Think you'll find Susan and Top only take their advice on what Lineker says on MOTD so he is completely complicit in our downfall, mismanagement and everything else that's followed...

Anyone with X, Bluesky could you just pop a quick clarification post to pundit Lucy Ward, whose ears are as blocked as the Forest fans. She made a point on the Guardian Football Weekly podcast that we chanted "champions of England, you'll never sing that" in a mocking tone. Deary me.

God forbid a footballer makes an individual choice. He owes that club and those fans nothing. He's repaid the investment in him time and time again with good performances and trophies. If he was performing badly both the club and fans would turn their back on him instantly. So frankly football fans can swivel if they think a player owes them something. It's not even like he's downed tools. And what about Liverpool's role in this? The club that had the chance to get some money in January and turned it down? Is that TAA's fault too? Liverpool fans are stunning hypocrites, but that's nothing new.

Maybe predictable was the wrong word. I guess I mean to say what I constitute as true jeopardy (title/relegation) has been long coming this season. Liverpool streaked clear and it became obvious around Xmas that the relegated teams would go down. Of course there's interest elsewhere (and as a child of the 90s/00s Man Utd being shit is never not fun) but if I'm going purely on those, it's hardly been a back-and-forth tussle.

Feel like I'm one of the few that is actually glad the UEL final is Man Utd v Spurs. This season has been bloody miserable for us, the Premier League has been tedious and predictable, and my simple brain really only likes matches with real jeopardy these days. Both teams have had pathetic 24/25 and their entire season rests on this match. It's the only way they can be saved from the ignominy of a lower bottom half finish and no trophy and no Europe with the expectations they have on them. It all rests on this 90 (120 + pens) minutes and frankly I'm really looking forward to it.

Both my grandads fought in WWII, were based in the middle east and Burma rather than mainland Europe. I was too young when they died (they both had my parents really old (47 & 37)) but my mum always said they never ever spoke about it unless they were together and only then would they share stories/memories. She said once one of them spoke a ship of people being sent back to somewhere and he was certain they would be killed on their end destination. My great grandad fought in WWI but not sure where, I should research.

Story old as time isn't it, this game. Team piles the pressure on, misses a couple of good chances, game settles down and opposition get the goal.

Tin foil hat nonsense. As long as they're under a certain height they can do what they want. And be thankful for it. Nimby nonsense. Everyone so quick to criticise the infrastructure of this country, but no one actually wants it near them. I wonder what people felt about telegraph poles and electrical pylons back in the day.

Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
Footballwipe replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Based on how quickly we rewarded Brendan for a few wins in a row, this fraud will get a five year, multi million pounds extension too. -
Protest vote or not, this debate is a clear show that the whole election vote is built on sand. This election was on how the local council will run subsidised buses, SEND services, potholes, rights of way, adult social care, foster care, waste sites amongst so many other things. All you lot are talking about is fvcking immigration and stopping the boats. Local services suffer at the incompetence of the electorate desperate to sock it to parliament at the detriment of the functions that so many people need, yet so many people don't seem to care about.

Unfortunately people take the piss (literally) and can be pretty vile in toilets, leaving a trail of destruction behind. It's why councils refuse to keep spending endless amounts of money repairing them before they're destroyed again. Why should businesses make their toilets open for all and sundry, exposing them to an even greater risk of them being trashed, the need to maintain them and, as a result, actual paying customers potentially being put off from using the establishment cos the public can't be trusted. Of course paying customers might be as bad as the main wandering in off the street, and tbh I'd be in support of it being allowed if government or local authorities gave incentives to companies that keep them open, so the increased maintenance costs are absorbed. Until then let private businesses operate as they wish.

Moved away from X a few months ago to Reddit. Only stumbled on the LCFC subreddit a couple of times as I'm not really interested in engaging in football debate on that platform generally. Oh boy, it really does seem like a KPFC, owner apologist, happy clappy set of people? Any dissenting voices get downvoted don't they? Insane.

have you got anything constructive to say in this thread? Seems as though you're assuming right wing things and then getting your politicians mixed up to fit your narrative.

