bovril Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Sorry should have put in sports nah fvck the man, man
GaelicFox Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 OUCH! Indeed and all the train fares non refundable !!!
Guest Bilo Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Superb day! Declaring seems a pointless unless we're racking up a truly mammoth score. 350-400 runs would probably be unassailable and I'd advocate going some way from there, retake The Urn with real panache.
Tom's Pasta Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Watching the highlights now, actually feel quite sorry for the Aussies. Absolute humiliation
Voll Blau Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Aussie innings lasted 111 balls! Nelson strikes again!! The Aussies don't see that number as unlucky though. It's 87 (i.e. 100-13) for them.
MPH Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Sorry should have put in sports Found Rincewind's 2nd account everyone!
Corky Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Not sure, not a fan of a night watchman TBH, why be cautious in our position? What a day though. The last thing they want is our number 10 hanging around for an hour, adding another 40 at least.
yorkie1999 Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Highest runs for the Aussie's.... No balls and extras. 14.
purpleronnie Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 The last thing they want is our number 10 hanging around for an hour, adding another 40 at least. If you're a top batsmen you should be able to bat in any circumstances it just smacks of negativity and a nightswatchman has become antiquated in modern cricket yet we continue with it. Hopefully he wont last and bring the run rate down before a real batsmen comes in and we kick on.

Carl the Llama Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Not quite sure what happened today. When I opened the scorecard and saw that England appeared to be batting even though Australia had clearly just started running up their own first innings score, I had one of those moments of existential doubt where you wonder if you're perceiving the universe accurately or if you're being fed sensory impulses from a dream-state in a mechanised contraption which has given away its presence with a minor software glitch.
fuchsntf Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Its nice to see the Aussie selectors under pressure, what a poor exchange between the Marshes, sort of caused the Broad swamp, one could say. This attack on Clarke is ridiculous, he was a revalation after Ponting. like Bell, Cook and a few others in other teams before him, form varies, class is permanent, Clarke imo, has still a few years ahead , his captaincy is still tops. Great to see that Root turned out the winner in the end after the pub punch, from hooligan Warner. That said Warner has quietened down and is a great cricketer. But, what a great great Day, I watched the whole day on Sky . BROAD stood up beyond the call of duty yet again, but I dont think anybody seen this coming. We were caught many times over many years in the Aussie headlights. This was another payback moment.Yes I see Australia fighting back, but I really think it will be too much, unless the pitch really flattens out, lasting 4 days.If so Finn could be the 2nd half hero.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 I've been to 2 days Ashes cricket this year and seen 20 Aussie wickets for under 200 runs.
ozleicester Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Only 80 of the 111 balls were on the stumps.... the Aussies wouldve lasted longer if they let everything go
norwichfox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 I've just watched the Channel 5 Highlights, what a fantastic day's cricket for English cricket. I can't recall a more one sided days cricket in an Ashes game. I'd love to see us bat all day today and most of tomorrow

I thought it was pretty sensible last night, it had clouded over and no point sending a batsman like Stokes out who often struggles with an early short ball in those conditions. We don't need to worry abour run rate one bit, we've got four days left, I hope Wood stays there for a while, nothing more frustrating or demoralising for a bowler than struggling to get a tail ender out. Today and tomorrow should be the best batting conditions of the whole test so we should be looking to bat for a long as possible.
ramboacdc Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Indeed and all the train fares non refundable !!! did you get the ticket money back? a guy that works here said you dont get your money back if there is a result but you do if its weather.
surrifox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 calm down chaps - we need to bat at least until lunch!
Guest MattP Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Ball is hooping about when there is any cloud cover. Aussies praying for blue sky or this could even be over by tonight.
Ross-Kemp Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 390-9. Bat until lunch, try and build a 400 lead then have a good afternoon at them. Bit of cloud and we could be well on the way.
