GaelicFox Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27387616 We have spent £20m ....its a paltry sum for a club with a stadium that virtually sells out , good hospitality earning capacity and no debts to service (supposedly ) promotion was worth £120m to the club by all known calculations and maybe more over 3/4 years inc parachute payments Yet after tomorrow we can transfer no more players for the 14/15 season and that's it really then , £20m its paltry sum really , we never really gave ourselves a chance to stay up I'm greatful to his owner and his family for what they have done for leicester , maybe it's not them really in charge off the field , but really don't talk spending 180m to get into europe when that's going to take 9 years to spend at this rate and all we will be is another championship team rolling the dice in that mad house of a league I do feel a bit like there was a lot of hype and BS to sell season tickets The reality waS they were never going to do anything other than burnley planned on doing Take the cash and make club safe , which is cool , but don't sell us bull

l444ry Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 Very odd if no other players are brought in. I was under the impression (from certain quarters on here) that the club sacked our transfer guru a few months ago because of this and Nigel Pearson had no part in our pre-season lack of activity.

Hull and Cardiff spent £30-£40m I think. We've clearly had the intention to spend a bit more, but there is no point in spending it for the sake of spending it If you can't get the deals though you want.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't there. But there are other things to consider not just fees and wages, but relegation clauses. I would not be shocked if many deals failed down to that sort of thing, if we could guarantee £1000m each season for the next 4 years then no problem. But we can't so we need to plan accordingly, which means wage drops for anyone coming in on big money. Something many aren't going to want to do.

Fair point but the guy has spent that on jets in last few years it's pocket money to him This isn't his pension pot it's a branding exercise It's marque buy for him to give all his businesses a PR boost globally and I should say I don't blaim him for the spending or lack of it I think the execs at the club need closer examination .....Springer investigating and poking the wrong people ....I'm not sure that's a coincidence either

shailen Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 if we want to become a real force in English football, you need to invest in the foundations of the club that produce the best young players. Look at United and the class of 92, or Southampton in the modern day. Throwing money at big players doesnt work in the long term, look at Blackburn back in the day. Only City have made it work from that position, and they have billions of pounds. It may mean we get relegated this season, but if we come back we will be in a stronger position to stay up

We live in a 24hr news world deals failing on those grounds make news ....leicester didn't make enough ripples Your points are valid but , there is probably some truth to those points , but I'm not sure too much given in this news driven media hyperbole era we virtually get most of the ins and outs around all clubs business

I'd love your point to be true , the club said we are going to build a structure for the future ...build a world class academy and attract the best Truth is there are some championship teams with better academy's than ours is But yea I'd support that process "Lads we are going to like go down but this windfall is going to make us the best Midlands accademy by Miles"
