eastendfox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Sitting in row 1 at the corner wasn't the best view, but anyway... Schmeichel 8 - Some great saves De Laet and Konchesky 6 - Did well in first half, struggled a bit in second when Chelsea upped the pace Morgan and Moore 7 - Both played well, some great blocks, but also struggled against Chelsea's quality at times Mahrez 6 - Some good touches, but also struggled at times, and corners poor Schlupp 7 - Some great bursts forward, unpredictable, and mostly did a good job defending King 7 - Busy and didn't look out of place Hammond 9 - Unbelievably good. I didn't think he had a performance like that in him, not only great at breaking up the play but also played some great passes out wide to set up attacks. The game became easier for Chelsea when he went off Ulloa 6 - Cahill and Terry were too good for him, but he didn't waste the ball when he did get it Nugent 6 - Some lively runs, if only he'd scored though... Subs: Albrighton 6 - Couldn't make too much of an impact but some decent play Taylor-Fletcher 5 - Not a central midfielder, did his best Wood 5 - Not on long enough to make an impact
Swarles Barkley Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Schmeichel 9- some terrific saves. Kept us in the game Moore and Wes- 8.5 excellent defending from both including crucial blocks and interception De laet 7- handled hazard well Konchesky 6.5-played well but at fault for their first Mahrez 7- our biggest threat going forward. But tries to do much at times and needs alot work on his crossing. 3 pîss poor corners in the first half King and hammond 9- couldnt believe how well they handled the chelsea midfield. Although not technically gifted like uames and drinkwater, some of the passes and tackles were very impressive, king especially Schlupp 7- all pace really. Didnt really seem to trouble their defence but work his heart out and helped out in defence Ulloa 7 some very good hold up play and touches. Not much of a threat in front of goal unfortunately Nugent 6.5- worked his socks off once again but missed 2 excellent chances. Shouldve buried the 1on 1. There was on need to look over at the linesman. Score the goal then worry about offside
Stadt Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Although we performed well most of our side don't deserve 7s or 8s
Dickov22 Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Kasper 8 Some fantastic saves De Laet 5.5 Looks nervous so far this season. Needs to remember how great he is in the air, in attack and how his pace means he can give his man a yard at times Moore 7 Against top players, he held his own Morgan 7.5 Immense first half Konchesky 6 Did his job Mahrez 6 Some great skills but his final product and corners were poor today Schlupp 6 A good outlet for us King 6.5 Some nice touches but against quality opposition he found it difficult to get forward Hammond 7.5 Great in the first half, won so many tackles, spread the ball around the pitch for us. Really good game Ulloa 6 Some lovely touches in the first half, pretty quiet in the second half Nugent 5 Poor again. The one on one he never ever looked like scoring. Just didn't look confident. You have to take those chances
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Just take note, our two man midfield with a total price of £0.00 went toe to toe with a three man midfield that cost £70 million.
Guest ttfn Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Schmeichel 8 - good stops, decent distribution. De Laet 6 - stuck to his (difficult) task really well but nevertheless we look weak at full back. Moore 8 - just gets better and better Morgan 8 - joke that he's been playing his whole career outside if the Prem Konchesky 6 - a bit meh. Mahrez 7 - a combination if incredibly dangerous and wasteful. King 8 - ace. Again. But not as ace as... Hammond 8.5 - didn't know he had it in him, even after last week Schlupp 6.5 - did fine Nugent 7 - worker his nuts off but ultimately his poor finishing cost us at least a point. Ulloa 6 - worked hard and some neat touches but the game largely passed him by.
Rushden fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 I was sat in the Matthew Harding stand..far side from the city fans (who were in good voice by the way). Friend of mine gave me a ticket. Those around me rated us highly though I didn't have the balls to say I was a fox. One even said we shud have got something from the game, they were frustrated by our determination in the first 60 mins. Schmichel was my man of the match, Nugent my fall guy, Mahraz needs to stop trying so hard and Hammond and Kingy were solid. Like the boy sat next to me said "you can see why they got promoted". Good effort boys.
