West Ham United 4-1 Leicester City - Post Match Thread
TWUKO replied to Ian Nacho's topic in Leicester City Forum
For me this game was an experiment to see if we've progressed. Last season I think west ham were the only team to do the double over us, scoring 3 each time, in the home game I don't think we even had a shot on target in 90 mins. But both games we just knocked it around and they just pounced on mistakes and it was one goal after another. They don't play particularly attractive football but it works. For the 3rd time in a row we failed, we haven't learned, forget the sending off, we were creating very little, they pressed very well as soon as we came forward, but when they did they had about 50 clear yards to run into, we invited crosses into the box and there was no intent to stop them playing or creating. The team selection was possibly the best option but as others have said we are too lightweight, we just seem to think that as long as we have lots of possession that's the main goal, but we didn't create anything. All in all it was a totally inept performance, think they were rattled by the fans too, for supposedly how good we are we were all over the place! We've said it before when we're good were amazing but when we're bad we are unbelievable shocking. I don't know what's worse, losing 4 games in a row 1-0 under puel or occasionally getting thumped by some average team, that was just embarrassing, we finished 5th last season and hold 2 of the domestic trophies, makes you wonder how, at least go down with a fight! So for me we failed the experiment and have not progressed since last season. We need to start looking at the opposition were facing and what they do best, because just playing your own game and having 60%+ possession will not win you games!!! -
Stadium Expansion update August 2021 - Public Consultation Closed
TWUKO replied to Beechey's topic in Leicester City Forum
Looks like the external cladding/skin has changed design since last year's leaks, they now show running level with the West stand, much better in my opinion. I keep looking at that CGI video and just being blown away. I remember when I was in my early teens watching the steelwork going up for the walkers and being blown away by the scale and excited to sit it in, but this thing is off the scale. That east stand will be one of the best looking in the country and I think that big bubble look will become iconic and its very 21st century! -
So this is basically the same as the leaked design from a year ago. The only difference I can see is the bridges from the hotel to the arena to the stadium. Some of the buildings are a bit oddly placed but that east stand is phenomenal, hope it lights up at night! Quite surprised to see that the changing rooms etc are not moving, which makes me think the West stand will also be done in a matching design in the future. The new wrap around brings the exterior of the North and south stands lever with the new easy and west stand, so potentially room for some small upper tiers there too! Fantastic project though and look forward to seeing the detailed plans.

LCFC 1-0 Man City - COMMUNITY SHIELD WINNERS!
TWUKO replied to StanSP's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'm really pleased with how our fans and players celebrated the win, too many times I watch big clubs with the community shield and they really don't care. They don't particularly care about winning the FA or league Cup and the shield is like a free happy meal toy. I'm so proud of our players and how much winning things for this club means to them. For me I'm glad we we finally won it the proper way at Wembley and its another trophy I've seen our club win in my lifetime. History is better when you've lived it! -
Really shocking this, Ian Wright has been nothing but supportive of our club over the last few years and yet he receives abuse from our fans. To hear him talk like that makes me disgusted that these people are associated with our club. I witnessed some bits the other night against villareal, booing taking the knee and when they started moaning and rolling around, large sections start singing dirty Spanish etc. Back in the day it might have seemed a bit funny but now it's not really acceptable, people can't help what colour they are or where they come from. All these people doing it just seemed to a bunch of young white pub going chavs that look as thick as! Unfortunately I think that is where the problem lies and also they take their abuse online too, they just think everything is a laugh and because there's a lot of them in a group or they sit behind a keyboard and they can get away with it. Shocking.

Site layout doesn't look like it includes the e on building either.

Some interesting points, 15 storey hotel, 20 storey resential, with 234 flats. Another 2 storey venue, nearly 8000m2 (indoor arena?), 2 storey Riverside pavilion and a 6 storey multi storey car park with 525 spaces! It also says multi purpose venue with 6000 standing capacity.

