Cameron killed it tonight on QT. Milliband couldn't even step off the stage without looking like an incompetent twat.

Cameron is a rat

Watched about 15 minutes of Cameron. Every question seemed to be about benefits. Says it all when every supposedly challenging question to the tories is just a variation on "why aren't you giving me as much free money as I got from labour?"

Imagine welfare spending was managed by an independent body, voter turnout would probably struggle to reach 10%.

I was actually impressed with the composure of Clegg.  I don't agree with a lot of what he says but I believe he is the best public speaker out of the three.

Miliband had a night to forget though IMO.

You missed the bit about the rise in foodbanks then? Which Cameron  avoided  answering again.   I never  heard anyone say how much are you gotng to give me.

No I saw that bit. Same type of question, implying that labour gave people enough money not to have to use food banks so why are the Tories giving away less free money. That question was even worse because it intentionally ignored the obvious point that more shops offering food for free will result in more people taking advantage of the free food. It says nothing at all about the state of people's finances.

Over the next week, the Conservatives need to focus on Miliband saying that the last Labour government didnt spend too much and Ed Balls calling the note a joke. Miliband has served it on a plate for them and now they have to take advantage and also shut up about the SNP

Yep. I think you exaggerate a little but he certainly lost the argument.

I liked Michael's comment about young people's call for higher public spending being against their interests. I find it rather ironic when some of my peers talk about how tough they've got it while throwing their weight behind the Greens.

It appears to be you that's obsessed with welfare, deluded that Labour want to pour money into the pockets of 'lazy unemployed' people rather then re-thinking a ridiculously unfair system that has seen massive increases in polarisation if the wealthy and most impoverished.

I have to say that the assertion that food banks exist primarily because people like free stuff is one of the funniest lines so far.

It's obviously a joke, but you can imagine some nutjob backbencher making that comment.

Everything he says is a joke, but don't kid yourself that it's intentional: he really is that sociopathic.

That is why they exist. The Trussell Trust is basically a franchise business. You pay a couple of grand and they'll let you set up a foodbank. The more foodbanks the Trussell Trust have, the more profile they get, the more donations they get, the more food banks they set up and so the cycle continues. They're offering free food with very few conditions on how you can get some. Not many franchises are likely to fail regardless of economic conditions. Hence they've expanded all over the place in recent years. It's a good business model, I'm sure the Tory owners are making a packet.

How often are you down there then? It's free, and everyone likes free stuff yeah? You must be filling your boots. No?

Been a couple of times yeah. I'm a bit too much of a foodie to shop there too often though. The selection at my local wasn't great.

Gove has a problem with the word "Iron" doesn't he?

He's also stating how great cameron was last night - 5 or 6 ways he won without once mentioning better policies. What does falling off the stage have to do with being the better government?

I've come to the conclusion that democracy is not as good as its made out to be. We have a group of parties all so short termism that the real problems cannot be addressed.

Also the forum tendance to favour the introduction of PR is short sighted. Yes it'll give a better representation but sadly it'll also mean cooperative government and that rarely works. It makes it too easy to block and water down good ideas.

More and more it seems monarchy or dictators can lead their countries better over the long term. now we just have to find the ideal dictator - could that be harder than getting a government that doesn't lie and cheat?

Just heard some commentator state that the Tories have more millionaires than women in their cabinet. Is that true?

Gove does come across as a ****.

Gove is like a spitting image puppet of a Tory scoundrel.

Just watched the debate, thought Cameron absolutely cruised to victory, similar to the Paxman evening he just looks so comfortable when faced with an audience, it suits him far more than a debate.

Ed standing up there and saying that he didn't think the Labour party overspent in the last term was one of the most incredible things I've heard, as KingGTF says the Tories have to absolutely hammer that home this coming week, any sense of fiscal responsibility thrown out the window in front of the nation in one sentence.

He only decent moment was ruling out any sort of deal with the SNP, I generally saw Miliband as a man who would be prepared to sell out the long term future of his party for his own short term personal gain.

Impressed by Clegg as well, really hope he holds into his seat, no way would parliament be a better place with another shit Labour backbencher than Nick Clegg, despite me disagreeing with virtually everything he says.

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed this, as soon as the original question went virtually every other single one apart from the EU immigration was about lavishing money on people again who aren't doing anything, yet again the entitlement culture of the country rearing it's head, it will take generations of work to shift that from society now.

I bet Cameron really wants to turn around and shout at the top of his voice "Because there is no ****ing money left and we are still borrowing 90billion a year to get by you twats"

Anyone just see Jolyon Rubinstein on This Week? Just got tore to shreds by Michael Portillo and Alan Johnson

Annoyed me this did, I love the show The Revolution will be Televised and he's very funny on that, last night he was absolutely awful, as you say rolling his eyes and yet again harping on about 'austerity' being Portillo put him in his place, he then decided to spout every single far left cliche going and then deny he was left-wing, I actually thought he'd been on the sauce.

Yep. I think you exaggerate a little but he certainly lost the argument.

Exactly what I was thinking as well, the 'progressive' youngsters of politics who are deciding to load debt upon themselves, incredibly the same Green voters who call for huge rises in public spending are also the ones campaign against tuittion fees because of the debt it loads onto the student, you couldn't make it up. lol

This, ironically the Trussell Trust has been one of the success stories of the Conservative business plan, the sight of people smoking outside the food banks really does bring home the absurdity of the situation. Why on earth would you cancel Sky or cut back on something when you can get your food for free?

Of course you feel sorry for people on foodbanks who are in genuine need, but we all know there is something pretty sinister going on with the Trussell Trust. If you think these are going to vanish anytime soon you have another think coming and that's why Ed refuses to answer any questions on if he'd try and shut them down.

P.S The slight tumble was amusing, can you imagine how funny it would have been had he actually managed to go arse over tit?

I've just watched this again and it's as bad as I thought it was. He's actually older than me as well, what generation does he think he is speaking for?

If you are going to to shout about Suez etc you really need to do your research, glaring error to say it was nothing like Iraq in terms of being a shady deal, I mean how can you get things that wrong and spout them on TV?Hhow funny was it when Portillo leant forward and said 'but you're young and can check that on the internet can't you to get the facts'? lol

I think he was pissed, the way he picked up his glass so slowly to drink his water was like a bloke taking a drink at last orders who had been on it all day.

oh this made me giggle.

Me too lol

From 1994 as well, how right it was!
