Jan transfer window - is that it ?

I remember the last couple of weeks in the summer when a few of us were saying he's had all summer to do business , we were promoted before anyone else , we didn't have a play off final and didn't know what our fate would be and what did pearson say " we have identified targets " towards the end of the summer window everyone on here was saying calm down there's still time to go quite similar to what we're saying now funnily enough etc well he failed in his dealings then and basically we were way short and now he knows it , it's a similar scenario now he failed once and personally I think he'll fail again in the market he doesn't fill me with confidence at all !

I just hope we will still add better players than we already have by the end of the window, not players that are no better, or players we will never play, or more recruits for the under 21's, like the last end of the window.

If we fail to buy anybody decent, I would suspect the club have no real faith in remaining in the premier league, and maybe all the blame doesn't lay at robinson door, after the last poor window.

Yes we have a new striker, we will have to see how long it takes him to settle, and wether he will be starved of service due to the lack of quality behind him.

It's obvious to everybody we are probaly 3 more decent quality signings away, but the manager and club don't seem in a rush to get them in, yes deals take time, but a team with our results haven't got time, the sooner the better if we are bothering.

Hence that's why we all told him to buy in the summer !!!!!!

1 - Not Pearson's fault. We have Terry Robinson to blame for that.

2 - How has Pearson not given you any confidence in the transfer market?! Knockaert, Mahrez, James, Drinkwater, Vardy, De Laet, Wes Morgan - to name a few. All players absolutely pivotal in last years success. All unheard of until Pearson and his team scouted and signed them.

It's fairly amazing how in 12 months, you've "lost faith".

I don't get this whole "urgh, everything takes so long, why can't we just sign a player in 5 minutes like you can on Football Manager" attitude.

There is a multitude of things that can effect a transfer. I am fairly sure Nigel isn't just sat there twiddling his thumbs. Kramaric was different as the player obviously took a while to decide whether he wanted to come here - plus the additional wait for the work permit. Schwarzer's transfer was quick, was it not?

What do you want Pearson to do? Rush a signing? Not a chance - not his style and in our predicament, not the best solution. I am more than sure that Nigel knows what he is looking for.

Calm down and stop over reacting - it makes you look a little silly.

I've learnt not to get my hopes up when it comes to pearson and his tight fisted awkward transfer ways ie we won't spend over on wages and if it gets expensive were out ! Their talking still about the possibly of 3 but with under 2 weeks left can you seriously see it ? It seems to take us so long to conclude a deal so personally I don't hold out too much hope , they've lost naughton who went for 5 m , reports suggest we offered 3 m so he's gone , the japanese striker link has stalled over the fee and Maloney said no , so all in all and with Pearson's previous dealings I don't hold out too much hope no !

Yeah, that same 'tight-fisted' manager who has spent £17mil this season.

If the players don't want to come, what can he do? Seriously asking.

We have a manager who is stubborn , falls out with players its his way or the highway and were told it wasn't his fault all along , it's terry Robinson do me a favour I can't imagine for one minute if pearson was unhappy with something it wouldn't have changed straight away he's just not the type to be told how to operate !! Deep down he knows it's his fault how things have progressed since we went up , his stubborn attitude to stick with his old guard and looking for "perfect players " has got us into this mess I don't see it any other way that's just my opinion

Calm down ? He has what 12 days left to bring a minimum of 3 quality players and if he doesn't were down its that simple !

Will he do it , not a chance !!

So which players has he supposedly fallen out with then, do enlighten us

Awful recruitment in the summer which practically blew any realistic chance we had of surviving. Bobbins took the flack for that.

I'm amazed we managed to get Kramaric considering we were bottom and others were interested. Deffo means he will be shite now :P

Pearson knows this squad is good enough though so we dont really need anyone else (Cambiasso can play left back).

Football is a season of two halves.

Not necessarily. Admittedly, it doesn't look good. But to write us off before the end of January would be silly. Especially when we're 3 points from safety. So far, we've had 2 quality additions, in Schwarzer and Kramaric. We aren't a million miles from being competitive in this league.

I still fail to understand why you don't trust Pearson to come good. What reason has he given you to do...... y'know what. **** it. I'm wasting my breath here.

He has almost two weeks left to sign up to three new players (if required).

You do know that the majority of transfer dealings in January often happen towards the very end?

Long contract negotiations, clubs still holding out for a cheaper alternative if suddenly available, clubs having to start new negotiations because the first option on the wish list is no longer available, etc. All elements that add up and result in prolonged transfer activity.

100%  there will be at least 2 more new faces before the end of the window. I would say an attacking midfielder for sure, and either a versatile defender or the Japanese striker. Maybe both, though rather not the Japanese striker if there's a choice. Try and get a loan or 2 done if they can't get permanent deals sorted by the last week of the month

Surely we are looking at a LB? Paul Konchesky is not the answer to our PL survival & if NP thinks he is then I'll have whatever NP's smoking....

Another CB would be nice aswell, someone who is comfortable with the ball & doesn't just lump it forward like most of our CB's do

A creative midfielder wouldn't go a miss either to help Kramaric & co.. A big assed machine in midfield would help aswell, someone built like a brick shit house

So yeah unfortunately we imo are still 4 players short & yes I know it's hard to get players in these windows but if we have to break the bank we must because we are dealing with fine lines here.. If we get relegated well we should recoup what we paid, we gotta take a risk!

The fans have wanted Konchesky out for some time, despite numerous windows being open we've hardly been so much as linked with a left back, ironically it is now De Laet who's got a battle on for his place.

I think it is safe to say Konchesky is here for the rest of this season and possibly even the next one. Nigel seems to like him.

Seen nothing to suggest the current squad has the quality to cut it in this league. Which leads me to look at our underwhelming summer recruitment. Don't care who was responsible but i do know it's proved to be a massive error of judgement.

We need to get at least 3 in before the window ends, priorties being a left back, another centre back, midfielder who can dictate the play and a forward with some intelligence who can link the play up.

Given our usual drawn out approach to transfers i'm not confident we'll get the required bodies in, which for me means we'll go down unless there's a massive turnaround in form...

I'm not bothered about us bringing in a left-back. Surely I'm not the only one?

I disagree with the opinion that a lack of transfer activity shows we're willing to get relegated. If anything, the lack of activity may suggest that Pearson actually has faith in the current players.

I've said it before but relegation is between about 6 teams. Signing a load of players won't change that. It will still be scrappy. Signing more players will just increase the risk of financial difficulty if we are relegated. If we put results into a bit more perspective you start to see that there is a ridiculously thin line between success and failure. If you remove 2 dodgy penalties, 1 suicidal back pass, a lucky own goal and a last minute free-kick, we'd have an extra 6 points and be in 14th. The same applies to other clubs, a couple of freak mistakes and a few horrendous refereeing decisions and a whole season can be completely written off.

Probably the most rational thing I've read on here in a long while. Things go a different way in a couple of games and as fickle as football fans are we'd be deluding ourselves thinking top half would be achievable.

And if my mum had wheels she would be a trolley. Reality please people. Mistakes, bad calls etc are part of the game. I would expect all managers moan about bad calls costing games etc. The season is long. And all work out in the end. We got the calls against Man Utd to our favor. The reality is, is that we are not ready for the PL with this current squad and coaching staff.
