Grandad. Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 Bat sensibly and score off the bad balls which will be bowled then we should chase this down with our depth. You weren't wrong Grandad.
purpleronnie Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 winning when chasing 300 is always a great achievement, add to that chasing 300 against the world champions is something special. I'll laugh my socks off if we win the decider.
Corky Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 What a summer this has been. This England side is fantastic value.
fuchsntf Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 Its always great when we beat the Aussies.Nice also to see we have, for the first time since the 60s, 20+ players who can/have made it at England level, within the same 2 yearsThat what made Australia strong nr1. Over many years now, the Aussies have found 2-3 players for 95% of their team sometimes both bowlers and batters, had 2-3 players behind each batting or bowler postion. We are still behind them on consistency, and specially disciplined bowling and Batting shot choice. The youth in the English team and being given the freedom to, have bad days. (Not bad months) get a fair crack of the whip. Plus they get listened to, sorry but only 10 years ago that wasnt the situation. Not only has the squad evolved, but also the admin, and selectors behind them....its been slow, but Straus was not the beginning, but he may have given that last kick or acceleration. Hussain-Fletcher, Vaughn-Fletcher, Straus-Flower,Moores setting up a better younger enviroment and the recent player-power.
Voll Blau Posted 12 September 2015 Posted 12 September 2015 What on earth have i just seen from Maxwell, unbelievable fielding! Valid.
Guest MattP Posted 12 September 2015 Posted 12 September 2015 Be great if we could win tomorrow, cap off a fine summer.
Osavo Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 That's a terrible decision by the umpire, could see quite easily in normal time that it was swinging well down the leg side. Roy is in good nick too so could be costly.
Guest MattP Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 Shocking start. Hales has been totally found out at this level.
leicsmac Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 That was bloody nasty. Hope Morgan is fine.
Swarles Barkley Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 Very kind of the players to try to finish the game before the leicester match. Much appreciated
Tom's Pasta Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 Early wicket, can we pull off a miracle?
marko Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 Early wicket, can we pull off a miracle? Quite simply... no.
ScouseFox Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 at least it'll be finished in time for our game.
Guest MattP Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Lost toss bowling first. Anything other than a 3-0 loss will be a bonus here, little preparation and a complete trial by spin, nothing for our seamers. We'll find out if Rashid can do the business though out here.
leicsmac Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Rather dreading this, to be honest. Our only hope is that Ali and Rashid are better at taking wickets than our batsmen will be at giving them away on this pitch (and they will be giving them away, we just can't handle quality spin).
Guest MattP Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Yasir Shah out for first test though which is a huge bonus.
leicsmac Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Well, that's a bizarre first strike. I'll take it, though!
Guest MattP Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Can't drop slip catches on pitches like this.
Guest MattP Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 I know it's early but you can see why the selectors took so long to get Rashid in. Looks well out his depth and bowls so many rank balls it's impossible for him to hold down an end.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Looks well out his depth and bowls so many rank balls it's impossible for him to hold down an end. Like Moeen, he's a boundary an over bowler.
marko Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 I know it's early but you can see why the selectors took so long to get Rashid in. Looks well out his depth and bowls so many rank balls it's impossible for him to hold down an end. Some real buffet bowling on offer. Wood and Stokes are at least getting a bit of movement with the old ball, but going to be a long hard slog to get anything from this after losing the toss.
Guest MattP Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 The seam bowlers have been tremendous today, don't deserve the score they are facing.