Bamba's Babes Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Schmeichel - 8 - Key saves, did well. RDL - 5 - Appears to be a player who hasn't stepped up his game yet. Morgan - 7 - Solid, won't face many more difficult days. Moore - 7 - Solid, won't face many more difficult days. Konchesky - 7 - Not a fan but I thought he played well, probably helped by Schlupp's presence. Schlupp - 7 - Did well in defence and attack, valuable pace King - 8 - Excellent Hammond - 8 - Cambiasso with hair. Mahrez - 7 - Bets attacking player, missed final ball. Ulloa - 6 - Very clever player, will link up great with Vardy. Nugent - 5 - That chance... Not good enough at this level
ADK Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 I gave King motm thought he played very well again. Apart from GTF who was useless most players were fairly solid but not flawless. Schlupp and Nugent not good enough imo.
GingerrrFox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Schmeichel - 9 - Made some important saves, especially the one against Fabregas where he stayed on his feet to avoid the chip. RDL - 6 - Seems to be getting some unfair criticism but he did pretty well against Hazard and put some good crosses into the box. Still not quite found his feet at this level but will get better. Morgan - 8 - Made the top scorer in La Liga last season look average in the same way as Lukaku last week. Moore - 8 - Same as Wes, looks very composed in possession which is clearly something he's worked on. Konchesky - 7 - Looked much more comfortable with Schlupp in front of him who puts more of a shift in tracking runners and helping his full back out. Solid display that frustrated Schurrle. Schlupp - 6 - His pace is essential as he always gives us an outlet and made smart use of the ball today, but could and will do more in time. King - 7 - Not as influential as last week but still very solid but was out shined by Hammond. Needs to back himself more and be decisive with the ball in attack. Hammond - 8 - These are the games where he gets to show his worth, he's absolutely brilliant in games where the opposition are technically better than us. Hassles and harries and uses the ball effectively. He is what he is and gives you everything but will never be a match winner. Mahrez - 6 - Looks so dangerous with the ball at feet but needs to improve his final ball and decision making. Young and inexperienced though and will become exceptional in time. Ulloa - 6 - Battled very hard in the first half and played well but became invisible in the 2nd half, hard to hold it against him though considering Nugent was poor next to him. Nugent - 5 - Not good enough, the pass to King in the first half butchered a potential chance and snatched at both chances he had which were not acceptable of a Premiership striker. I still have doubts he can play at this level.
theessexfox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Kasper - 8 - some very good saves RDL - 7 - thought he did fine, some mistakes but some good defending Morgan - 8 - some excellent blocks Moore - 8 - same as Konchesky - 7 - did well Mahrez - 7 - flashes of brilliance, some poor decision making King - 8 - delighted how well he fared Hammond - 9 - awesome performance, what a step up Schlupp - 7 - did a good job Nugent - 7 - dangerous but should've scored Ulloa - 5 - difficult for him but anonymous Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
Hack Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 A few comments before I give my ratings. I watched the game on Fox spots in Australia and not needing a stream. I can't tell you how proud I am of that performance by the boys. Most PL teams and their fans going to the Bridge would be very happy with that begin their performance. Our first half was just outstanding. We didn't allow Chelsea to boss the game at all and frankly I thought we had the better of the first half. With regard to us being a championship team. Let me say this team was so far and away the best team in the championship last year winning it in a canter we were always a Premier league team in waiting. Even our second choice midfield showed it is up to playing with the real big boys. We definitely need to strengthen our team. With doubt over Hammond, James and Drinky, we need at least 1 if not 2 midfielders. I think we will be very active in the last week of the window. I think with permanents and loans we will bring in no less than 4 players. LCFC Well done. Schmeichel 8 - Some great saves. did very well and showed he belongs in the premier league. De Laet 7 - Thought he played really well especially considering he was marking his Belgium team mate and a football freak Hazard. The criticism I have of Ritchie is when he clears the ball he rushes often kicks the ball to the opposition