Who should be captain next season?
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to winteriscoming's topic in Leicester City Forum
Beat me to it. Let the lad actually break into the first team before asking him to lead it Obvious route is Ricardo Pereira with Harry Winks as vice. Wouldn't be against giving Mavididi a bit of extra responsibility as vice. -
This is what I always think as well. In truth none of us know what happens day-to-day inside a football club. Something is clearly wrong but I have no idea if it's structural, due to external constraints or due to a person's inadequacies.

Isn't the transfer window closed until July 16?

Less likely to be criticised -
I think O'Neil could be a good appointment. Brings through young players and has a better Prem record than many who have dominated the Champ.

It's all about balance. We absolutely need players who will improve, but they also benefit from having experienced players next to them. Any signing is a gamble but Adams and Brownhill feel like decent additions tbh.

Wout to Monaco (loan with ~€8m option, official)
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to CloudFox's topic in Transfer Talk
That argument falls flat when Faes has looked awful under 4x managers, 4x keepers and about 8x centre-back partners - and keeps flirting with moves away during every transfer window. But nobody bites, because they've seen him play. Ever since Faes joined we've had a shambolic defence, and he's been central to that. And his attitude stinks. I agree football criticism can be over the top and the whining on this forum/going to the ground can't half get tedious, but we all have our pressure points. Few players get under my skin like he does. The only thing he excels at is being an absolute bell end -

Faes has been publicly flirting with other clubs to force a move the last three summers. Every time anyone else makes a mistake he throws a strop. When it's him he just laughs. Plus he's shit at football. Just realised maybe you posted the above in case scouts are checking the forums to see how his current club rate him. Thinking about it, I agree with you - he's a great player who would be a superb asset to any club on the pitch and in the dressing room -
I saw Oxford City play this season. Don't remember this guy, or indeed Oxford mounting an attack. Gerr'im in!

Where are you seeing this? Can't see it anywhere else

I agree but playing devil's advocate... For his faults, RVN had a strong character. Didn't do him much good.

Championship 2025/26 Season
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to Foxin_Mad's topic in Leicester City Forum
I find it strange Demarai Gray played 169 times for us - only 10 fewer games than Mahrez, and more than players like Taggart (142) and Fuchs (145). Other than Cardiff (a) and Everton (h) I can't remember him doing much at all on the pitch. The thing I think of first about him is when he almost decapitated himself at the PFA Awards. A few years ago I'd have hated it, but now I think he's what we need. The team (/club) has a serious lack of leadership. Dyche has that in spades. I really think he'd get us promoted and keep us there.

Fine as a back up. We have two young keepers, and at least one will move on. Always a place for an experienced senior in the dressing room, and I'd rather that be a sub keeper than a starting outfield player.

Our new starting Striker.

Evan Ferguson would be my top choice, preferably permanent but loan if his fee is too high. He'd score loads at this level and also be a great foil for Fatawu, Mavididi, BEK, Monga etc. Reality is we'll have to get somebody who's a risk or a bit broken. Ferguson is the best realistic option in my opinion. -
Would be an excellent signing

I think Calvert-Lewin is going to West Ham. He used to be a real threat... for about a season roughly 5 years and 10 injuries ago. The only time he has ever hit double figures was under Ancelotti. Outside of those two seasons his goal returns are 1, 4, 6, 5, 2, 7, 3.
-
Don't know much about how good he is but seems to tick 3 boxes in being young, inexpensive and versatile. Would be helpful if he was good at football as well. Fingers crossed

Stephy Mavididi (no real rumour, some clubs "interested.")
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to Tuna's topic in Transfer Talk
Near the top of the list of players I'd like to keep - I wouldn't want to sell for less than £20m. At the same time, it is also true it's a position we seem to have disproportionate depth. Disappointing but it could be sensible in our current predicament to sell and invest in other positions. -
It's not like we have a history for it. Unless forgetting somebody obvious, I think the only manager in my lifetime who played for us was Rob Kelly (and both his playing and managing stints were pretty brief). It's far from the most important characteristic needed, but maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing to appoint somebody with ties / affinity to the club.

LCFC - Family Night Football memories/photos?
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to Ryanlcfc3's topic in Leicester City Forum
Loved these, were the way my dad introduced us to football. I'm sure that's the case for many (/most) supporters my age. Can only imagine the reason not to do it now is costs. Presumably the club has to foot some significant security, staffing and running costs to open up the King Power for a youth team game. -

Probably felt like he was playing against Belgium rather than for them -
Not heard of most of the players out of contract but I'm sure there's some gems in there. Of the players I've heard of and would realistically join (sorry KDB!), I think Tom Carney, Josh Brownhill and Jeff Schlupp make the most sense. Not sure we need old players on the decline. Hopefully we have a summer like the last relegation when I'd never heard of Mavididi, Fatawu or Hermansen but they quickly established themselves.

Wasn't Wes their captain when we signed him?
