All jokes aside, a Technical Director doesn't usually do what anyone celebrating in here thinks they do. Obviously this is a bit vague for two reasons. Firstly, every club uses the terms Sporting Director, Technical Director and Director of Football somewhat differently and in some cases interchangeably. Whilst they aren't supposed to be direct synonyms it does sometimes transpire that way. Secondly, we take that a step further again and have employed someone as "Director of Football" for a decade now who largely just appears to have delegated everything to the manager of the club as if it's still 1995 anyway. But usually the Technical Director is more of a conduit between senior and junior teams, someone who keeps continuity in a playing philosophy across the club and someone who provably has more influence in recruiting staff like coaches across the club as opposed to players. It's not normally the case that someone with the title Technical Director is leading on player recruitment, is building the squad, managing contacts, etc. It honestly wouldn't surprise me massively if this doesn't lead to significant on field change.

Is it normal for a professional sports team to do sponsorship and advertising....?

The January Transfer Window …..Dos the major surgery start?
Finnegan replied to Sly's topic in Leicester City Forum
It's extremely rare we do January business at the best of times and we still haven't had the outcome of a potential points deduction over financial irregularities. We're not doing anything in January. -
This seems tone deaf, even if there were chants that were genuinely gross (and I wasn't there, so I don't know if there were.)

BDCR was not good enough for the Prem. But he's perfectly good enough to be a feature in the team in this league. He's better than Ayew and Soumaré, he's more confident than Mavididi. Without Ramsey I'd have him at 10 in our strongest lineup probably. JJ is fantastic but he needs to be one of the deeper midfielders with the freedom to go box to box. He isn't a 10. -
In fairness, he's consistent.

I've always enjoyed journalists being on the panel, right back to classic Revista de La Liga. I know Belague annoys everyone but Graham Hunter was an absolute font of knowledge. I like to see a bit of a mix. The journos absolutely know the game, they're students of it, they've got a lot of knowledge but it is still good to have the perspective of insiders that have actually played in it and have relevant experience as well. But I just want them chosen because they're bright, articulate and preferably younger with more recent experiences. Stop picking people because they were more famous as players.

In fact, here he is on a podcast actually titled pundits don't understand football In particular, fast forward to about 20/22 minutes if you're interested. Actually think you'd enjoy the whole thing @Stadt but that part is relevant.

Have a YouTube browse. Extremely well spoken and intelligent guy with a good understanding of football from both a human, emotional level and a tactical one. Does get the odd TV appearance but never much consistent.

Meanwhile, Nedum Onuoha can barely break out of the podcast scene.

Are the BBC just continuously posting Rooney's opinions as rage bait? Why is there a new column quoting his views every day? He was a thick footballer, he was a thick manager, lo and behold he's a thick pundit. Man makes Michael Owen look like a genius. Stop this, Beeb.

By the time he ever plays for us again, he'll be the Australian Van Dijk. It's going to kill people to discover he's worse than Faes and Okoli.
