I've been going to football games for over 30 years and I've never spent any time worrying about whether there is noise coming from the other stands (or even the one I'm in).

I read threads here a lot but don't normally post, however one thing that does annoy me is the plastic fan or armchair fan argument. Some of us had to move away from Leicester for work, some of us maybe twice a year if lucky get to come back to see family and yet cus we don't go to every game we are plastic or armchair fans.

I would love to go to every game, nothing I would love more, season ticket would be the first thing I would buy if I didn't have to work. Some of us try our best, I work every weekend, have been able to arrange a split shift so apart from first half hour I can listen to every game on foxes player then watch later on the sky select a match thing.

Get to come to about 2 or 3 games a year, don't tell family as that's more than I get to go see them but when I do your looking at a good £180 a pop with time off, fuel, car parking food and tickets etc, add to that the sky sub I have for that one reason only and my foxes player and a dongle to listen at work, I would be cheaper to get season ticket and go every week if lived there still, I wear my Leicester jacket, fleece and shirt when warmer all the time with pride but I'm just a plastic armchair fan.

Also so what if not every fan wants to go and sing, there are quiet people that want to go watch a game too, people from all walks of life and people who sit on their own quiet, I know I do if I go on my own and don't know anyone, also it's a nice break away from the norm.

Just wanted to post that some of us do all we can or feel comfortable doing, just cus we are not a stand up singer we are still fans and support the club and team too

When people refer to "plastic armchair fans" then they aren't referring to people like you.

Modern stadia design/accoustics does not lend itself to sound retention. old styled pitched roof does. Mix that with seating and you have your answer. The atmosphere and singing in p1 (family stand next to say fans) is decent. Cannot hear kop but then kop cannot hear us. One thing I do notice is that when I do sing I find it harder to concentrate on the game to the same level. It's a different match experience

I think the atmosphere is not too bad considering that attempts to make noise are hampered by the design of the stadium and the location of the away fans as had been discussed at length for years.

From where I sit, in the corner of the main stand, sort of near the restaurant, all I can hear is the away fans, L1 and sometimes the family stand.

If I look to the kop the diagonally opposite corner I can see fans clapping and "bouncing" but I cannot hear I thing. The sound just doesn't travel.

The club, I think, doesn't share the will to create the boisterous atmosphere that the fans do. They want it family friendly and "sterilised". The most obvious examples of this are the deliberate placement of the away fans and the playing of music over the PA system before the match which downs out any attempt by both sets of fans to build an atmosphere.

All the above points may be valid to an extent, but the biggest factor is fans don't wanna sing. You can play the blame game season after season but that won't do a damn thing.

This time last year I was a game or two away from not bothering anymore, now I sing for 90 minutes around people that do the same.If the other side of the ground can't hear us then tough I'm still having a laugh.

Fair enough. If I wanted to sing for 90 minutes I'd come and join you!

City fans have been good home and away this season, considering some of the pathetic performances and results.

Maybe you should visit more away grounds, and then tell me how poor we are.

Yesterday wasn't great, but tell me how the fans can get up for it, when the team performs like that.

We have backed them all season good and bad performances, but it's getting harder when we continue to keep performing like yesterday.

But its upto the crowd to get the team going when they are not playing well

I thought it was better on Saturday than against Man Utd?

Nothing to do with drinking from 3pm Friday till 3pm Saturday with an hour and half sleep...... lol

I think the drum is SK1 is sh!te

Doesnt really do anything for the atmosphere, sorry to be a kill joy. Feel like I'm at a caribbean carnival not the football

There is definitely worse home crowds in the league (ie Villa) and our away support is fantastic. But as a whole home crowd, it feels like sing when we're winning but if anything goes wrong then its daggers out, scapegoats, moan and groan of every touch that goes astray. Its an all or nothing attitude, which is similar to certain posters on FT! We are either world beaters or relegation certs depending entirely on the last result...

What we need is a steel drum.

I don't like Leicester......no no

I love um! lol

People have mentioned the possible explanations for the poor atmosphere at times but what annoys me the most is that we have shown we are capable of very good atmospheres this season, sadly that only seems to be the case against the big teams.

Atmosphere against teams like arsenal, spurs, man city and obviously Man U have been pretty good to be honest even when we've been losing. Against the mid or bottom of the table teams the majority of the fans aren't as bothered and most only make noise to moan at mistakes or abuse the ref for bad decisions. Last 2 games the atmosphere has been pretty awful.

My mate whos a Middlesbrough fan came with me to the Stoke game and thinks our home support is better than a fair few premier league teams that he's visited in recent years.

It's been better than the past ten seasons so what are you moaning about

Our home atmosphere is miles better than at least half of the teams in this league as well, have you actually visited anybody else's grounds this season?

Take stoke for example, their singing section comprised of about ten blokes. At least you can actually hear our fans on the TV at home games.

Honestly can't see how you've been to any away games if you think our home support is ****

Finally a chant that may actually take off :D

Whilst we could as a fan base do better, there really is far worse, both at this level and below. We're not Palace, but people I know who've gone to the KP over the years have always commented our home support is ok. I reckon a lot of it is down to expectation. I take in a few MK Dons games when Leicester aren't playing as they're my local team and I never expect any noise from the home or away crowd, any noise is a bonus. From my experience of taking in Bundesliga games, I expect nothing short of a barrage of noise. I rememer watching Wolfsburg being tonked 5-1 at home to Hertha on a Sunday afternoon and thinking the atmosphere was bang average. Truth be told it was good, but I'd seen Dortmund beat Leverkusen 3-0 the day before and it swayed expectations.

Been to all but 2 away games this year and genuinely think ours is 1 of the best! Obviously judging the other stadiums on the 1 game of the season we have there isn't particularly reliable, but that's all I can go by.
