Worst recent signing?
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to LeePhilpottsBaldSpot's topic in Leicester City Forum
I've repressed that from my memory. -
Unbelievable that we bankrupted ourselves spending €167m / £147m on this lot...

Leicester v Middlesboro - Tuesday 4th November
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to beepee1984's topic in Leicester City Forum
We just can't keep playing an utterly predictable 4-2-3-1 with slow build-up and isolated players. Keeper (any) Nelson Veste Okoli Ricardo Thomas Hamza Skipp James Fatawu Ayew Edit to say - I know it's a crap team and playing our best player out of position, but maybe shuffling our shit squad a different way will create a different outcome -
I've got very little faith in him, but I'll say the same thing I said when we sacked Rodgers, Cooper and van Nistelrooy. While the manager seems inept, the rot runs a lot deeper than the dugout. I have less faith in the people picking the next manager than I do in the current manager. Even if he seems to be absolutely rubbish.

Boring Boring Leicester
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to The Leicester Badger's topic in Leicester City Forum
Beat me to it I agree with the OP though. We are tedious, it's been really boring for a really long time now. -
We 100% could, though I think barring a huge deduction we'll be ok. It feels inevitable we will go down again in the next couple of years if we don't sort things out.
-
He's underwhelmed at times this season, but I think he's ok - and definitely far from the worst offender. Young and seems to have a good attitude - one of the few positions I'm happy with continuity for the rest of the season.
-
I still think he could potentially do a job in a midfield 3, but never gets a chance as we repeatedly appoint managers who will only play 4-2-3-1. He doesn't have the athleticism for a midfield two or the creativity to be one of the 3 AMs, and never will.

Who de we need in January?
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to DJ Barry Hammond's topic in Transfer Talk
I've said it before, but Kieron Bowie from Hibs. Young, tall, powerful striker who would be good foil for our wingers. Far from the finished article but will improve. He flopped at Fulham, but Harry Kane didn't look like a world beater at Leicester at a similar age! Here's an obligatory YouTube video Would probably cost about £5m so we probably can't afford him, but I'd hope we can spend something after selling as many of our bellends as possible. -
We can't keep blaming every manager when the problem is clearly deeper than that. Somewhere within the club we need a genuine leader who will identify and act on whatever the toxic elements are and build the club back up again with an ethos we can actually enjoy.
-
Never felt anywhere near as distant from our players. Hard to get behind when so many are clearly bellends, want to leave and play such boring, ineffective football. Soumare, Faes and Vestegaard seem literally uninterested and I genuinely think it would be best for the club if they were all allowed to leave on a free if they can find another club. My team for the next game: Stolarczyk Ricardo Nelson Okoli Thomas Winks James Fatawu Ramsey Monga Evans

At this stage, I'd be tempted to give Mavididi a go as centre forward.

Ex Players - They used to play for us
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
He's not played in 5 years, so it depends on how much he's been enjoying his retirement I guess! It's 7th tier, so it's not like he's playing against hungover binmen. I went to a couple of games in the division above them last season and was impressed at the standard. -
When did a decision humble you
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to Mickyblueeyes's topic in Leicester City Forum
I try not to get over-excited any more when I've actually heard of a player we've signed, as it generally has meant they're past it. Coady, Keown, N'Gotty, Upson, Johansson, Howey, Wise, Decordova-Reid, Bennett, Dublin, Vassell, Fenton... There are exceptions of course (Huth, Evans, Cottee) and I know every signing is a gamble, but our record signing "experienced pros" feels poor at best. -
Yep, just take the loss and move on.
-
Much better than that droney dirge "We support the Lestuh, the Lestuh, the Lestuh "And that's the way we like it, like it, like it "Wohhhhheeeewohhhhweewohhhhh ""Wohhhhheeeewohhhhweewohhhhhhhh"
-
It would be easier to be enthusiastic about players who are enthusiastic to play here. For me, that rules out Soumare, Faes, Vestegaard and Kristiansen. While Skipp and Daka have been poor, I don't think it's for a lack of trying. Mavididi is on the watchlist - he seems to be permanently grumpy and average at best for over a year. Jakub Ricardo Nelson Okoli Thomas Winks James Fatawu Ramsey Monga Carranza(?) Probably wouldn't get promoted, but I don't think Soumare, Faes etc will either. And at least we'd have players that want to improve their career rather than ones who think they deserve better.

Leicester 1 - 1 Wrexham POST MATCH
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to SecretPro's topic in Leicester City Forum
I remember when watching Leicester used to be fun. Precisely, between 1992 and 2021. There were some positives in tonight's performance, but I fear I'm falling out of love with the sport. Just feels so, so flat. And it has for about 5 years now. -

With Emile Heskey's two children making their first appearances for Man City I'm wondering if we could look into a loan deal. I have no idea how good they are () and I'd rather develop our own young players than helping others... but I'd love to see a Heskey play for Leicester again!
-
Something feels off generally with him. He'll come good again but I'd give him a few games out of the spotlight.

LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to DJ Barry Hammond's topic in Transfer Talk
Fair shout and I have enormous sympathy for Alli, but sadly I'd pass. I really can't see him escape the destructive spiral, similar to Stan Collymore's. A Saudi, MLS or Birmingham/Wrexham will probably take a punt on him, but he'll be retired in the next couple of years. -
Vibes Yeah fair point. I'm just excited we have a new striker!

Worst debut of all time?
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to Phil Mitchell's topic in Leicester City Forum
Definitely in our worst XI of all time, but I find it harder to criticise him now. A friend met him at a wedding about 10 years ago and said he was a really nice guy. My mate introduced himself as a Leicester City supporter and Lewis was entirely self deprecating, apologising for being nowhere near good enough to play for us! Obviously nobody in his situation would have turned down the move, even if you knew you were going to flop.
