Looking For A New Laptop

Recommended Posts

Posted

Ok so I'm looking for a new laptop to replace my current one.  I want one that is cheap and quality for gaming, schoolwork and daily use. I was looking at a Chromebook, considering it's pretty cheap. Is it worth purchasing and is it good enough to run games like Football Manger, Team Fortress 2, Minecraft etc.

Any reccomendations ?

Thanks

Don't bother with Chromebook will be terrible for gaming they are really meant for web browsing same as netbooks, try finding a laptop with 8gb ram memory processor within your budget new and you should get good use out of it

Bought one a couple weeks ago for £250 on ebay.

i7 core, 4gb ram, 160ssd, 8hour+ battery, win7 pro, fingerprint reader, years warranty - Lenovo x220

Youre looking at around £400 if you want the best of that in its class. Theyre built like tanks too but I doubt you could really do any serious gaming on it

Football manager will be fine on most laptops (but you will have to make do with a small-medium database. Anything more complicated than that and a laptop will struggle unless your willing to spend a huge amount.

I spent £400 on a Toshiba last year, was the cheapest I could find with a dedicated graphics card and a 17" screen, anything else similar I could found seemed to be £600+ though I didn't bother trawling eBay, I'm pretty lazy.

A laptop with around 8 GB RAM and 750 GB memory would easily run games like Football Manager, Team fortress and Minecraft. Probably cost in the region of £350-£400. If those are the only games you'll be playing then you should be fine however if you're looking to run games such as Call Of Duty, Battlefield etc then you will have to spend alot more. As for schoolwork and internet browsing any laptop will do.

My Macbook pro is without doubt the best thing I've ever purchased.

This is like coming into a thread where some kid is talking about getting himself a micra for his first car and telling him your Porsche is fantastic!!

Apple way more innovative then Microsoft.

So much so that you jumped at telling me all the examples of when it has been genuinely innovative recently?

Funny that because I have a MBP and Air.

As I thought, you're clearly 12 years old.

Well as you have a MacBook Pro, you can clearly see which operating system is better.

I bought a HP pavillion AMD8, 8gig memory, 1tb hd for about £350 from currys the other day and have been playing assassins creed 3 on it since.

Not sure how helpful this information was but the laptop seems to do all I need it to.

Pointless argument. Endless customising of various home computers of varying spec mean no one manufacturer can be classed as better overall.

Apple computers have nicer cases. Thats it.
