I really like the lad but since the January window he's played 503 minutes for us. Turning down such a massive amount of money for a squad player is a key reason as to why we're in the shit. People blame our recruitment for our demise but IMO the key reason has been that we've just forgotten how to sell players. We were once the kings at getting good money for our players but it's just completely stopped. I would argue that the last time we sold a player for more than he's probably worth was Chilwell over 5 years ago.

I would but also, I wouldn't. Palace fans will have to accept they can't just guarantee another Eze and that they'll have to nurture a new one. Bilal has every bit of talent needed to be as successful as Eze. He's had an alright season without getting the numbers in the Premier League but if he had a full season in the EFL i'm sure he'd shag this league rotten. A bit like KDH. Something like 2 goals, 1 assist in the season we went down then became the main man and showed what he can do at this level. So yeah, while he looks underwhelming at the moment I can't help but feel like any club getting him for less than £25m will consider it a bargain in a year or two's time.

Extremely frightening that Mavididi ended up with the armband last night. I've said it before but you could tell we were building a good squad in 2017-2019 because we were signing captains. Pretty much everyone in that squad that went 5th back to back was captain material. Right now there are such few players that could realistically lead this squad. We need to get back to that mentality of signing leaders (and not fake talkers like Coady). It's one of the reasons I would like us to get Josh Brownhill.

Nobody is going to pay the money we'd want and I don't think he'd be the type to force a move just yet. I would be willing to bet my house that he'll stay for this season.

One year in the Premier League where you get 10 goals, 5 assists and you're gonna get a contract off someone for £150k a week. One year in the Championship where you get 20 goals and 10 assists and you're gonna get a contract off someone for £60k a week. The Premier League is simply where the money is and where the eyes are looking. Bilal, like any ambitious footballer, will fancy his chances of being a regular for an elite level club. He's not going to catch their attention in the Championship.
