Leicester City back under-fire manager Nigel Pearson with transfer funds.

Nigel Pearson will be given funds to strengthen his Leicester City squad next month and has received the full backing of the club’s owners over his row with a supporter.

Pearson is to escape action from his board following his angry confrontation with a fan last Tuesday and his job is not in jeopardy despite Leicester’s alarming slump.

The 51-year-old manager appeared to respond to a fan by shouting “f--- off and die”, towards the end of the 3-1 defeat by Liverpool, but Leicester’s Thai owners have accepted his explanation and are likely to drop their investigation.

Pearson’s position has come under further scrutiny after a run of nine games without a win and Leicester will head into the Midlands derby against Aston Villa bottom of the Premier League. But Leicester’s hierarchy are not panicking over the recent run and there is a determination to back Pearson in the transfer window.

Pearson will identify a centre-half and a forward in a bid to move Leicester out of the relegation zone and he plans to strike quickly in the next few weeks.

He also has the unequivocal support of the dressing room, with midfielder Matty James insisting Pearson’s response underlined his belief in the squad.

“The lads know that the gaffer is going to back us and he always has done,” he said. “We had a dip in form the first season I was here and he did the same then. He is a lot more scrutinised now in the Premier League, there’s a lot more eyes and ears, but to see your gaffer backing you is a great thing to see.

“We are backing him 100 per cent, too. The gaffer has shown passion and the fans have shown passion and it is good but all of that has to be put to bed now and we have to focus on that game against Villa.

“We have to remember where we came from. We broke a lot of records last year, goals, unbeaten runs. If people thought we would come into this league and thought we would walk it, then they’re being unrealistic. We don’t expect to be in the run we are in now but we will keep fighting to the end.” Leicester have not managed to win since their remarkable 5-3 victory over Manchester United in September but Villa’s home form should provide encouragement

Hopefully he uses any financial backing he is given. Certain areas of the team are in desperate need of new faces.

Pleased the board of have let Pearson off with internal action and backed him with regards to his comment to that fan - just creates unnecessary media hype and negative attention around the club, which sadly has not been helped by our own local radio presenter!

Shows their support I guess. Can only be a good think? Just hope we're not four or five points a drift at the bottom of the league, it's not exactly a selling point to bring players in. Though Nige will get the right players like most of the time... Would like a new left back.

We need to be spending £10 million a pop for players to take the place of what we already have.

No point messing around trying to pick up potential or bargains, got to go for it for the real deal right now.

Depends how you look at it. I'd rather us spend half a million on Mahrez or nothing on Wasilewski than £11m on Ross McCormack. If bargains are there to be taken advantage of, then I still say do so. However, if the right player for the team does happen to cost £10m, then Nigel shouldn't be afraid to go for them, so long as we aren't putting the financial future of the club in jeopardy by doing so.

We need to buy, that is for certain, we are not bottom of the league for no reason.

I'd like to see a new striker to partner Ulloa, a quality centre half and if possible a left back and a better goal keeper because I do not rate Kasper at this level.

It's not just about staying up, it's about improving beyond that.

If we're serious about staying in the premier league for any length of time, we need to improve in pretty much every area.

Because I doubt we are going to replace every player that needs replacing and Konch is worse than DeLaet :P
