  1. +22 GD speaks for itself, Coventry are a good team, much as it is painful to say. Indeed, it show how good our defence is that we drew nil-nil.
  2. An assist more than anyone else managed! And BCR had a good game. Put Ricardo on for Hamza and that is our best starting line up, grim as it maybe. We haven't got a lot of options in the squad. Marti is fine as a manager, the best we have had since Enzo left in terms of results, and Maresca-ball was like watching paint dry. I dont think that we will be promoted this season, but I never expected to be after our summer. The Championship is a tough league where nearly every team can get a result. We are 5th, and unbeaten in 6. It's not great, but the sky hasn't fallen in.
  3. Both wingers have been very tightly marked in recent games, with no real central threat, so safe for them to do so.
  4. Yep, did he touch the ball? Rightly behind Daka...
  5. We have been a Championship team for some time. That's why we had such a rotten season last year. The team and back office both need a major rebuild before we get back to the Premiership. We have some distance to go, and aren't going to attract the right sort of player until the points deduction etc is sorted. I am enjoying the games being more even, no VAR, and seeing some of the youngsters come through. I don't anticipate promotion for a few years, so am just enjoying it. I like Marti's style of football, though some work needed on the finishing.
  6. Yes, watching Carranza tonight shows why Ayew gets the start. Some of the subs were puzzling. Just some minutes for VK and Daka? Soumare and Mavididi did well tonight, deserve the start. We won't score much shooting from outside the box.
  7. Shooting from way too far out.
  8. It's OK for a tough away match, though think there will be some rotation for Tuesday.
  9. I think Luke had a good game today, against a decent winger. He also got a few decent balls into the box. The forwards wasted them of course, but he did his bit. He gets forward in some games on the overlap so is capable of it. That he didn't do so today probably say more about following instructions than ability. He is easily good enough at this level, and the team is better with him in it.
  10. I remember when we had a match abandoned at half time against Forest, and were 1 nil down, when it was replayed their goalie was allowed to score a goal immediately after kick off. It was an odd bit of sportsmanship, or am I imagining it 🤔
  11. I agree. Finishing was poor and having Ayew as a 9 meant that they could concentrate on our wingers without worrying about our midfield. But loads of positives. Another home clean sheet against local rivals. We made both Coventry and Brum look toothless. Winks and Soumare had a good game. We need to be better going forward. We create chances, just dont put them away. It wasn't dull too.
  12. In part it was that Coventry subbed-off Dasilva, but also we subbed-off Ricardo. He was isolated when Chaudhuri took over and passed back rather than forward.
  13. I think Big Nige the most underrated of our recent managers. He rebuilt after Sven and all the lacklustre ones that came before. Sure his achievements seem modest with promotion and "The Great Escape", but he built the foundations for our greatest years. Seems a top bloke too.
  14. Could have been worse. We still have Fatawu and Monga, and we are on budget We have strength in depth in defence (i think we look better when we have gone 352 at the end of games). Sure it would have been good to have moved on a few others, but is does give us options. Let's see what Marti can get out of them. He might even be able to find a proper footballer in Soumare and Daka, and instill some respect in Faes and Winks.
  15. Yes, I am very happy that Marti is willing to make off field behaviour an issue for the players. Shape up or ship out. Someone else gets your spot.
  16. It's notable that when we went to 3 at the back with wingbacks, both Thomas and Ricardo got forward. Sure Brum were getting a bit ragged at the back by then, but it gave space for Monga to set up Riccy
  17. Something bad happening at City? Never seen it myself 🤥
  18. Another very good veggie place is the Anmol Sweet Centre. The best samosas in town, and the curries are great, particularly the chili paneer and masrandi dhal (?spelling) They have a takeaway at the Welford Rd, just up from Vicky park rd junction that closes at 1900, and a new shop in Oadby with takeaway and a few tables. It is next to Tipu Sultan and I think both better and half the price.
  19. I think Skipp and Soumare were both poor, and Okoli at fault for the goal, but everyone else did at least alright. Thomas was good going forward. MOTM was Ayew. Wednesday were unfit and their substitutes didn't help. A good first half from them, and they marked both Fatawu and Mavididi well. I like Cifuentes style of football. It's a bit open, but good going forward with quick turnovers. Far more entertaining than Cooper or Maresca.
  20. Certainly where I was in the East stand it was "Wooot" when he came on. It was the same after he scored too. Even our fans don't boo our goalscorers!
  21. Its only the lack of sponsor that makes me interested! I didn't buy the FBS and BC Game shirt for a number of reasons, but the dodgy sponsor was a big part. Being sponsor free is a plus to me, it adds a nice retro feel. I remember being sponsor free one credit crunch season too.
  22. I am beginning to look forward to it. I hope Wednesday don't forfeit. It sounds as if watching Martis team will at least be entertaining. https://lastwordonsports.com/football/2025/07/30/marti-cifuentes-tactics-leicester/
  23. He might be a bit busy with governing France, but good choice. He's always well turned out.
  24. We had Loros one season. A hospice is strangely appropriate for our present condition!
  25. Yep, we are shopping in the bargain basement. I've never heard of this guy until this thread, but doesn't sound awful. We could do worse and need to get someone in soon with a plan, season starts in a month's time.
