Guest Bilo Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Nigel Farage has called for an Australian style wicket immigration system. All out in less than two hours.
Captain... Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Lyth's last three innings have been pressure off England in charge innings and he has failed to contribute in all 3, Cook needs a regular partner, but he also needs one that can contribute. Presuming we win this give Hales a shot at the Oval, or bring back Robson or Carberry.
Grandad. Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 I absolutely love Joe Roooooot. Agree regarding Lyth, if we do go on to win this Test match then I would bring Hales in, someone to hit out from the off, yeah may get out for the 20 odd but that is still more than what Lyth is contributing. If it wasn't for the Edgebaston team performance then I would of brought Hales in here at his home ground.
GaelicFox Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 I had day 4 edgebaston Day 4 trent bridge And Day 4 the oval Am I going to see any ashes cricket this summer ????

Robson was just as bad as Lyth at this level and Carberry isn't the answer imo, like you say Cookie does need a regular partner and at 34 Carberry wouldn't be the best long term option. Still want them to find a way of getting James Vince into the team. He's probably got Taylor and Ballance ahead of him, and the middle order isn't REALLY the problem as it is. Could Bell open? many questions

He does deserve his chance.
Super_horns Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Was Broad's bowling that inspired or was it also down to some awful Aussie batting? Cannot be the pitch as we've made a solid start (seeing as Lyth is a walking wicket anyway)
AKCJ Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Think Carberry was harshly treated (as was Compton). Suspect they'll go with Hales at The Oval mind. He does deserve his chance. Nah, Carberry wears ear rings. He had to go.
Corky Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Jimmy who? Incredible stuff again from this team, we do get thrashed a fair bit but on song we're so exciting.
Leicesterpool Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Been an excellent day, talk of declaring before the end of the day is ridiculous. They maybe poor, but you must never underestimate the Ozzie's. The weather is going to be good over Nottingham, so lets target well over 300 before considering declaring.
purpleronnie Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 This is boring. Just declare already. Bowl them out, test over in one day.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Root is sensational. Good support from Bairstow too.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Think we should build the score up more... get to 400... we could declare now and the Aussies hit 500 ... unlikely but it isn't impossible for them to do so...

Mark_w Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Root's passed 120, double the Australian first innings.
Captain... Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Love the night watchman great call sends out our intent to bat long into tomorrow really grind them into the ground, make sure their bowlers are shattered, physically and mentally for the oval.

Not sure, not a fan of a night watchman TBH, why be cautious in our position? What a day though.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 If I were England I would bat all day tomorrow without even thinking of declaring. Grind the quicks into the ground and completely demoralise them.
ktfox59 Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Got home at 12.30 looking forward to 5 cracking days of test match ashes cricket, only to find out i had already missed 33% of the whole match. What a performance from ex leics bowler Stuart Broad. 8-15 in 8 overs. Wow.
purpleronnie Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Sorry should have put in sports or in the existing cricket thread.
