yeah part of me feels for Clarke for having to go out like this, regardless of that broken arm bollocks he gave Jimmy. One of the best.

Happy to see him running off home without the urn though.

Aussies looked terrified for large parts of this series quite frankly, not up for a fight at all.  All fire and brimstone when they were at home but when they came to England they retreated into their shells quite bashfully.

Loved listening to Five Live on the way to the match today, what an achievement. Big decisions were made and vindicated so far.

Five Ashes series victories in the last 7, for 20 years we were just desperate to win 1 in 7.

Fantastic.

I for one never thought we would win The Ashes this summer, I would of been quite happy with a 2-1 loss at the start of the summer. How glad I am to be wrong, England this summer have been a breath of fresh air, the whole series v New Zealand and now the first 4 tests of v Australia. There is a lot of promise with this side, you have the eleven players who have played in the Test at Trent Bridge and destroyed Australia and then you have Anderson, Plunkett, Rasheed, Ballance and all the young players who haven't had a chance in Test Cricket, the future is actually quite bright for English cricket, and another thing I didn't think I would be saying.. And under Cook as captain and Bayliss as coach then the young players coming through have two fantastic leaders to learn off. Fair play to Andrew Strauss as well, clearly done things the way he wanted, most of us all questioned his appointment and his early decisions and they have paid off. Blissful summer!

Fingers crossed we can finish the Series off in style at the Oval now, Cook can finally score an Ashes ton in England and we see fireworks from the rest!

Last thing, I really felt sorry for Clarke on Saturday, been a fantastic cricketer, a brilliant captain who has dealt with some shit whilst being captain, horrible injuries and the man is a class act on and off the pitch.

I was fortunate enough to be there for all 3 days and I doubt I'll ever see better than that.

The atmosphere on Thursday morning was amazing when the Aussies were dropping like flies. I almost felt a twinge of sorrow for the block of Aussie fans who'd travelled half way around the world to witness that debacle, fortunately I came to my senses 3 seconds later.

Nice that Root hit the head bogan to the boundary to bring up his 100.

David Willey took 3-27 then hit 100 off 41 balls in the T20 tonight.

Wonderful batting, hit Yardy for 34 in one over.

He really is something.

We've got some incredible young talent around at the minute, I watched him take apart Dilshan earlier in the year and he barely move the bat doing it. We could end up with 5,6,8 and 9 all being all rounders in the test side.

Do you think he knows it's between him and Jordan for an ODI spot? lol

Jordan into the attack now..

2.1

Jordan to Willey, SIX, welcomes him with a maximum, fuller length delivery outside off, stood tall and driven straight over the bowler's head

2.2

Jordan to Willey, FOUR, on a length and around off, in the slot, clears the front leg and swings it over the mid-on

2.3

Jordan to Willey, no run, comes down the track and slashes this back of a length delivery towards the diving extra cover

2.4

Jordan to Willey, FOUR, short and angling across, gets his eyes off as he tries to pull, off the outside edge flies over the keeper's head

2.5

Jordan to Willey, FOUR, length delivery outside off, stays on the crease and punches it through the gap at point, brilliantly placed by him

2.6

Jordan to Willey, no run, back of a length around off, once again he punches off the back foot but finds point this time

The over on Yardy was outrageous.

8.1

Yardy to Willey, SIX, comes round the wicket, on a length, middle and leg, gets down and sweeps it over the midwicket fence, gets to his fifty with a maximum

8.2

Yardy to Willey, FOUR, short and moving across, clears the front leg and hammers this away to wide of deep midwicket fence

8.3

Yardy to Willey, SIX, fullish outside off, gets down and slog-sweeps it over the wide of long-on fence

8.4

Yardy to Willey, SIX, comes over the wicket now, back of a length around the leg, pulls that nicely over the square leg fence

8.5

Yardy to Willey, SIX, fullish and outside off, moves across the stumps and dispatched it over the midwicket region once again, sheer power onto it!

8.6

Yardy to Willey, SIX, this time full toss around the off stump, moves across and then gets down and swung it nicely over the deep square leg fence, 34 runs of this Yardy's second over.

Is there any point in India playing away Test series? I can't remember the last time they turned up.

Sri Lanka trailed by 192 runs after the first innings.

Were 95/5 in the second innings.

Yet still won by 64 runs.

I'm gutted, saw Sri Lanka at 28/1 (odds not bating lol) yesterday and was tempted to have a dabble given the mental strength of India's batsman to grind out an innings these days, didn't bother.

Even £5 on that would have been a nice little earner!

They certainly seem to wave the white flag quicker than other nations. Still, I guess they're not that fussed when it comes to the long form of the game, as even average players can earn a kings ransom for turning and scoring a quick fire 30 or 40 in that abhorrent tournament.

Yep, it's destroyed India's test team for generations.

Well on a less positive note the English women team got thrashed in the ashes.  They played out an astonishing 436 dot balls from the 513 deliveries.

That'll get the crowds in.

Now that they're full time professionals there's got to be some accountability for such a shambolic performance with the bat - they kept making the same mistakes.

Would be very surprised if we made any changes.

Anyone watching the under 19s?

We have an opener called Lawrence who looks the business, apparantly already has a first class ton for Essex.
