Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official

Cooper wasn’t flexible he was absolutely awful we had no defensive structure at all and were conceding chances left, right and centre. Any attacking play was based around chaos and largely threw releasing the shackles in the last few minutes when the game was already lost. And his desire for proven premier league experience has meant a disjointed recruitment strategy. The club have royally effed up with 2 shocking appointments they have killed any chance of making a fist of it this season. -
Soumare for that goal, absolutely woeful. We are so passive in everything we do. This season is worse than anything served up under Puel, and his football was fecking turgid, there is so little to enjoy about this team.

I am fed up of hearing at least Cooper had a plan, he didn’t he was an appalling manager who relied on moments, an almighty dollop of luck and a goalkeeper playing out of his skin, RVN has a plan and a structure the trouble is its laboured and the majority of our players that he selects lack the technical skills to execute and make it effective. 2 woeful appointments -
Fecking 90 minutes of watching Soumare trotting around barely breaking sweat on a Sunday evening. hardly helps with the Monday blues

Will Alves - loaned to Cardiff City

I think Ayew will move on, I think we look to recoup his outstanding book value and be happy to get him off the books. Anymore than that will be a huge bonus. I can see him ending up at Sheffield United or in Turkey or Saudi. BDCR i think will move on as well again on a low fee move to America or Turkey. As for Bilal whilst his numbers haven’t been particularly eye catching, his overall play has been decent and I think there will be clubs like Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth etc who may well see value in bringing him in but think it will be for a fee of probably £25m + add ons. I don’t see him wanting to play in the championship. -
Our PSR issues are self inflicted, we have overpaid on fees and wages understand you have to make tactical decisions at times to try and be competitive but we have just made rank bad decisions, paying well over the odds to bang average squad players and then also moving away from a proven model of selling an asset each season to then reinvest.

Given the wolves result today and the 9 point gap, I do think another poor uninspiring defeat tomorrow and it’s got to start to go very toxic …..it has to surely?

I agree, a well structured plan and professionalism drives the culture and standards. I think the big issue last season in March/April was fatigue especially with the midfield, we had the likes of Ndidi and KDH playing on fumes and so we lost a lot of our intensity, largely due to losing Casadei due to loan termination and Praet being made of weetabix and therefore we had limited options to rotate. -

Would love to see the likes of Jake Evans, Cartwright, Braybrooke and Monga given some opportunities from the bench in the coming weeks, highly likely we will relegated so use the last 5/6 games to start buskin for the future and next season in the championship where we will be heavily reliant on our academy as part of the rebuild. -

Spot on and we had also hit a real bad run under Cooper at the time and the rot had sunk in, the truth is the club have made 2 rank bad appointments this season and make no mistake Cooper and his horrific desire for ‘proven’ premier league players led to some dire recruitment which left us with minimal room for manoeuvre come January. I don’t think there is much to choose between either, Cooper was an horrific choice after Enzo, offered minimal continuity and had a completely different managerial style and then when we had an opportunity to replace Cooper we took a massive gamble on Ruud. Poor poor judgement by the board on both occasions, which has ultimately led to a pretty appalling season and a very likely relegation -
You can be a decent person who cares about your employees but it doesn’t mean you don’t need help or make you anymore competent in your role. Maresca himself was quite vocal that the people who run the club needed more help and expertise.

Chelsea 1-0 LCFC, post match thread
Claudio Fannieri replied to Phil Mitchell's topic in Leicester City Forum
Got to say it’s a real sign just how bad we have been when we come off the back of. 1-0 defeat, concede 20 shots and an XG of 1.78 whilst having 3 shots and an XG of 0.10 and it’s seen as progress. was it really the improvement that Ruud said it was or was it more down to Chelsea not taking their chances, lets be honest if Palmer had scored the penalty in the 20 odd minute, it would have been a different story altogether. The bar has been set so low now that this is almost seen as a moral victory, the standards at the club have stooped to a new low and I am sorry but Ruud has to go, much in the same way that Cooper went for such negative tactics & performances. Yes he changed shape but it was a fairly bizarre team selection and gave us little in the way of any attacking threat. -
Just so the feckers can slide you into the depression that is Monday

Offers absolutely zero, literally coasts through games, barely tracks his man and occasionally makes a lung busting run that makes everyone think the tide has turned. His very presence as one of our starting central midfielders sums up how far we have declined. Would rather see Henry Cartwright given an opportunity than see this guy lumber round our midfield for a minute more.

