Merging Cultures Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 On Facebook LCFC just posted, #lcfc assistant manager Craig Shakespeare urged players who are not away with their countries in the international break to continue their hard work. With a link to http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/081014-shakespeare-continue-the-hard-work-2005983.aspx Why are we having to 'urge' players to work hard? It is mandatory.
Mark_w Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 I'd read the quotes if I were you, they aren't at all unreasonable.
davieG Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 It's just another way of saying doubling the effort on the training ground which invariably follows a defeat or poor performance. Same old same old.
sylofox Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 Not read it but surely keep up with the hard work yes we are doing ok but could still improve. Bear in mind he has been asked for a comment. Is that not better than saying we are doing way better than we thought so take it easy lads.
egg_fried_rice Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 Interesting comments on Powell and his work rate. Glad to see it has been identified, and the player is responding. Think we'll see him get some first team game time in the near future.
Merging Cultures Posted 8 October 2014 Author Posted 8 October 2014 The headline just annoyed me to be honest. The article did seem reasonable, but why post it like that?
Freesolo Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 Interesting comments on Powell and his work rate. Glad to see it has been identified, and the player is responding. Think we'll see him get some first team game time in the near future. Why whats been wrong with his workrate in the past?
1993fox Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 Good to know Wood and Powell did well, we still have safe backup for Ulloa although I'm still puzzled as to why Man Utd loaned Powell to us...
Chug Laguna Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 I also believe in hard work, and results. The boys have to have the right attitude and leave it all on the field. Preparation, execution, synergy, paradigms, thinking outside the box, cloud based network solutions etc
Freesolo Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 Good to know Wood and Powell did well, we still have safe backup for Ulloa although I'm still puzzled as to why Man Utd loaned Powell to us... Because he plays as a AM and is never going to get a game ahead of Mata or Rooney
kingcarr21 Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 whats wrong with the comment? I would assume a few players may go on a short holiday if not involved with internationals so Shakespeare probably means dont go and stuff your face in an all inclusive and keep there fitness up

I would assume a few players may go on a short holiday if not involved with internationals so Shakespeare probably means dont go and stuff your face in an all inclusive and keep there fitness up Why would they go on holiday though? They had the summer. They should be at the training ground.
egg_fried_rice Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 Why whats been wrong with his workrate in the past? It was something that Wigan fans were critical of during his time there.
kingcarr21 Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 Why would they go on holiday though? They had the summer. They should be at the training ground. i saw a tweet (think it was knockaert could be wrong) saying they were going away on a short break
deep blue Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 . ... although I'm still puzzled as to why Man Utd loaned Powell to us...I've been pondering this myself, and I wonder if it's to do with his going off the boil at Man U. It is accepted wisdom that when a player of quality is loaned out that he will command a first team slot with comparative ease and will be expected to be given a lot of games. But he couldn't expect to walk into our team. Given that he has no chance breaking into the Man U set-up in the near future and looks like a wasted investment, what do they lose by loaning hi!m to us so that we can possibly turn his mindset round, get him focussed on doing what is necessary to break into our team whilst bringing on his match fitness and sharpness
Dickov22 Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 Good to know Wood and Powell did well, we still have safe backup for Ulloa although I'm still puzzled as to why Man Utd loaned Powell to us... Because the idiot LVG isn't interested in a player unless they are a big name, or if it's one of his signings. He'll bring in a load more defenders in Jan and by this time next year there will be no young English players anywhere near the team. Except Shaw maybe.
deep blue Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 ... And, fo Llowing pn from my previous comment, given our budding reputation on fitness and coaching, what better "rehabilitation centre" to send Powell to?
Merging Cultures Posted 9 October 2014 Author Posted 9 October 2014 i saw a tweet (think it was knockaert could be wrong) saying they were going away on a short break And if I was AK I'd be putting in extra hours to show NP I am ready and want to play...
Freesolo Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 It was something that Wigan fans were critical of during his time there. really? Its surprising NP took him on considering the work ethic he expects from everyone in the squad, dunno if Powell thought he was just going to waltz in the Leicester starting XI?
Stadt Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 Why would they go on holiday though? They had the summer. They should be at the training ground.Football clubs want to prevent injuries so allowing short breaks is probably very important, especially for injury prone players.
Merging Cultures Posted 10 October 2014 Author Posted 10 October 2014 Football clubs want to prevent injuries so allowing short breaks is probably very important, especially for injury prone players. Then you would reduce the impact of the training, and have them go over videos and tactics, but you wouldn't let them go on holiday. In my unprofessional opinion, short breaks would do more damage than spending time with the physio on a low impact training regime.
Raw Dykes Posted 10 October 2014 Posted 10 October 2014 ... And, fo Llowing pn from my previous comment, given our budding reputation on fitness and coaching, what better "rehabilitation centre" to send Powell to? Interesting. Could be onto something, definitely. Part of the reason Powell was loaned to us could well be that Man Utd want to see if NP and his staff can sort his attitude/work rate out. We could be his boot camp.
