Lets Be having You Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/details.asp?k...412008336992731 would love to kno what club
Ric Flair Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Chelsea have already had a bid for him turned down earlier in the season.
Koke Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Its probably Chelsea again. Or maybe Spurs, I wouldn't put it past them either.
teblin Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Chelsea have already had a bid for him turned down earlier in the season. Think villa and man utd were also linked in the last window.
Thracian Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 I mentioned last season that two of the top four clubs were interested in Mattock and that he was being "fast-tracked" to increase his value. It wouldn't surprise me if Villa were interested too, especially as the lad played so well there when we beat them in the Cup.
Fox in a Box Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Leicester City have turned down a substantial seven-figure offer from a Premier League club for teenage defender Joe Mattock. The 17-year-old England Under-21 cap has been of keen interest to several clubs. This latest development underlines the determination for City to no longer be an easy touch as a selling club. The top-flight club has not been named. But City's rejection of the offer will be good news for manager Ian Holloway, who is trying to build a blend of good, experienced players and young talent like Mattock. Holloway's main boost came on Saturday when his new-look side, showing that very combination, beat Coventry City 2-0 at the Walkers Stadium. On a day when six players made their home debut, City turned in a terrific performance to give Holloway his third win in 13 games to move up to 19th in the Coca-Cola Championship table. He said: “What we need to do is become more consistent. I need more changes in certain areas. “We had five or six new players trying to impress this crowd and that made a difference. “Too many have been here too long and have been feeling negative. I need to change it around. “We were balanced but, if I get two or three injuries, I still haven't got much cover. So I am going to have to be clever, move some on and loan some out if I can. “This was only a start. We need to do well game after game after game, because where we are in the division is unacceptable.” The delayed arrival on loan of Aston Villa attacker Isiah Osbourne is still on the cards and he could be here in the next 24 hours. He stayed at Villa for treatment on a dead leg and is now fully fit. City are considering asking referee Martin Atkinson to review the yellow card he gave to Patrick Kisnorbo for deliberate handball, a fifth caution which would rule him out of Saturday's trip to Norwich.
Lester LXXIV Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 ...City are considering asking referee Martin Atkinson to review the yellow card he gave to Patrick Kisnorbo for deliberate handball, a fifth caution which would rule him out of Saturday's trip to Norwich. I didn't think that yellows could be rescinded?
mat_j101 Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 I like Mattock, so im glad we turned it down. I think he is a decent young lad with a very bright future. I preferred Sheehan for most of the season, but the last few times ive seen Mattock, i probably prefer him now.

If you ask me he got booked for arguing with the decision rather than the handball.
mat_j101 Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 If you ask me he got booked for arguing with the decision rather than the handball. I thought that too. I dont think the ref was going to book him until he argued.
Dames Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Wonder where the 'He's useless sell him' Brigade are. I'm glad they've turned it down we need to hang onto players like Mattock to have a chance of going anywhere in the future.
stevec Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 If you ask me he got booked for arguing with the decision rather than the handball. Yes I think that was the case - I could see why he was p*ssed off though when the ball clearly hit him in the back and the linesman (who was useless for both teams) reacted to the cov supporters

I'm here He gave a better/more confident performance against coventry - previous to that I wondered why people raved about him. For me thats now 2 games this season he has looked on par with his colleagues. I'm still unsure - one pace - inconsistant (but hes young). But what do I know - ive never coached footballers - so very little.
Blue Bob Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 If you ask me he got booked for arguing with the decision rather than the handball. I thought that too, from where I was sitting it looked like there might have been a few swear words in the argument .... like telling the ref to **** off!!!! Therefore chances of it being drop are nil!!
MikeyT Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Keep hold of him. He will only get better with time. No point in selling our best players if we are serious about heading up the table!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Looks like my thread was pretty relevant after all, eh Mr Whoever-it-was-that-slagged-it-off-at-the-time?
Phlashman Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Unless the offer is huge I don't expect him to go especially given Oliie's comments about racking and stacking the best young english players over the last few weeks.... Unless he can use it to get one of the big four to open up their racks of talent to us.
Monk Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Looks like my thread was pretty relevant after all, eh Mr Whoever-it-was-that-slagged-it-off-at-the-time? OK.... I'll hold my hand up on that one,...
Phlashman Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 I like that a lot. Thanks, I'm glad someone noticed it! I was toying with Oakley Bacon too.
sdb Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 wouldn't be suprised if it was arsenal. wenger's trying to buy lots of young english players now. glad we rejected
Babylon Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Thanks, I'm glad someone noticed it! I was toying with Oakley Bacon too. How about "Prawn Cock" for Alan Maybury.
loverofinsanefox Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Just from what I've read and heard about (and no not from football-rumours.com!), I think the bid may be from West Ham.
Leonisco Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 How about "Prawn Cock" for Alan Maybury.
