He was injured on 4th November and the goalkeeper coach joined at the beginning of October so it could also be attributed to the change in coaching and possibly that he is being asked to do certain things differently.

The "do they mean us?" thread pt 4
Claudio Fannieri replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
That is damning and yet very accurate representation of where we are and from an outsider, it’s hard at times to portray the mix of emotions our downfall has created from anger to sadness, from frustration, dismay to apathy to then absolute rage and contempt to everyone who has played a part in this happening. -
Was thinking about this yesterday and it may be a coincidence but the drop off in Jakubs form is since the new goalkeeping coach has come in. His he being coached and asked to do things differently for example punch more than catch crosses, handle the ball differently, take up slightly different positioning and a bit like golf, these subtle changes, rather than help gain a % it has actually had the opposite effect. Jakub was flying earlier in the season, his shot stopping in the main was excellent and his ability to command his area and deal work crosses was very rarely in doubt, now fast forward and the arrival of the new goalkeeping coach and he looks very different in his approach to what looked his natural style.

Wouldn’t want him here however if Oxford have sacked him as they think they are performing below par then when does the penny drop for us. -

Skubala or Wellens for me and I would also eat humble pie and test the water for Barry-Murphy -
I do agree regards culture, however the manager can and should play a large part in creating / driving the culture, granted it helps if the owner doesn’t have an communication line to certain players over and above the managers head. However a strong leader with some level of tactical acumen should be able to cojole enough of this group to become competitive in this league and capable of at least being in the play offs. at the time they joined the club, Brian Little, Nigel Pearson and Enzo Maresca were far from elite level managers but they came in to our club at different times when it was on its arse and managed to completely flip the culture and our fortunes. So it can be done.

I am actually in another camp, whilst our recruitment has been woeful and this is the worst squad we have had in the KP era, it is still strong enough to be competing for at least the play offs as a minimum and there is absolutely no way we should be 4-0 down at half time to a side like QPR The squad needs a refresh and reset as the mentality is poor but a good manager would at least instil some tactical basics to ensure we are continually out of games by half time, it has happened in 3 of our last 7 games. This is a poor squad in comparison to the last 10-12 years but is still on paper head and shoulders above the likes of Hull, Preston, Millwall etc who are all ahead of us, therefore showing that their managers are more tactically astute and have the ability to get their groups to out perform which is something our manager has failed to achieve this season. Again this is not mutually exclusive, one or the other, my believe is this squad could and should be performing better than mid table in the championship, losing 7 games already and conceding 31 goals. We are virtually half way through the season and are yet to witness more than a couple, if any, real 90 minute performances, we are woefully inconsistent and incapable of stringing more than 2 or 3 positive results together. The squad could do with a refresh however I also have concerns as to the quality of the manager. He is appearing to be more of a championship version of Cooper and it’s not working.

This is a great post and makes some really good points, I desperately want to see massive changes within our football club but I think that protests need to remain the right side morally. The stuff cbanted at Norwich was too much and that will mean people like me who do want genuine change would refrain from joining in. Top and Rudkin are both doing a terrible job and need to move on, but the personal abuse and some of the stuff said is a step too far and in think in those instances the argument loses momentum and credibility. In the same way that some who defend KP will say inflammatory things to people who are passionate for change. for me both sides of the discussion need to stay respectful, regardless of the side of the fence you sit we all want the same thing, for our club to be stable, secure and performing to the best of its ability.

So the club can react and fill the club shop with a load of old tat at the drop of a hat to celebrate a goal yet cannot pay their staff on the date agreed just before Christmas. Sums it up in a nutshell, feckin tinpot

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 excellent post

He will have a bad game occasionally, as all players do, put it in the weeping cupboard and move on. Saturday was a shit show on the pitch with nobody including the manager coming out of that with much in the way of credit.

We have 22 more players of higher quality than PNE and yet Paul Heginbottom is managing to get a better tune out of his mob.

When you are halfway through the season and you are looking upwards at teams like Preston, Millwall, Hull, Watford, Derby and QPR amongst others, with the squad at our disposal in comparison to there’s then it’s an absolute joke, players are a massive let down but the inability of the manager to create a cohesive unit that is at least capable of maintaining a place in the play off positions as a minimum is absolutely criminal and now as we approach halfway he has had more than sufficient time to at least get us playing well enough and consistently enough to be digging out results. Truth is after 22 games our form is all ice the place and we are regularly getting turned over by absolute slop. This cannot continue and I think a manager like Mowbray would get us competitive and consistent pretty quickly. We look incapable of putting together any more than 1 or 2 runs on the spin under Marti. Sad thing is we looked better organised and in better shape as a team under Kingy in the pre season friendlies than what we have for the majority of this season. It’s time to make a change.

