Middle lane hogging I swear is absolutely endemic in this country and getting worse.

The sheer amount of ****ing gormless twats vacantly staring ahead blissfully unaware of what’s going on around them. Just car after car sat there whilst the left hand lane is empty.

I regularly use the M1 north from junction 1 and can't fathom how bad it is. Are they just thick? Nervous? Lazy?

I think the answer is just 'yes to all'.

Even worse when someone is doing 70 in the fast lane and wont move over

From experience of driving on blue lights over the years, taxi drivers are among the worst drivers. No anticipation, no observation, no awareness of what's happening on the road or around them.

Now I find these private drivers delivering for Just Eat, McDonald's etc or the local pizza place or chippy are just as much of a menace. Be it in a shitty clapped out car or on a moped.

Same, ive seen it all too often.

Why? They're going as fast as allowed, so what's the point?

Second and third lanes are overtaking lanes unless there is a significant amount of slow moving traffic.

Because they can do it elsewhere, the tarmac works just as well on the inner lanes. If they're overtaking, it's fair enough.

Exactly. So to overtake someone doing 70...

You understand?

I get the point. If the lanes are empty move over. There is no "fast lane" - ideally the traffic in all lanes would be doing 70, as is permitted, then there would be no jams.

No, because 70 is the limit.

You can't overtake at the same speed.

I very much understand.

NCA, Armed forces and of course our emergency services use these roads. Contrary to what people think, they don’t need to have Bluelights on to use an exemption.

Motorways weren’t created so 3 lanes of traffic can all sit at 70 moving from A to B.

Standard and Advanced Police drivers are actually encouraged to drive at 65mph on a motorway so to keep the flow of traffic moving.

So yeah a normal driver shouldn’t, in theory, be overtaking someone who is doing 70 but at the same time that person doing 70 shouldn’t be sat in the third lane unless overtaking first and second lanes.

That plain car doing more than 70 could be exempt.

It's not the "fast lane". It's lane 3 or 4.

What you drinking?

Went to a pub in Louth, a proper drinking pub, no food other than snacks, called The Consortium and had some of the Sledgehammer Stout (7.5%) they had on.

Lovely little (bar, no lounge, not much bigger than most people's living room) pub down an alleyway, but not the kind of place if you're a Carling or Fosters drinker.

I sometimes wish I had a bonnet mounted machine gun to cleanse the roads of this sort of behaviour

Which lane would you be in?

Putting the proverbial knife into a cyclist today. Was at a cross roads and going straight ahead with a cyclist some way behind me. He flies through on the inside without looking for traffic after I'd set off and then turns right missing me by a fraction. There wasn't any cars near us where I could even justify this to get ahead of some cars, just absolutely stupidity and miracle he wasn't under my car.
