Lamby Posted 22 September 2007 Share Posted 22 September 2007 I dont know, didnt go, but can you please tell us how poor we were from a neutral perspective? You were poor in the first half, only had about 2 shots. You did better in the second half but i took more intrest in a big fire than your attacks. C-man Posted 22 September 2007 Share Posted 22 September 2007 Only just reading about the match, as I didn't go, or listen. Megson's substituions today were insane, indefendable.

Neutral he said. And that is just plain disrespectful. Twat. Fact is that we must've been knackered from the forest game. Charlton aint all that, had to come from behind against Colchester, and managed to scab another win from comin back from 2-0 down. Point was the least we should've went there lookin for. martyn Posted 22 September 2007 Share Posted 22 September 2007 What an absolutely abysmal, shocking performance. The defending for the goals was absolutely comical and will have to be seen to be believed, innocuous balls coming into our box dealt with in hilariously bad fashion leading to a clear shot 6 yards out for Iwelumo/Varney. McAuley was hopeless and couldn't cope with Iwelumo aerially 1st half, and then Varney's pace second half. What the hell has happened to Stearman, he's a shadow of the player who looked so promising at 17. Chambers in central midfield???? I can't really blame him for being absolutely abysmal considering he was out of position. Sheehan clearly didn't fancy getting involved against Mills and was equally rubbish when trying to double up with Mattock against Lloyd Sam. The only players to come out with any credit were Clemence who managed to look half decent considering the shite around him and Mattock, who dealt well 2nd half considering he was the entire left side (well he was the entire left side for 90 minutes considering Sheehans woeful contribution. The support was understandably quiet except for the pocket of chavs in the corner singing their usual - i particularly loved the chant of "We want our money back" followed instantly by "Stand up, and support your team"....priceless. Oh and one fan got chucked out for throttling some guy causing his girlfriend to go hysterical. So, all in all, a pleasant day.
Thracian Posted 22 September 2007 Share Posted 22 September 2007 You complained that MA had not been given a fair crack of the whip, that Mandaric was disgusting for having sacked him...and yet you are advocating sacking Megson in place of Burley. Not quite. I said "yes please" on the basis of "if the situation arose". I don't really care if he's sacked or not to be honest. We'll go our own way whatever. But as to your comments, Martin Allen wasn't given a fair crack - and he was ninth in the table, not in the bottom four. Things went wrong with Allen that I feel sure could have been largely sorted out with a bit of diplomacy and common sense. If it meant transferring a few of the pre-Allen "superstars" so what?. But when he left I named several managers I'd be happy to have instead. Megson wasn't one of them because, although he's been both successful and unsuccessful, I don't think he's ever been known as an "attacking manager". And is he anymore popular with players than Allen? We have had successive defensively biased managers and each one has failed. Martin Allen was the first one for years who showed real desire to attack and the improvement, even in the Blackpool defeat, was obvious. Now, not only do we have a new regime but a sizeable group of players who expected to be playing under someone else. Hardly the recipe for unity as I suspect has been demonstrated. There have been three games of the Megson regime and none has been impressive. QPr we ifted two points with bizarre substitutions and today sounded like a shambles from start to finish. Look at the table now. It makes you cry. Yet Megson's appointment was made against many fans wishes. Why, just for once, don't our leaders take proper notice of the fans views?. Look at the poll for pity's sake. That's not about me. It's a commentary on the popularity of Megson's appointment. That reaction isn't about a defeat. It took ages for any volume of fans to want either Levein or Kelly out. It's about the fact that so few people approved the appointment in the first place. And Mandaric is understandably appealing for unity because he's dropped successive bricks so he's limping on both legs. I sympathise with that. And I'll meet him Thursday and any Thursday he likes if he sincerely wants things to improve at Leicester. But he won't flannel me and he won't make any impression at all unless he starts thinking about playing to our club's strengths instead of trying to duplicate the MON era. We don't have those MON players at the club any more and it is no use MM, Gary Megson, Gerry Taggart or Steve Walsh pretending we do. Nothing about the structure of the club is set up for producing players like those. And in today's climate I'm not sure the likes of Walsh and Taggart would stay on the pitch long enough to shine. There are players around who compliment our style. Kishishev, N'Gotty, King, Kaebi, Campbell and others. If you're going to have a passing team you have to surround passers with passers. It has to run right through the team. We have to make a choice. Do we go for a committed creative side or do we rebuld in a completely different image?. Lord Nibblington Posted 22 September 2007 Share Posted 22 September 2007 I find it interesting that in his post match comments, Megson tells us that "we had many defensive players in positions that they are not used too." Thracian Posted 22 September 2007 Share Posted 22 September 2007 Chambers was alright there against Forest in midweek, looked pretty composed. Didn't release the ball quick enough for me. Ran into what became dead ends. I'm not wishing to be critical of him. He's a good rightback and why we don't use him there I've no idea. Apart from internal politics perhaps. Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 September 2007 Share Posted 22 September 2007 In all fairness to Megson, this probably was out toughest game of the year, the best team in the division away. However, I expected more from the team. Just to show a bit of dynamism or bite isn't too much to ask, and I still don't understand why Ferreira or Kaebi haven't been used. Lillehamring Posted 22 September 2007 Share Posted 22 September 2007 Allen lost his first game. I don't remember anyone wanting him out. We had more than 20 chances that day and looked something like a football team, as we did against Watford. eh? practically everyone on here was calling for his head after blackpool, amazed that we'd lost a game we should have won.... or something. i'm trying as hard as anyone to believe in megson, but the squad was completely wrong today, the substitutions wer nonsensical, and where has the momentum and spirit following forest - what on earth is going on? Trumpet Posted 22 September 2007 Share Posted 22 September 2007 Unbelievable mate. No excuse. Even if Hume had picked up a knock, why a defensive player? Why not have the option on the bench to bring an attacking player on?! Kaebi? Ferreira?

He only ever kept it at 2 upfront aswell... 2-0 down, take off an attacking minded player, bring on a defensive player, and still keep 2 upfront all game, why not go out on the attack, we didnt have nothing to lose at that point. Simon Posted 22 September 2007 Share Posted 22 September 2007 I'm sorry, I don't buy all this detrimental 'we don't have good enough players' shit. We have players that are good enough, we're just not using them, and the one's we are using are not being used in the right way. I think that's abundantly clear. Get them motivated Megson. Bringing in half a dozen players is not going to be the solution. I sincerely hope my worst fears aren't realised, cause right now QPR sounded good compared to what I heard and what people have said about the sack of shit produced today.
