We need to improve the atmosphere in the kop!!

We need more standing and make it like a blue wall like the Dortmund yellow wall. Their support is class even when they were bottom.

Make the most of the prem and let's get behind the players

lol lol Not a chance in hell of me being the drummer, that's just hilarious.

But I do reckon we should get on it ASAP,try the smallest one available first and take it from there. It probably won't be much louder than banging on the back anyway.

would the small one be loud enough for SK4 to hear? That's the only concern. But yes a drum in SK1 is a positive idea. Plus it saves your hands ;)

Sorry Gaz, you've been nominated, time to stand up and take one for your club. If it helps, we'll start to call you Ringo.

Instead of the club spending thousands on surround sound.

Would it not be cheaper to buy the correct version of WYS and put the words on screen.

Then play it as the teams come out and again as they come out at HT.

They play IFBB at wetspam and it sounds great.

Great idea to improve and coordinate the supporters noise. Great idea given the bigger crowds with some newer attending supporters. Don't know if it will be worth it on a cold February evening in the championship with around 20k though. The best way of generating atmosphere is undoubtedly having something to sing and cheer for. I state that a bit tongue in cheek because overall I support the idea.

I have no idea really mate as to how far the sound of the drum will travel, its just gets the ball rolling sort of thing. And yes it will save the old hands.

Drum and megaphone In sk1, keep time for everyone. The singing gets louder when someone bangs the backboards, but quite rightly the club doesn't like that.

The German crowds use drums and megaphones and they sing all game.

Clearly a number of people think that the drum is good.

Personally I think it has contributed to the demise of good old fashioned songs/chants.

Yes I admit it, I am an old git that gets nostalgic for the days of old.

Those that say constant singing doesn't raise the teams performance? So what?

I like the atmosphere for the atmosphere, it's one of the reasons that I go to live matches. I don't just support Leicester hoping they win something ( that would be nice), that is just one of a number of reasons for going to the football.

I would love it if we had the mad support of teams like the Turkish teams. Singing and chanting way before kick off, singing in huge numbers throughout the game.

And as for only one complaint?? The club is definitely lying.

When we switched stadiums, I had a season ticket at the back of L1.

The drum just wound us up and a few of us moved over to the back of the Family Stand near the Away fans.

Sorry, I don't have an answer. Atmosphere/the drum/ songs/chants have all been debated on here so many times. No answer has been arrived at.

My suggestion ( which many others have aired, SO MANY TIMES) will never be done.

Move the Kop to the Family Stand AND make it unreserved seating so the few 'singers' we have can congregate together.

Mate I'm old enough to remember them days as well, but there long gone and are never coming back.A different approach is drastically needed or the game we all fell in love with is going to die.If you seriously don't want the drum then fine but I'm defiantly in for having some sort of drum up there.

It's gone partly because of the drum, people don't know what to do without it. The answer is not introducing more drums.

Anyway, I'm telling you now you won't get a drum in the Kop.

Is the drummer from Deaf Leopard up to anything these days?

Don't worry about him, he's 'armless.

Here is the problem, two drummers 70 odd yards apart cannot play together as the sound travels it would be like a bad dj trying to mix two tracks with different bpm's.

You can here it now with the singing, part of the ground starts singing, others join in but the words are lost as you cannot all sing at the same time when at opposite ends of the ground.

If you need a 2nd drummer, it has to be completely independent of the L block one, this would lead to different songs at the same time in different areas of the ground but it's better than all trying to sing the songs when a sound delay is clearly heard and then losing words.

If the 2nd drum is smaller it would be a laughing stock like Bristol City a few seasons ago, Jobber took his, they had a snare drum.

'You can shove your tambourine up your ares', funny at the time but that's what a smaller drum would sound like.

Personally I'd drop the one we have but it's not upto me to make the decisions.

Im not sure it would be a problem as the sound doesn't travel in that stadium - one end is barely audible to the other, so two should be ok. Imo best to do something than leave things as they are.

I have never heard the drum in Sk1 and there is no problem with the chanting. We don't need a drum to get the kop singing, just some more goals please! Chanting is a part of football and does not need organising, it happens, stop spoiling one of the best things about football. Singing/chanting has nothing to do with the club. Football has been spoilt by many things, if spontaneous chanting goes, what is left?

You can see for yourself most weekends around the country.

I'm all for the use of a drum if it boosts the atmosphere.

I went to a Hertha Berlin game the other week and the use of a megaphone there was really effective. But maybe it's a suggestion that's better to build up to when more people actually get involved vocally?

I could just see it being used and the same people joining in. At least with a drum its more likely to get the clappers going.

Appreciate what you guys are trying to achieve

We never needed a drum in our day, but then everyone just shoved into position on the terracing and started singing.

However, these days the atmosphere is worse without the drum.

Who suggested we pipe the drum around the stadium?

What next, a little hand held device that emits the chant for you? That should go down well with all the passive muppets who would be better sending in a cardboard cutout of themselves and placing it on their seats.

Good luck Union FS with trying to counter the anti-atmosphere majority. There's a bloke who sits near me and never claps, not even when the team comes out. Another who never gives any encouragement, but did respond to the ' where were you when we were sh*t?' Chant, with ' we are sh*t now'.
