  1. Me and my mates got told off for "booing" by a woman in front of us when he came on. We were definitely saying "Woouuuutt" Fair play to him today, looked levels above the game when he came on.
  2. Started poor but I was impressed by Cifuentes' ability to swiftly recognise and fix the issues. Plenty of good performances but Fatawu, Ayew and Winks all particularly impressive!
  3. He's so tall his Achilles stretches up to his cruciate
  4. Did his cruciate last season while on loan at Sheffield United, out until the end of the calendar year. Apparently was excellent there, so could be that he heads back when fit. Or maybe he finally gets a chance here...
  5. Yeah, some of the reactions on social media are ridiculous. Also takes a bit of pressure off the next striker we sign. They won't be the "new Vardy", regardless what number they're given.
  6. I actually think this could be a good option. He's only 28 and has done well at this level before. We could do with a bit of dickhead-ery as well. Will be some tough fights in the Championship that our young boys could struggle in.
  7. Nah, love the man but we need to move on. Would have been like us resigning Emile Heskey instead of giving Vardy a chance back when he signed.
  8. Haha true, but when Cottee joined I was in primary school - whereas when Phillips joined I was a grown man! I think 32 felt a lot older in the 1990s. Players didn't go on as long, and Cottee had been farmed out to a Malaysian retirement league before joining us. Great player!
  9. Winks' baby was born 12 March, his last appearance for us was 16 March. The argument happened in the international break that started on 17 March - the week after Winks' baby was born. Anyway, that's the last I'll say on it, life is much too short. I like the guy and think he stood up for himself fairly, you don't. I'm sure you like some people and some actions I don't like. Who cares
  10. As I said people will see it differently, and that's fine. It literally happened the week his baby was born. In my circumstances, I wouldn't have been spending one overnight a week away from my newborn baby. I think it was one of many issues badly managed by a manager out of his depth. Anyway, clean slate for me - anyone who is still here is a Leicester player and I'll get behind them 100%.
  11. Fine for others to see things differently. My wife had post-natal depression and we have a friend who killed herself in post-natal psychosis. The early stages of a newborn are flipping hard work. It would have been fine for him to help at home then travel up on the morning of matches. Loads of players seem to do it with no issues. From my perspective, he put his baby and wife over a weird non-contracted ask from an employer to sleep at work the night before a shift. I can't imagine many unions not backing the employee in that situation. I'd say standing up for what's right over an arbitrary rule showed balls and maturity. I'd imagine most responsible dads / husbands would as well. I even think he did well not speaking out when he was marginalised for putting his family first.
  12. Ricardo should be captain, with Winks as vice. The 'Miss You Enzo' reaction was overblown, and the baby commuting issue could have been resolved privately with a better manager in charge. Nelson doesn’t need the extra pressure - he’ll still be learning and making mistakes on and off the pitch. Hopefully a future captain in a few years.
  13. I remember writing Vardy off in his first season with us. Then again in the Prem a couple of years later Can definitely see the appeal of Kone from what I've read. Agree we'd need to give him plenty of time and allow him to make mistakes while finding his feet. I suspect due to his age and lack of pre-season he'd start off as a sub.
  14. Looks like he’s staying. If there are no links, let’s close the topic and reopen it if real rumours emerge. I’ve disliked Faes since his debut (conceding 6 at Spurs), but if he’s staying he deserves a clean slate just like everyone else under the new regime. I’m sceptical - he’s struggled under multiple managers and defensive partners - but maybe Cifuentes is the man to turn it around. He’s got positives to his game, hopefully Marti helps cut out the negatives.
  15. Bagged a brace today... get me in the scouting team!
  16. I like the look of a young Scottish striker at Hibs called Kieron Bowie. 6'3, 22 year old battering ram who could be great physical foil for our tricky wingers and attacking midfielders. Just got his first cap with the national team. Gambling on potential with an unspectacular scoring record (6 goals in 18 games), but I've liked the little I've seen of him.
  17. Yeah, he played in the CONCACAF this summer. In other seasons this would be a sensible signing - could be a Tony Cottee, or at the very least a Kevin Phillips. But we have too many players past their peak already - unless we can move BDCR and Ayew on, I'd pass on this.
  18. 7/10. More than the start of last season!
  19. Mads Ricky Nelson Okoli Justin Winks Ndidi Fatawu BEK Mavididi Daka Putting in Nelson out of hope and Daka out of necessity
  20. Sorry mate, I didn't mean any offence I'm invested in this issue because my wife had post-natal depression and we have a friend whose wife killed herself with post-partum psychosis. While I don't know Winks' personal situation, my life experience is that early parenthood can be really difficult. This literally became an issue as soon as Winks became a dad. it was clearly mishandled - RVN banished a player who had been starting from the squad. Being a dad / husband comes first and commuting in the morning instead of travelling the day before feels a small trade-off, which plenty of footballers do. Regardless, I say what's been has been - let's give the lads still with the club a clean slate under a new manager
  21. Fair enough if you care but I'm really not bothered where they live tbh. Lots of players live far away and this was the first time we've had a fall out like this. I remember listening to a podcast where Kasper said a lot of our title winning team would travel down on match days from Manchester. If it is an issue, manage it in-house. Briefing publicly against a new dad's professionalism is not a way to deal with an internal matter.
  22. Wasn't it that he didn't have kids under Enzo or Cooper. After his wife had a baby, he stopped wanting to stay overnight so he could spend more time with his baby. I don't think it's an unreasonable request, and I think even if it was it could have been managed in a far more professional way by Ruud. Regardless, for me everyone gets a clean slate under the new manager. The past is the past, and Winks can be a very useful player in a Marti Cifuentes Leicester team.
  23. Signed for Norwich, close the thread!
  24. Bilal has potential, but Maddison and Barnes were much more likely to leave than him. They had 19 and 14 goal contributions in their relegation season, Bilal had 5. They were in their prime and could attract big moves - Bilal’s time may come, but for now he’d likely join another struggler. A strong season in the Championship would do more for his career than another year getting battered in the Prem.
  25. Not seen a huge amount of either, but Tommy Conway at Boro and Tyrese Campbell at Sheffield United both seem like decent and realistic options. Funny thing about Daka is that if we were signing somebody with his pre-Leicester stats, a lot of our fans would be creaming themselves about it. Just shows there is always a big element of uncertainty around any signing. Maybe he will improve once out of Vardy's shadow... but sadly I don't have too much hope.
