Southampton looking at Rafa

Very hypothetical, but if Pearson was to go and Adkins became available, I'd take him like a shot.

Benitez would be a great choice for Saints, but hopefully Adkins will get more time.

Don't understand why they would even think about getting rid after what he did for them, hate it when clubs do that.

They have hardly had the easiest of starts to the season with who they have played so far either!

Nigel Adkins is one of a few managers I have the utmost respect for. To go from being a physio to being a successful manager playing the type of football he got Southampton playing is magical. If they do sack him, which would be a disgrace then he'd be my choice if we were to find ourselves needing a new manager at some point this season.

Adkins is one of the nicest guys in the game, not big headed plus has plenty of time for fans. Would welcome him to this club with open arms, if at to come Pearson going Southampton at us getting Adkins then let it so be. He also got a great cv took small club Scunthorpe to the championship twice, survived aswell! plus took Southampton two back to back promotions.

I remember hear a story once about him, where the team lost three nil to somebody at home, after the game Adkins went down to the club bar and explained and apologized for the result, spoke to a pub full of unhappy supporters!.

Great manager, needs more time at saints though. Awful run of fixtures to open with but he took both Manchester clubs close. Rafa would be a sensational coup though

You also look at the work he did with Scunthorpe, taking them up twice and keeping them in the Championship beyond one season- he's had an incredible six years.

Seems like a top guy too, very warm and positive.

Adkins deserves a lot of time to get this right. If they are rock bottom and way off the pace at Jan/Feb, then a change may be considered, but before then a sacking would be madness. He has earned a lot of patience. As someone said...totally hypothetical but when our next manager hunt comes, if Adkins was available I would welcome him here.

It's not really that much of a surprise. Lets face it, they used Adkins to get them up, and now because they're in the Premiership they're desperate for a big name. They just want an excuse to sack him and bring someone else in, I bet they were rubbing their hands together when they saw Man City, Man Utd and Arsenal in their first 4 fixtures.

A lot of owners think this way now, QPR never wanted to stick with Warnock, and even if Pearson was to get us up they'd get rid of him at the first opportunity.

For all Nigel Adkins has done for that club, he deserves an entire season in the Premier League.

It was nice to see Southampton finally get their first win. They put in such an effort in the first three games of the season, and those games vs. Man City and Man Utd were spectacular (Saints fans must have had a few heart attacks in those).

It's also good to see Rickie Lambert get his moment in the sun after a hell of a career in the League. He's joint top-scorer in the Premier League right now.

Nobody gave Southampton a prayer of surviving this season. I really hope they stay up.