rather than look pass. So he wastes possession. Konchesky 7- Did very in well in first half, frankly did well in the second. The biggest change in the game in the second half was the MOM Ivanovic came much more up field in a wing back role and caused huge issues for the team, more in particular for Jeff. Our left side was assaulted by Ivanovic and we had no answer to him. He was the difference between the 2 teams. Frankly I think he is the world's best right back. Konch has found a yard of pace this season and looks like a new player. Morgan 9 - What can you say about our captain. He is immense. The Black equivalent of John Terry who I thought was also very good today. if it wasn't for Wes I think Chelsea win by 4. what a CD. That is all Moore 7 - played well, some great blocks, but also struggled against Chelsea's quality at times. He got bitched with Jeff by Ivanovic for the first. Mahrez 7 - Some good touches, but also struggled at times, and corners poor. He is going to be a star for us once he has more support and plays what is in front of him. Schlupp 6 - Some great bursts forward, unpredictable, and mostly did a good job defending. Got destroyed by Invanovic in the second. I would of taken Jeff off and moved Mahrez to the left for Albrighton King 9 - You could have put the blue 4 jersey on him and could have been Fabregas. He was outstanding and frankly controlled his much more fancied opponent. James and Drinkwater have real competition to get get back into the side Hammond 8 - Unbelievably good. He has shown all that he is a PL midfielder and showed that NP knows quality when he sees it. worked so hard he couldn't walk let alone run after 65 mins. matched 70 million pound opponents. Ulloa 7 - Even though he did not have a shot in anger, he did very well against an excellent pair of CD's. Any one saying John Terry is to old and slow just needs to watch this game. Ulloa is going to be very important to us this year. He has touch vision and when given a chance will score Nugent 6 - Some lively runs. But frankly looks for time he doesn't have in the PL that he had in the champ. He was wasteful with his efforts in front of goal and needs to make the step up that the rest of the team has. He should be worried about his place with Vardy coming back from injury. Subs: Albrighton 6 - Couldn't make too much of an impact but some decent play Taylor-Fletcher 6 - did his best in not his normal position. Very nice touch. Wood 6 - A few touches in the last 10 mins that looked good.
bluebeau Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Well done City, great effort & must have impressed the other Prem. managers. I watched the whole game on Sky & when the players walked off, I then realised that Ulloa had been on the field! I thought he was totally anonymous, he needs time to adjust to the Prem. Some terrific efforts from most of the starting 11. Going by the way the guys have played in the first 2 games, I can see them finishing in the top 10 of the Prem. & we still have Drinky, James & Vardy to be available. Well done Nige, & staff.
M0901 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Just take note, our two man midfield with a total price of £0.00 went toe to toe with a three man midfield that cost £70 million. Exactly. More than held their own.
Carlos88LCFC Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 How are people giving Nugent high marks... Did I miss something? He scuffed 2 chances to score and also fked up an assist for king. Yes he works hard, but so do phillipeno labourers. He's not good enough. I prefer Wood to Nugent! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Kasper - 8 - Some excellent stops, notably from Ivanovic and Fabregas RDL - 6 - Better than Everton, steady going forward and offered an outlet Morgan & Moore - 8 - Some great blocks from Wes and great collective discipline against a potent attacking threat. Neither look out of their depth at this level. Konch - 6.5 - Dilligent for the most part, had his denims down in the build up to their first. King - 8 - Hassled them all game and made himself a presence, distribution excellent. Hammond - 8 - See KIng, some excellent play in forward areas, too. Both he and King were valuable to our counter attacking threat. Schlupp - 6.5 - Offered much more defensively than Knockaert, was sold by Ivanovic for Costa's goal. Needs to work on offerering more of a threat in the opposition's half. Riyad - 7 - Some bursts of brilliance coupled with some poor decision making but always looked likely to make "something" happen. Nugent - 5.5 - That miss drags his rating a little, had a reasonable enough game otherwise. Ulloa - 6 - First half, held the ball up well and offered a constant outlet, anonymous second. Gave the officials a 10, faultless.
