MooseBreath Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Are you the nine year old girl that wrote it? Nicely googled
The People's Hero Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 What sort of size frame would you be using? I may have some decent input in backgrounds I like the handwritten approach suggestion also. How is your handwriting?
Rincewind Posted 8 February 2015 Author Posted 8 February 2015 my handwriting is awful. I was going to pt them in 10x8 but I have looked at others and there are some with smaller like 6x4. Landscape with a picture on one side. Not sure if I have the skills now to do really good ones.If the poem needs to be in a quality frame the initial outlay is going to be expensive and I would have to sell a few to break even.
The People's Hero Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Buying frames is a bad idea since it's down to taste etc. We only do plain frames.
Rincewind Posted 14 February 2015 Author Posted 14 February 2015 I'm thinking of putting a second volume op poetry together. I have enough, I just have to find the better ones and come up with a title. It is fairly easy to do with Amazon. Upload a PDF add a cover and they collate it.

Hand written, no matter how spidery, would look much better. It is the uniqueness that would sell it for me.RE frames, use some reclaimed wood and make one yourself. Or just write on the wood directly. Anyone can buy a frame and print some words to stick inside. But a handwritten poem in a handmade frame would be very nice. Or transfer a picture and text to a piece of wood, like this http://m.instructables.com/id/Image-Transfer-to-Wood/
MooseBreath Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 This is all starting to sound like quite hard work.
bovril Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 Fine margins they say, We should give him the season, They say, We go again.
Rincewind Posted 21 February 2015 Author Posted 21 February 2015 i have about completed the set up for my next book. just need to find a cover. The ones offered by Amazon don't seem as varied this time. Flowers and trees/woodland. Title Rantings of a bus pass holder. Special rates to FT members.
Merging Cultures Posted 21 February 2015 Posted 21 February 2015 This is all starting to sound like quite hard work.I'd have thought you'd appreciate that making money requires hard work?If only it was as easy as printing some words on a picture of a rose.
MrSpaM Posted 21 February 2015 Posted 21 February 2015 I'd check those images aren't copyrighted before trying to sell prints of them

Rincewind Posted 21 February 2015 Author Posted 21 February 2015 this is an image idea for the front cover of my new book. I could not find an appropriate one on the amazon site. i need to convert it to a pdf or paste the image on. i quite like it as it depicts what the title means and it will please a couple of landlords that their pubs are featured. it gives an idea of what is there to look forward to as you get older. railway/ bus passes camra meetings libraries and getting to know the local landlords
Rincewind Posted 22 February 2015 Author Posted 22 February 2015 about completed it but i was unable to see the cover. it is being reviewed. managed to convert to a pdf so fingers crossed. now i hope the hind is open for the game

Rincewind Posted 23 February 2015 Author Posted 23 February 2015 i started again and used one of their cover images. i found one which was not one i wanted but not bad. a letter box with a pile of letters on a doormat mostly bills. just have to wait for the review.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 The more I think about this the more I think it's a good idea, as long as the printing and the frame is a decent quality. You won't make a fortune out of it but it could be a nice sideline. We'll make an evil capitalist out of you yet Ken. This. Go for it, Ken.
Rincewind Posted 24 February 2015 Author Posted 24 February 2015 The one draw back is i am not very skillful with my hands. I just wanted something simple that would not take much time. Maybe if I was younger or had a partner. had to submit my book for review again. i mentioned my current book and its isbn which confused them as they thought i had two for the new one.I also said it was available from Amazon and if i do that i have to mention other outlets.
Merging Cultures Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 The wind howls The dog hides The rain pours The light fades Is it the end? Nearly so Just 5 more mins and time to go The kids need food I'd better cook Chicken or beef They'll still complain
Babylon Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 If you are only going to offer one type of print, keep it quite simple and generic to hit mass market. If you can offer more than one style then you can offer different colours, fonts etc to try and match more specific tastes. Keep the copy right info small (nobody wants to see your info) and keep it all aligned to the centre.
Guest MattP Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Like the idea of translating it to Latin as well. Gives it a nice traditional touch. This business I've a feeling could pay Boris Blood I'll take ten today Will triple in value I dare say If the Tories get stay in power in May
Babylon Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Like the idea of translating it to Latin as well. Gives it a nice traditional touch. Ha... well yeah if he'd posted the actual words I'd have just copied and pasted. I'll be buggered if I'm retyping it.
