I think this is pretty common with teams outside of the big 6, from cities with demographics similar to ours. When a good chunk of the city’s immediate family links are from outside the country, let alone the city, there isn’t that nudge to grow up supporting LCFC, attending games. When your friends and families’ relationship with football is watching sky sports, supporting Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, or Man Utd, and playing FIFA instead of attending live football at their local team, it’s no surprise most never pick it up. Villa have a big fanbase, but their fanbase demographics are far from anything closely resembling what you see around most of Birmingham, and other west mids clubs accuse them of all coming from Walsall, Tamworth etc. I lived in Derby and rarely saw Derby County shirts around (see way more LCFC stuff around Leicester in fact), and the Derby fans I knew were mostly from the county. Forest, West Brom, Bradford etc I’d imagine is similar.

Of that lot Sarri is by far the most exciting option.

I have a feeling in a few weeks time we will be looking at a similar table to last year, with the teams who came up starting to be cut adrift. Will be worrying for the league if it happens twice in a row.

People often talk about the 29,000 not contributing, but we don’t even need that - just a functioning end and I’d be happy. Our vocal sections are so dispersed. There’s often 3 songs going on at once, all separated by sections of very little signing, so none get going properly and all 3 fizzle out. Germany is often praised for its atmosphere, but if you look around the stadium, they have fantastic home ends, and usually very little going on in the other stands (including things that would be looked down upon in England, like away fans sitting comfortably in the home stands, celebrating goals etc without bother).

Nah, the big thing for me is that the players, those who work with him day in day out, clearly aren’t fond of him. Compare the noises coming out of the camp this time last year with Maresca (players who wanted to leave being so impressed they U turned etc), with the numerous player unrest rumours this year already.

He’d be another Cooper. Lovely guy, speaks well, “gets it”, but dosen’t have the tactical nous or motivational skills to be a top level manager.

Noticed when Vardy went down on the weekend, Winks and Cooper appeared to be having a tactical discussion of some sorts, which ended with Winks throwing his arms around frustratedly. The signs aren’t great, and he clearly dosen’t have the rapport with, or respect of the squad that Enzo did.

Yep, and I don’t see Unai or the Villa board and recruitment making the same mistakes our lot did either.

It is a little strange/concerning that the players hang back from him when he applauds the fans after the game, and do it separately afterwards. I’m pretty sure with Maresca everyone would go over together.
