What has Marc Albrighton done?

Recommended Posts

Title says it all, after 2 decent displays he gets dropped and players who have performed inaptly all season stay in the team, i.e  Vardy and Nugent who have 3 goals between them. In the early part of the season a large number of our goals came from crosses into the box and whilst these were not delivered by Albrighton he at least, has this ability to deliver a decent ball.

Another one of Pearson's strange choices this season and his lack of understanding of what it takes to stay in the premier league.

Ulloa wasnt playing so Albrighton wasnt going to as Albright best qualities are crossing and with Nugent and Vardy getting on to crosses isnt there strong point

We don't see them train, we don't know what's going on in their personal lives, we don't how fit they are, we don't know whether they're mentally and physically in a position to play well. Put simply, we know **** all about why decisions were made and because of that we are not really in a position to decide how good/bad the decisions were. Certainly we don't know enough to say that Pearson doesn't understand what it takes to stay in the Premier League, and as you're posting on a football forum rather than managing a football team, I imagine it's fair to assume that you don't understand what it takes to keep a football team in the Premier League, especially one that is the second cheapest in the division.

Well that's not true is it, we know Albrighton is as he has done so two weeks running prior to this.

And nothing could have possibly happened during the Aston Villa game or between the Villa and Stoke games to change that. Absolutely impossible.

This.

Although i wouldnt have minded seeing Albrighton and Ulloa start ahead of Schluup and Vardy but hindsight is a wonderful thing

Villa game gets mam of match then doesn't play him against Stoke strange one pearson

And stop tickering with a winning squad from last week

It couldn't have been very serious as he was on the bench.

Think we can assume that it was a management decision and it was wrong.

Physically, pretty much so. He's clearly not carrying an injury as he's in the squad

Mentally, nothings been reported, and if he's not in mental state to play (ignoring the fact he's a pro footballer and should always be ready to play regardless, seriously incidents aside)  again, why is he in the squad at all.

Your being pedantic, he's been dropping Albrighton all season and if he wasn't fit to play he wouldn't of been named on the bench, quite obviously just been dropped because Schlupp is back. You don't have to back every single last thing that Nigel Pearson does to the extent that you make up fake reasons for him not picking players you know.

Well as said above we have seen him play for the last 2 weeks, he has been training all week, yes I know this is true and whilst I may not be managing a PL team who is currently bottom of the league I have every right to question certain aspects of team selection and the constant changing of tactics and staff alongside lack of what is really required and that is a proven CM player, and by the way... I do see them train, I work for the Academy

He's not made a reason up he's just said it's possible, which it is. The bloke could have had the sniffles all week for all we know.

I doubt it, the better player so far this season in Schlupp came in for him. Hardly crime of the century. If we'd lost and had Schlupp on the bench we'd have the other side of the forum slating him for not starting Schlupp.

I'm not making things up, I'm saying you're questioning things based on speculation rather than any idea of what's actually happening or happened. And that's true.

No Mark it's not speculation, as he was in the squad, therefore fit to play, therefore not picked for footballing reasons than any potential weird and wonderful reason outside of football. That's not speculation.

Lets get real, he was fine. And that's why he was included in the squad.

tbh marc would be a world beater in the championship, good for next year.

Why, will we be selling him to a Championship team?

He could have not been quite up to it, but Nigel may have put him in the squad so that in the event of both wingers being forced off he could come on despite not being 100%. Again I'm not saying that's the case, but we don't know.

So no player somewhat under the weather has never been included in a squad ever? And you ask for him to get real. It can and does happen, do I think it was the case this time? Probably not, but it's certainly not impossible like you are making out.

Oh yes we do... unless he cam down with something on Saturday morning as he was fine when I saw him on Friday.. so we probably do he was fine.. anyway its just a point and not getting into arguments but thought a strange one... oh well as said it will be interesting to see who stays in the Championship hopefully Albrighton does but given that he has not been given a chance much this season probably not... One reason may be that he has been caught doing the same as Matt Mills....

But that's just stupid. your basically saying we are naming two wingers on the bench, one of which "isn't quite up to it" in case of both wingers having to go off, could of been the case? Deary me.

What if both CB's had to go off?

Basically, given he's played well in the last two games, was named in the squad ahead of fully fit team mates, the club have not reported any problems with his Physical or mental fitness (they normally do when there is a problem) and him not getting on the pitch magically seems to coincide with the return of Jeffrey Schlupp, is enough to put it beyond reasonable doubt that he was dropped for footballing issues.

Generally speaking people should be able to discuss this decision as an issue without you trying to form a cloud of mystery around the whole issue for the sole purpose of absolving Pearson of blame for what some people view to be a shit decision.

Did you give him a medical/fitness test when you met him on Friday?
