Spain vs Georgia - Sunday 30th June, 8pm
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot replied to StanSP's topic in General Football and Sport
Spain just gone 8/15 for this with the bookies, 150 to return 230. -
That’s the thing with max he's probably the fastest of the lot (definitely one of, without doubt) but when it comes to wheel to wheel racing he is so super aggressive 100% of the time the options are the other driver completely backs out or gets crashed in to, that’s not the make up of a top quality racing driver to me. You need to be firm and race hard but max has repeatedly shown he’s incapable of doing so.

What price you give me we sell KDH, maybe one other, all after getting compo for the manager and STILL fall foul of psr? I’d make it an odds on shot.

Music got on my nerves toward the end. Enjoyed it overall, though.

Kevin pressman wasn’t up to much either when we had him. Still remember being at the game and not noticing that goal ever went in until much, much later (you all know which goal).

After the first 7 or 8 games being absolute belters the general quality in the tournament has gone to the absolute dogs. A lot of that is down to the format which absolutely encourages negative football as so many teams progress. Only 1 or 2 teams have actually looked good, Austria and Spain the only 2 that spring to mind. England, France, Belgium, Italy and a few more of the fancied nations have to massively improve.

Corner to corner or gtfo. -
Willing to give him a chance. Problem is with the forest connection if he doesn’t hit the ground running things will get very toxic very fast. Fingers crossed a few wins in the first month to ease any tension. Yeah he’s an underwhelming appointment but who could we realistically get given our abysmal position financially and with the points deduction? Gotta just go with it.

Refereeing / VAR at the Euros
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot replied to DennisNedry's topic in General Football and Sport
Barely noticed the refs except when they’ve accidentally got in the way and touched the ball. Miles above premier league refereeing and so far VAR has been used well. The offsides the biggest improvement. Sort of love seeing teams celebrate wildly just to have the check chalk it off, like in the game last night Jota going mad to get the ball off the keeper even though they’ve just scored a winner to go 2-1 up, just to do that stupid ‘I’ve just had a baby’ celebration. Tough luck, chap. Sort of ruined by the fact they got a proper goal a few minutes later but still, enjoyed him looking a right tit. -
So last night I was reading potter was a done deal, now the posts I’m reading are saying it’s cooper? What’s happened over night?

Get what you’re saying to a certain extent but ‘West Brom fans love corberan’ is a bit of a stretch for me (not saying they don’t love him). He’s done well for them but he’s not really done anything, he took over as a manager aiming for the playoffs and he’s done basically exactly what is expected of him, but he royally buggered the playoffs and was totally outclassed by an average side. I just don’t get it. You could name any manager with top flight experience as a stick to beat with but the fact is this bloke doesn’t have top flight experience and a manager who does (I could just as easily and daftly counter the Bruce argument with a Wenger or Pep argument), and certainly one who’s been successful enough to warrant a shot at the poisoned chalice that is Chelsea, will be better suited to us than someone who has taken a team who should have been aiming for the top 6 get them to the top 6 then fall flat on his face. I just think Potter has something to prove and is better tactically and has better experience.

Potter always been my number one choice, just thought with our finances being the shambles they are and the incoming points deduction he’d never touch us. Don’t get the love for the West Brom bloke he was absolutely found out in the play offs and has no experience at the top level. Yeah potter isn’t perfect but who could we get that’s better? I still won’t believe it until it’s confirmed.

Group D: Poland, Netherlands, Austria, France
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot replied to Mark's topic in General Football and Sport
Not sure if Austria look good or France look average, think more Austria. Their press has been brilliant, very unlucky to be behind in this one. Feel France have a lot more gears to go up. -
Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot replied to Mark's topic in General Football and Sport
We need to improve massively and quickly. Basically saying come on then try and score while we put 10/11 men behind the ball for an hour against Serbia is just not the mentality that is going to win you a tournament. All goes back to extra time against Italy for me , they were absolutely knackered and the game was there for the taking but Southgate was too scared to try and win the game in case we lost it. You can’t score after 10 minutes and sit back against the best teams in Europe, i mean you can and it might work sometimes but you won’t win a tournament doing that. We just got away with it against Serbia, but won’t against better teams, why I can’t stand Southgate he’s so negative. -
Group E: Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine

Didn’t realise Danny Ward had switched allegiance to Ukraine. -
The super boost today is England even money, gotta be worth the little bit they let you do, good value win or lose.
