be sold and it's when the whole pyramid starts to move we'll actually see proper signings not just one to fill the squad out Sure, Lescott may have more years left him but he was hardly great and after so long not playing competitive football Vs Upson playing week in & week out doing the business, not to mention his experience helping our squad in other ways... Leave it to NP, not a forum moron Absolutely superb .
Corky Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 We've got the money but pearson can't handle big names ffs we need big signings or were going down Who is this a parody of? It can't be a serious post.
Stadt Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 WE HAVENT WE SIGNED JAMES MILNER AND GARETH BARRY AND OTHER BIG NAMES ON BIG WAGES SO WE CAN BE LIKE QPR BUT SUEDEHEAD BADGER FACE CANT HANDLE BIG NAME PLAYERS BECAUSE HES NOT A WINNER LIKE REDKNAPP TOP CAN GET BENT ASWELL BECAUSE HES NOT SPENDING 180 MILL LIKE VICHEI SAID AND TONY FERNANDEZ IS SPENDING MONEY ON BIG NAMES SO THEY CAN STAY UP DONT WORRY ABOUT FFP COS PSG AND MAN CITY DONT CARE SCRATCHING THE BARREL FFS PEARSON
foxes_rule1978 Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 Apparently QPR will not be signing such players, they are going in with a different mindset this season... for me they will be better off for it
Mark_from_USA Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 Here in America we have saying. "Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one". We sure get our share on this forum.
Buzzell Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 Who gives a **** what QPR are doing?! In Pearson we trust.
inckley fox Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 How on earth do you get out of bed in the morning with all that doom and gloom hanging over you. It's a straightforward observation - we have a manager, his entire staff, our top scorer (and assist provider), our top assist provider from the season before, and our goalkeeper all out of contract in a few weeks' time. I suspect we'll tie up 4 out of the 5, yes, but there's no doubt that we're leaving it late. And Pearson does tend to do his business early, but as of yet we haven't parted with a cent, nor done anything to significantly improve on our starting eleven, when we had already tied up nearly all of our summer signings by this point the last time Pearson went squad-building. These aren't opinions, they're facts. My opinion is that we'll put a lot of this right in the weeks to come. But progress in May has, by the standards of a manager who needs a contract and who likes to do most of his business in May, been slow. That's not a criticism of Pearson, nor the club, nor is it saying that we're heading for some sort of earth-shuddering catastrophe. It's an observation, and one totally free of optimism, pesimism, anti-Pearsonism or whatever. We're all fans, we all wish for the best (I think you'll find a post of mine about an hour after the Watford defeat last year saying I was optimistic and sure we'd be promoted a year later, so I'm hardly a gloom-merchant) and I wake up in the morning feeling pretty good about supporting Leicester City - but we're not club PR men either, and there's nothing wrong with wondering from time to time whether we're getting things right.
tcrofts Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 They were ambitious when they signed Samba for 12 million and 100k a week, that worked out well! Prefer us to go about our business quietly, no points are won in May! We got 3 against Doncaster ;-)

Contract situations and negotiations can be a tedious affair. Just because some are finalized later than others doesn't mean there's anything negative to it. It's all down to personnel and individual schedules. What do you make of our recent signings? They all come without a fee and add to our already solid line-up. The initial signs and collective aims are different to those in the Championship, you know. Last season's signings were made to finally push us over the finishing line and achieve promotion (although I think the club didn't think it would happen this fast and via direct qualification). The upcoming season will be tackled under the common goal of survival, we can't risk of adding players that upset the dressing room or are overpaid to the squad. You can't and you don't want to rush these things. Only a few individuals at the club have Premiership experience, so it's better to think twice than to rush it. It was a wise move to rely on PL-formed acquisitions in the form of Upson and Albrighton, for example. Whether we're getting things right or not will only be visible in a few months' time or towards the end of next season. Up until then, I remain positive. Because based on the happenings and achievements in the past couple of years, our staff and team are all heading in the right direction.

To be meaningful, an observation needs to be compared with other similar values. Other clubs in the prem don't even have managers. So why are you worried that ours is merely signing a new contract. And, every other club in the Prem also has players out of contract. Matty Fryatt, ashley Cole, Frank Lampard. A meteor could strike the Earth this afternoon, obliterating mankind. That's just an observation too. But should we waste a nice Sunday worrying about it?
The Doctor Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Who cares about FFP? Psg? No man city? We should just spend and stop worrying all other teams don't take notice of FFP Yeah, because recklessly spending worked well under Taylor, and Pompey did brilliantly out of it....

The transfer window doesn't even open for another month. Why would we have parted with a 'cent'? In theory, Nigel may well have all ready agreed several signings but hasn't publicised this. This has always been Nigel's way of doing things, so I'm not sure why it's such a surprise to you that we haven't openly suggested we're going to spend billions of pounds on 'X', 'Y' and 'Z'. Chill out
AKCJ Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 I think it's more a case of QPR need to be ambitious. They need about 10 more players to be competitive, we need 4/5.
katieakita Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Qpr or Leicester City Which club has the higher wage bill? Which clubs squad cost the most money? Which squad has got more over paid players on long contracts? Which squad has the "bigger names"? Finally the all important one, which squad would you rather have?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 The Hull fans I speak to on another forum think that Fryatt was one of their better players last season and hope that they will bench Jelavic for him next season. Good! Let's hope they do just that. Fryatt back would be a dreadful, retrograde, mistake.
