NewburyFox Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Good signing. The first priority for a RB is to defend, especially for a team like us, and it seems that Simpson is a better defender than De Laet. It adds important depth to the squad too - I wouldn't have been happy having Moore/Wasyl as the only back up for De Laet. I can't imagine Simpson has cost much either, so ticks all the boxes for me.
Babylon Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Almost everyone happy with a signing... Does this ever happen? You wait til people find out we paid £10m.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Baffles me why QPR have chosen to sell, maybe they are getting in another RB who knows, but we have ended up with a quality player it's not hard to figure out, he's not that good. I'm alright with it, I don't rate him but we're quite bare at right back.
MPH Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Simpson to me is more of a 4-4-2 RB letting the winger attack with no defensive responsibility. . de Laet more of a 3 central mids sort of RB who can bomb up the wing a bit more. Happy to be proven wrong though...
Babylon Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 it's not hard to figure out, he's not that good. I'm alright with it, I don't rate him but we're quite bare at right back. No it's not hard to figure out... They play three at the back not four now.
Bamba's Babes Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Pleased with this . Now another cb winger and fwd ? What's the chances? Don't believe we need a centre back. Priority: 1 - Striker 2 - Left back 3 - Winger
The Horse's Mouth Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 No it's not hard to figure out... They play three at the back not four now. They played four today, after the Spurs embarrassment it looks like he's going back to four.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 it's not hard to figure out, he's not that good. I'm alright with it, I don't rate him but we're quite bare at right back. It was too much to expect everyone to be happy
Harry - LCFC Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Almost feels like we haven't signed a player, I'm still recovering from the Night of the Esteban.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 It was too much to expect everyone to be happy I never said I was unhappy, I said I was alright with it. I'm not bashing it as such, but I think people are slightly overrating him.
Babylon Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 They played four today, after the Spurs embarrassment it looks like he's going back to four. Who played left back or right back? They started Hill, Ferdinand and Caulker
Jace Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Why is he in a cupboard ? So he can clean Cambiassos boots since he's unable to play tomorrow
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 I never said I was unhappy, I said I was alright with it. I'm not bashing it as such, but I think people are slightly overrating him. He's looked decent every time I've seen him play, he was especially solid for Newcastle
kingfox Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Doubt we will get both a Left-Back & Winger. It all depends what Pearson sees Schlupp as now, if he still sees him as a left-back a winger could be needed, if he sees him as a winger then a left-back is definitely needed. Just glad we have got Simpson in though, Right Back was the only position where we didn't have outright competition.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Who played left back or right back? They started Hill, Ferdinand and Caulker Isla at right back, Hill at left back
weller54 Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 So he can clean Cambiassos boots since he's unable to play tomorrow And be in charge of the microwave to keep GTF 's pies warm!
Corky Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 They played four today, after the Spurs embarrassment it looks like he's going back to four. Does that mean Hoddle isn't needed anymore?
RonnieTodger Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Rodger the Todger will be along in a minute to tell us all about how he's not impressed because he's been watching city for 40 years and knows a thing or 2 about players I thought this was a swipe at me for a minute
MHC Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Think about how the squad is coming together. Looks good if you ask me. Where does it need more cover? CB, LB? Kasper, Hamer Simpson, RDL Morgan, Moore, Wasilewski, Upson Konchesky, Schlupp Drinkwater, James, Cambiasso, King, Hammond Mahrez, Knockaert, Albrighton Vardy, Nugent, Ulloa, Wood Looking at that I would say we could do with another winger but I suppose Schlupp can cover there if we need him too. Bakayogo might actually be back up for Konchesky in Pearson's eyes and he might be classing Schlupp as a winger this season, who knows. If that is the case I'd say we look like the finished article in terms of numbers. Maybe another striker like Nigel says but I like the look of that squad. Well done Nigel for sorting out our strength in depth problem.
Babylon Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Isla at right back, Hill at left back Hill at left back... Jesus Christ, I presume Sunderland don't have a quick right winger!!!
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 I thought this was a swipe at me for a minute No not you
The Horse's Mouth Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Hill at left back... Jesus Christ, I presume Sunderland don't have a quick right winger!!! indeed, I imagine a deadline day special for a left back at Arry's den.
roger the dodger Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Rodger the Todger will be along in a minute to tell us all about how he's not impressed because he's been watching city for 40 years and knows a thing or 2 about players i am impressed with this one. hungry hungry for c..ks saw him last season looked good for qpr
