BlabyFox Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Hendo hasn't conceded a goal all season and saved penalties last night so why isn't he playing? Martin imo isn't as good especially when it comes to coming and collecting from crosses although he has pulled off a few good reaction saves.. Lets have a vote! THE OTHER VOTE DOESN'T MEAN WHO YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE SIGNED FOR THE GOALKEEPER POSITION
Unit Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Both are good enough for this league IMO. Hendo has an amazing record with penalties though, I think at the end of last season he saved 2 out of the last 3? So out of his last 6 penalties he's only conceeded two... that's impressive.
JoeyB Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Where does Peter Shilton & Gordon Banks fit into this?
iancognito Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Another keeper debate. Another answer from me saying Hendo, cos he's never made any serious mistakes, is a great shot stopper and penalty king. How many more managers can keep him as reserve keeper?
Ibbyfox Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Henderson is solid if not spectacular - Martin has been shown to be more vunerable!! No contest IMO.
DB11 Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 22 for Hendo and none for Martin. Does not tell Mr. Pearson something?
GLC Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 hendo, martin isnt good enough, i dont think he will be at liverpool long
JakeShingler Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Who was the one person who Voted Martin and what is your reason?
misiuj Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 22 for Hendo and none for Martin. Does not tell Mr. Pearson something? The main problem is that for the past 3 seasons post Ian Walker the club have been doing band aid jobs with their keepers. They have signed keepers of an ok standard, but not outright #1's - Excluding Fulop. The right Idea would be to sign a top quality keeper, such as Fulop, and put a talented young keeper in behind him. Your quality keepers dont miss too many games, and it also gives the younger keeper, ie - Cisak an avenue to first team football. leicester have shot themselves in the foot by pissing about with there abouts type keepers. as for now, get rid of martin, and promote Cisak to the bench. forget logan, he's washed up.
Kilworthfox Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 I dislike Henderson! however martin does not fill me with confidence at all. Henderson is not up to the job, he has proved that on many occassion (not all will agree I am sure) however he is the best we have for the time being.
syston_fox Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Henderson is not up to the job, he has proved that on many occassion (not all will agree I am sure) however he is the best we have for the time being. Sheffield United away was the only time I can recall him having a bit of a mare and before that it was the first couple of games in the calendar year. One poor game in 9 months is pretty solid in my opinion!
Thracian Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Martin has only been picked - by Pearson and by people on here - because he's new to the toybox just like Nielson last season and not because he has ever earned his place. Had Pearson bought in someone like Fulop I'd have had some sympathy but I've seen no evidence at all that Martin is better than Henderson who, despite Pearson's published view of him, has rarely let the team down in all the time he's been here. Okay, Henderson's never going to be a Shilton, Banks or even a Fulop but neither is Martin and I see no reason why Henderson should play second fiddle to the loanee.
chrisfox Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 I agree 100% it should be Hendo starting for us.... however.... It's unlikely Mr Benitez would have let Martin come to us for a season and warm the bench, so it wouldn't surprise me to find that somewhere in the deal was the previso that Martin plays a certain number of games throughout the season It could be that this is total rubbish and I'm thinking about it a bit too much, but it kind of makes sense to me...! ... sort of!
Corky Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Well between them they've let in 6 goals in 10 matches, so they are doing something right. I would go with Martin, but Henderson would be a very able replacement. I still think we made a mistake in letting Kevin Poole go.
The People's Hero Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Why oh why oh why have we never adequately replaced Gavin Ward, me Lord? (Yes, this is addressed to the Lord God above us).
Corky Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Why oh why oh why have we never adequately replaced Gavin Ward, me Lord? (Yes, this is addressed to the Lord God above us). We tried with Kalac, but it didn't work.
Father Ted Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Oh FFS not another which keeper poll. I think it's needed, I need to express my hate for Martin!

I still think we made a mistake in letting Kevin Poole go. Between them? Hendo hasn't conceded yet. Think you'll find Martin has let 6 goals in Hendo looks more confident and communicates with the defence. And can kick accurately.