The badge is the least of his worries, I'm sure when his lad said he wants a city shirt he meant Leicester! Also do cov actually have a club shop, unless they share with wasps
-
It would seem that the redevelopment of the East stand will see it become the main stand and as rumoured previously it will contain all the changing rooms, corporate facilities etc. I would imagine we will see the number of corporate boxes increase significantly, which will generate a lot more income. If this adds 8k in seats then in the future it may be possible to add another 8k to the west and maybe 4k each to the north and south, so potentially in the distant future the KP could have a capacity of 56k? Hopefully they will put this infrastructure into the new design so this can be achieved with less cost and disruption in the future. Really looking forward to seeing the detailed plans. For some reason I love going through planning drawings for new developments.
-
About bloody time! It's obviously more that just a stadium expansion, its a major development but I'm starting to think even 40k won't stretch that far. Really hope they leave it open for even further development to stands in the future. Fantastic news though and another massive step forward for our fanststic club!
-
Mercury has an article today about the putney Road / Aylestone Road link along with a super crossing that is starting work today, to which the city Councillor for transport says will improve links for the University and proposed football stadium expansion! I put two and two together and assumed he means the KP. Good to know that the city Council transport department are well aware of the plans though.

Think Jonathan Morgan should give up his role as leader of Charnwood Borough Council. LCFC Women are full time professional now, that should be his sole focus as manager!
-
Anyone else see that Livepool have announced their plans to build a new stand at the Anfield Road end taking capacity from 53k to 61k And Leeds after 1 season back without fans are planning on increasing from 39k to 55k! Really hope we hear something soon, we're in a much stronger position than Leeds and I know we shouldn't rush it and make sure we have the funding and sustainable growth etc but we've been filling the KP for 6/7 years now, minus last season. We really should be looking at 50k+ we are surely a big enough entity now. These announcements also have the backing from their respective city councils, I really hope ours aren't stopping this progressing, it's in their best interests to get more people into the city! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-57473793 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57490984

Remember that game thought long and hard about maybe voting fosse but then decided I couldn't do it, was glad to see when it was a land slide. I think we won 4-0 and dickov scored 2 penalties? Wimbledon literally almost had 1 man and his dog in attendance, they looked really glum. I remember that entire season their supporters club asked fans to boycott all their games in protest of the move to MK, they had already moved but that was the last season they were called Wimbledon, think their record home attendance was 400 or something. A shocking situation really. Glad they've managed to find their way back a bit!

I would say our main local rivalries are forest, Derby and cov. Since we came back to the PL we've left them for dead, think we've only played Derby once in the cup since then, they're all absolute jokes of a football club to be honest, going nowhere fast. Most sack a manager every season, flirt with relagation, financial and ownership issues, stadium issues. I sometimes wonder if there's anyone left to support cov? Perhaps they support us now. I do worry we'll have a younger generation that won't understand these rivalries. Have been to away games at all their grounds, found cov and forest quite threatening, Derby not so much, always seemed to get something there too. Hope they all end up in league one to be honest, always look out for their losses! Villa are the further a field local rival for me, they probably see us as that too, even when they were good they didn't really have any major West Midlands rivals in the PL era. Birmingham for a bit maybe, west brom and wolves keep coming and going. Non local rivals for me were Leeds, very hostile environment, there travelling fans are unbearable too. Absolutely vile fans, can see them getting under a few fans skin next season now they're allowed back in. I think they still think it's 1992 and they're challenging for the title. Pundits seem to think so anyway, they'll expect them to be pushing for the champions league next season! Really hope they suffer second season syndrome!