What’s the plan for the next five games

Help to confirm Forest's place in the UCL next season on the receiving end of a 5-0 drubbing? -
And there it is. Exactly why certain types love today. Any chance to crowbar their culture war nonsense into a day. Happy spending the day complaining every aspect of today will offend everyone St. George's Day.

Championship 2024/2025 Season Thread
Footballwipe replied to Happy Fox's topic in General Football and Sport
They're shit and performative in this day and age. The minority of people go on for the sheer, pure joy. Most people go on for one of the following reasons: To go and goad the away fans To go and goad the opposition players To get a selfie with the players To get a selfie with your mates for the engagement To get on TV Because it's the only acceptable time you can and get away with it Because it's fashionable Ironically the most authentic invasion I can remember is the Watford one against us in 2013. Not even the final whistle, the celebrations to that goal. A true spontaneous outpouring of joy. Not a load of people shuffling down to the side of the pitch with 5 minutes to go. You're dead right, too, about what to do when you're on the pitch. When they're not accosting the players, opposition, away fans or TV cameras, there's just a lot of... standing around on the pitch. -
Wolves (a) Pre - Match - Sat 26 April @ 3.00pm
Footballwipe replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
Amazing how far we've fallen as a fanbase Would rather £3m than give the younger players some experience. You can't put a price on home grown talent, except you can. One place for prize money. People on here spout about how money has ruined the game, it's also ruined our fans brains and priorities. -
You'd all be calling it a conspiracy in the main forum if that incident was against us and wasn't given. Behave yourselves.
-
Tbh I'd rather face Arsenal fans and have them win this tie. 2014, 16, 17, 18, 22, 24 is quite enough Real Madrid success for my liking.

Before we just go balls deep on criticising the Premier League for the PSR loophole closure, can we just all be abundantly clear that this is not just the "Premier League" This change was VOTED and RATIFIED by Premier League clubs. The clubs dictate, the Premier League enact. It is not a cosy group of 10 men telling 20 clubs what to do, it's the majority of the Premier League clubs' execs telling the suits what to do. Pin the blame on the club execs who passed this, not the suits. If you're angry about this change then direct your ire in the right direction and don't let the clubs get off without blame.

Yeah I guess calling it not a very good podcast is an appropriate way of summing it up. Always smacked to me of Chris not wanting to give up QK but the other two did, so he's started this and it just doesn't work. The thing that made QK such a success, aside from the guests and correspondence, was the three's clear passion for that decade of football. It's simply not replicated in this one and it's a damn shame cos it had so much potential.

Marching into the club shop the day after De Vries signed, convinced he was the second coming, and getting him and his number on the back of the (very lovely) home shirt. Got Nails on the back of the black sash away shirt, too. All the while being convinced that Craig Levein was an inspired managerial choice. The future was so, so bright.

It's a completely different level and so many variables, but it's really nice to see PSG transform themselves from overpaying for ego-fuelled stars to a stable, functional, entertaining team which seems to have solid foundations to continue its progression even further than what they've achieved.

Season Ticket Renewal Deadline Shut
Footballwipe replied to The Year Of The Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
I have renewed, but I'm teetering on the brink. Still can't come to terms with not being able to go as I choose and not being able to do away games. I also know myself and I wouldn't bring myself to pay the astronomical matchday prices if I didn't have one but changed my mind. Believe me though, I'm getting there. There have been several occasions this season where I've not done a home or away game and either watched in the house with a few beers, or had lunch with the other half somewhere and got back home to watch the match by "alternative means." I've found that to be far more enjoyable than dragging myself to watch the shower. Full respect to those who have given it up. Complete admiration from me. -
The fact they've both got manslaughter, not murder, suggests they'll get under a decade behind bars. The girl got CONDITIONAL BAIL before sentencing, I read. I don't want to get all internet "judicial system is a farce" but what the actual hell is that about??