Realistic Managerial Replacements

It may be a vision but it shows a lack of understanding, appreciation and is downright stupid and naive. It is a complicated system and style, we have a fixation with slow, tippy tappy, control based systems whilst at the same time our squad quality has been diminishing season on season. It’s a mess, surely after 2 relegations you recognise it’s time to progress and play a different style and look to be more aggressive and higher intensity rather than this passive crap. We have been turned over by some right old muck this season, because we are so passive and easy to play against. We are in desperate need of a Brian Little / Nigel Pearson type to come in rip it up and instill a professional culture and winning mentality, but the problem is for that to happen certain individuals would have to accept their ‘vision’ is a crock of shit and fall on their sword, which is very unlikely to happen. -
I think it was only Susan’s respect and loyalty to honour and save Vichai’s legacy as to why she stayed so long to fight the battle to prevent what has been a spectacular fall from grace. Make no mistake she is hugely respected by most at the club past and present and there is little to suggest or show she was the problem. If anything she probably challenged too much and raised her head above the parapet too often and made herself a target as she clearly saw through the incompetence of certain individuals with too much power and not enough talent or acumen.

I understand what you are saying to a degree but we don’t help ourselves when we have this bizarre obsession with replicating the Man City way…. All well and good when you have a squad of talented players and top coaches like when Rodgers was fully engaged or Maresca then it can work well. However at what point do you recognise the squad has vastly changed and so has the dynamics and now is a time to go in a different direction rather than follow the same path with lesser level players and coaches. If we were more flexible in our approach it would open up new opportunities, different coaches with fresh ideas and tactics instead we just keep rinsing and repeating with dog shit coaches who nod and agree to play the Pep way. -
Supporting Leicester City and KP are not mutually exclusive. I will love always love our club but I cannot support the current hierarchy and what they have done and are continuing to do to our football club. It is being destroyed day by day not only on the football and financial sides but also the culture and morale, this weeks debacle has shown it’s absolutely rotten. Vichai’s legacy destroyed.

Alan Nixon has a story on us today, not sure what it’s about. Hopefully it’s the fact we are about to be taken over and a new manager and DoF are on the way in.

Got to got for me, please sell up and give the club a fighting chance to move forward. The first relegation was meant to be the kick up the arse this club needed. We made a really progressive appointment with Enzo and the transfer business at least seemed to have some thought and strategy to it. However since then it’s been chaotic and hap hazard, no real strategy and patchwork quilt of managerial appointments and player signings, still on inflated wages and lengthy contracts. They have learnt nothing and there is no discernible plan, they are literally winging it in the hope we somehow get promoted and that helps sort out our finances for 12 months. There is no plan, zero acumen or innovative thinking we have literally been run into the ground. We lose a very highly regarded and respected CEO and replace the day to day running of the club with someone from KP’s supply chain and logistics department, Top our chairman and acting CEO is barely here and has been absent from duty playing Polo for the last 3 weeks or so. There is barely a week goes by without the club somehow managing to kick the fanbase in the teeth with yet another piss poor performance lacking energy and commitment or some sort of off field faux pas. We really have become the pits at the moment and if desperately needs new leadership, fresh ideas and some sort of coherent plan and strategy to take us forward.

Massive loss in my opinion, I think she was very good, but eventually her influence and control got diluted more and more by Top and Rudkin. I honestly believe she was the conscious of the club, do things the right way etc but your ability to steer the ship correctly and safely is undermined by certain individuals who are pissed on power then you are destined to eventually hit the rocks. My opinion is Susan walked away reluctantly but with no other option as she could no longer effectively influence the club to make the right decisions and take the right long term path, which led her to take the very difficult decision to step down. some of the chaotic decisions since she left has already proven this, the return of BC Game and the Christmas payroll debacle are two biggies in a very short space of time.

We did it with Cooper even though we couldn’t afford it. Top & Rudders have previous for gambling to try and achieve certain goals so I reckon they wlll twist in the hope someone new can get a tune and somehow get us in contention for the play offs and promotion. I reckon Marti’s pay off will be fairly low

Realistic Managerial Replacements

Tony Mowbray is the most realistic option for me. 18 month deal to help transition to a younger more dynamic squad similar to the job he did at Sunderland