My main concern is that I'm looking at the table and thinking are we really only 1 point better than West ham? In all honesty the injuries have caught up with us, we've been quite poor for a couple of months, couldn't beat 10 man Southampton, went 4-0 down to Newcastle before starting to play, lost the 6 pointer to Chelsea, lost today, we've had so many opportunities to get this over the line. At the start of the season I thought we'd finish about 8th with the injuries we had, was very surprised with the quality start we had. Recently though we just look done in. Away form has been excellent for the most part, home form has been something you'd expect from a team fighting relagation, quite shocking, think we've lost 9 out of 19, that's really poor. We all would have taken 5th before the season, its still crazy to think we're all slightly disappointed with a 5th place finish, the manner how we've finished there is a concern, but in reality 4 place is pointless with having to qualify and seeding etc, the only benefit is the money. I don't think there's much between the likes of us, Chelsea, spurs and arsenal nowadays which is ridiculous when you think about it. Taking the FA cup out of it there's been an improvement on last season although finished in a very disappointing way again, not as bad though. I just thank the footballing gods that the one game they managed to see through despite all the odds was the one that resulted in our first FA cup and for that I am immensely proud. Nobody should underestimate what an achievement that is. Even in the modern era of football the domestic trophies are still won by the big boys and for us to win our holy grail in these times is just wonderful. For next season we definitely need quality additions to the squad to challenge again, would like it if we had a go at the europa league, we could possibly win that one, this seasons europa was bit pointless in all honesty. Onwards and hopefully upwards, not too bothered about the champions league but it's nice to be there or there abouts. An incredibly progressive season overall!
-
I like that you can have a silver FA cup badge on the sleeve, with a 1 in the corner, didn't even realise they did this for the holders. Noticed a few clubs with the number of times they've won it on their badges. There's also a women's super league option, good that they're being more inclusive.
-
Quite nice, nice pattern, shame about King power as everyone has come to see them go hand in hand with Leicester, but we'll get used to it and it'll be a lot more money for the club. At least its not Chinese betting!
-
Yeah I looked into this a few months ago as I though this was kind of a thing that I remembered. But yes apparently it was something started back in the day as a tradition but not actually anything official.
-
They should really snap that up, would mean thay have all the land from Aylestone Road to the river, huge development potential for the club! Wouldn't even cost that much in football terms. Noticed Citroën have cleared out opposite the North stand too, perhaps they should get that too and use it for a new club shop
-
100% agree, this season maddison has added goals and assists despite injuries limiting his game time, same for Barnes who had really stepped up his game, nacho has worked hard and found out how to score. Perez is just becoming pointless, the new demari gray!
-
Good point, 2 league goals, both against awful relegated Sheffield United, 1 in the cup against a championship side. So really in 35 games his contribution has been 1 assist, would love to know who that was against, probably a nothing assist to! Doesn't warrant a place in the starting 11 next season!
-
Its disappointing to throw it away again for another season, I know it's not over yet but these idiots are obsessed with the champions league that much that they won't throw it away now. Fully expect Burnley and villa to get absolutely battered! Seeing Liverpool on Sunday and Chelsea today, you'd think that they'd just won a cup final, absolutely pathetic, bloody sky obsessed with it too, it really is just laughable. They should actually start giving out little trophies for finishing top 4. If it does happen it wasn't lost here, our home form has been nothing but average, that's cost us. Also we have looked very tired and passive for a numbers of weeks. I think the only games we've dominated recently were against 2 teams that were relegated, says it all really. Positives, European campaigns for 2 successive seasons for the first time in our history I believe and our holy grail the FA cup for the first time in our 137 year history, and I was proud to witness that! Let these muppets have it, we're a real club with real passionate fans, and value our success with all our hearts, not some glory hunting plastics!!!
-
Unfortunately it feels like it's only a matter of time for them. Maddison and perez have largely been ineffective, when we get the ball we slow it down quite quickly, possibly a tactic but you need to create some sort decent movement, every time they go forward they look like scoring. Oh well at least Graham souness will be able to wax lyrical about how brilliant Chelsea are after full time and how poor we are!
-
It would be disappointing if we didn't qualify having been in the top 4 all season, and the only team to do so, however it really isn't be all and end all. We'd probably end up bottom of our group or 3rd and into Europa anyway. Never gonna win it, bit could very much win the Europa! The way I watched Liverpool celebrate beating west brom made me pity them a bit, its all these teams are obsessed with, playing in that bloody thing every year. I think they'd be less bothered about winning the FA cup. Whatever happens happens but regardless this team has had an incredible season!
