Leicester City back under-fire manager Nigel Pearson with transfer funds.

We need:

A new left back (Olsson, Norwich?)

A new winger (Adomah, Middlesbrough?)

A new striker (Vydra, Watfinese)

Means we could potentially go with:

Schmeichel

De Laet Morgan Moore Olsson

Mahrez Drinkwater James Adomah

Vydra Ulloa

Subs: Hamer, Simpson, Wasilewski, Konchesky, Schlupp, Cambiasso, Vardy

Surely a significant improvement on what we have?

We need to purchase or get loans in wisely and I am pretty confident that with the previous track record, we can achieve that goal.

However, I'd really like to know the other aspect of it all - I can't wait to see some of our current crop who haven't performed well or not featured at all given a chance at another club on loan.

Bilo, we already have players who were amongst the best in the championship. This season has taught us that not all can step up and possess the quality to perform consistently at PL level. Buying more would not be a good idea. we need proven top flight players, whether in England or Germany/Spain/Italy and possibly France.

A-- no one of any worth is going to come a bottom club ( their agents would not put their heads or reputation on the block )

And B --- we apparently owe millions in fines. Wakey Wakey !

If Nigel is still here in January, he needs to break convention and spend big. Let's make no bones about it. If reports are to be believed, we have been scouting Scandinavia for defensive talent the past few months, in particular - Norway which I am very happy about. We need someone with a bit more know how in that back line and I also think Upson coming back will be a massive bonus for us. We have been atrocious at times defensively this season and I have been very vocal about that.

Up front, Defoe would be good as would the other lad that is rumoured to be on our hit list in recent days. I think the point I am trying to make is though, if we haven't learnt our lessons in the last few months about doing the Premiership on the cheap, I don't know what it will take to hit home.

Leaving in January? I can't see Chris Wood being a Leicester player much longer and we may see others leave on loan/permanently too. Big window all round!

I don't see the point in signing more Championship players either.

Trawling through the current 25-man squads shows how important it is to make good use of the summer window.

It's such a small group of players that will be loaned or transferred within the Premier League and all the clubs down the bottom will be desperate for signings.

I think we just have to hope we sign someone like Kone or Pienaar, even if it's only on loan, and they can make a big impact - a bit like Borini did for Sunderland last season maybe.

Outside of that, it's looking abroad and that can get very protracted with players and agents holding out for bigger clubs as we already appear to be seeing with this Kramaric fella.

All in all, we can't rely on some magic January signings. A large proportion of current players need to improve if we're going to have any chance of staying up.

Olsson and Vydra both have experience of top flight football and their wages wouldn't cripple us if we do go down.

QPR were extremely lucky to get promoted, they'd be utterly demolished financially if Derby had beaten them at Wembley and I'd hate to see us ending up the way of Portsmouth.

We don't necessarily need to spunk £50m on three players to stay in this division, merely find players who will complement what we already have.

Whilst I agree with you in principle, I'm very much all for the spunking.

All depends on the Championship player. Get the right one and they make the step up quite seamlessly. Cress well is doing great at West Ham, for instance.

Under MON, the bulk of the players were relative unknowns..Matt Elliott joined us from Oxford I think? Lennon from Crewe? Heskey had no Prem experience..he went up with us. Muzzy was in the Chelsea reserves.

If they are good enough, they are good enough. If played correctly.

January will be too late, unless we get our act together right now.

Pearson wasted the summer window by doing f--k all. Which half decent player would want to join a club that is destined for the big drop?

I agree Col., but that was MON, and this is Pearson, a horse of a different colour. Surely if he was able to unearth these gems, he would have brought them in during the summer break.

I admire your confidence, but mine dried up after the QPR game. Hope you are right though, buddy.

I'd say that's pretty much right.

If we were still bottom, it would be hard to attract players and those that did join would probably demand tons of cash, to join.

Not good either way..

We need to be in a better position when the window opens.

You may just be the most miserable man in England.

Its about the first time I agree with him apart from Cambiassio and Ulloa who else have we signed that adds any quality to the first team.

Pearson should have brought in a few more high quality players in the summer although I don't knock him for giving the current squad a chance as they deserved it.

but now its time to get serious either the players step up and start performing like they did last season or bring in some quality to replace them in the starting line up.

I'm sure Pearson will come good I have full faith in him

Apart from signing plenty of players, I presume?

We are a newly promoted side with a financial limit and a real chance of going straight back down, it's not that attractive to top players.

Personally think full back and midfield are priority areas. Strikers will score with service and clean sheets will be kept with better protection.

Why does anybody reply to that dinosaur anymore?
