We keep getting decent batting starts but then seem to go back to England of old in the middle overs. The constant attacking from the NZ series has gone.

That was better, the 100 from Taylor top notch, forget his lack of boundaries, 2 × 49 proves he has staying power

The middle order batsman, honestly failed again, Bairstow, Stokes, Ali.

They need to, think a little more...Run better between wickets scoring 1s and 2s probably before going for the big shots

Get 20 behind you...3×20 = 60 before taking big risks. The English batsman, unlike their middle order counter parts,

dont understand how much time they have.

Hales worries me, he loses his shape too early,3 games he hasnt been out to a good ball yet.

I must ask, I dont expect coaches, to make them better players, but shouldnt they have words with them when they are indisciplined, by being out within 4 games to simular shots.

Hales, Roy, should cut out the chip shots and go big, or keep it grounded

I would also be flexable with the middle batting order....

If Taylor is doing well, bring in Bairstow when last opener falls....If Taylor is struggling or out, Morgan comes in.

If Taylor, Bairstow score quickly and get biggish scores.Again Morgan to come in.

If Bairstow is out for less than 25, bring up Ali, to carry on attacking before Morgan.

Now I would still like to see Willey in, instead of Plunkett, or Woakes.

We should interchange bottom 6 batters more regularly.

I've never seen an English pitch turn like that in the second innings yesterday.

If they are playing on the same pitch on Sunday I'd be tempted to play three spinners.

Well done Yorkshire -retained the CC title with a second XI given the players not available to them away regaining the ashes.

  :appl:

Wouldn't exactly call it a second XI. Full of ex-internationals and players on the fringes. When Yorkshire are that strong, it's hard for anyone to compete with them. Even if they went back to their old policy of only picking players born within the county boundaries, they'd still be a strong contender for the title.

Looking at their squad hard to see anyone stopping them winning a couple more, probably have Lyth back as well.

My guess is the ECB wanted assurances Willey had plans to move to a bigger county before giving him a regular run. Woakes would be nowhere near the side if he plied his trade at, say, Worcestershire.