3 shots and an XG of 0.10, yet again damage limitation, this was levelled at Cooper and lets be honest nothing has changed, we should be scrapping for our lives but with so many games this season we just wave a white flag and surrender. Hate this season, was never going to be easy but this is just plain awful, barely any positives to take from this season. Piss poor recruitment, no real strategy, no planning for the future, ignoring our academy prospects and a manager who doesn’t appear to be creating any long term vision of how we want to play. This is beyond woeful, absolute waste of a season, can’t wait for it to end. Needs to go now and bring in someone with the remit to build for next season. -
If Top / King Power shut us down tomorrow ……
Claudio Fannieri replied to Sly's topic in Leicester City Forum
Don’t give them ideas, that might be the threat if the nasty supporters continue to shout horrible things towards him and his boardroom pals . -
I think the issue is we are way too cautious about giving our better academy prospects opportunities a lot earlier, we seem to be immune to bringing players into regular first team involvement before they are 20. Would be good to see players like Evans, Monga et al given the opportunity in the 1st team before they hit 18 as that would be a real statement of intent from the club that if you are good enough then you are old enough. We have to make it a clear strategy that sets us apart from other clubs that we will give our most talented players 1st team exposure at a young age, otherwise we will continue to lose our brightest talents to others clubs.
-
Another massive downside to losing Enzo in the summer. I know he had his detractors and he had his faults but he was brave enough to give academy players opportunities, Stolycyrk, Nelson, Cover, Raikhy, Wanya, McAteer all got 1st team exposure and if it hadn’t of been for injury there is no doubt Braybrooke and Alves would have seen minutes as well. Given the talent we have in our academy we have to appoint managers who fully buy into bringing 3/4 through every year, our model has to be to develop our players, give them as much game time and experience, with a view to not only generating profits through sales but also having a model that also makes us competitive in a sustainable manner.
-
Trouble is if you do boycott the game then it’s need to be a full on boycott, don’t give the club the opportunity to resell your ticket to a day tripper otherwise it will negate the impact and actually work in favour of the club who will have a full ground of happy paying customers rather than dissenting fans.

Rodger’s vs the board (chicken vs egg)
Claudio Fannieri replied to Lambert09's topic in Leicester City Forum
It was the perfect storm, with all parties contributing to what turned into a complete clown show. The board clearly led Rodgers to believe there would be a rebuild, then pulled the rug from beneath him, to make matters worse they have then continued to sell a false narrative to managers in regard to available funds and bringing players in, it happened with Enzo and now RVN. They also sanctioned the sale of our captain and goalkeeper and the decline in standards on and off the pitch started in earnest, this decision single handedly expedited our relegation. They allowed Brendan to continue despite shipping 4 away to Arsenal, 5 away to Brighton and 6 away to Tottenham all before the end of September. He should have been sacked then, they didn’t act when the season and situation was completely salvageable. By the time we did sack him the damage was done, we were in a scrap with very few fighters, too many players had checked out and the lure of Leicester, footballs bright young thing had gone, the rot had set in. Brendan had thrown in the towel and for me that is unforgivable and will always tarnish his legacy and reputation with us despite what he did achieve. For me the majority of this will and will always sit with the board who did nothing but stand back and watch Rome burn, they are truly culpable. They gave Rodgers way too much control gave hIm a ridiculous contract, allowed him free rein and when they finally started to reel him back in, he gave up and they allowed him to carry on. As soon as it become obvious he had downed tools, he should have been gone, for the greater good of the club, instead our board did nothing, threw good money after bad in January and then when it was too late sacked him anyway and we still end up relegated. An utter clusterfcuk of epic proportions which was wholly avoidable had our board acted with any kind of decisiveness and leadership. For me it will always be 25% Rodgers and 75% on the board for enabling it and not taking appropriate action when required. -

I am in no way defending RVN or saying things will pan out the same way whatsoever but I suppose we don’t see what is going on behind the scenes, when MON joined the club, we went on a pretty poor run of results over a similar time period and there were rumours of an unhappy camp etc etc, now the big difference was MON received some backing in the transfer market to strengthen in some key positions, but a lot of it was around the standards he was implementing. maybe this is similar, RVN has come in and seen what a clown show it is, and is challenging the players to raise their game, it’s far from working at the moment, but maybe the club are backing him to turn the tide. -
Problem is I think Ruud has ruffled a few feathers and questioned standards etc and the poor little darlings have got upset and gone running to Top snivelling. Top and bottom of it is the owner treats these players like his best mates, pampers and gives them too much air time, there are no boundaries and in turn it isolates and undermines the manager. The players know if they whinge to Top he will listen and massage their ego’s so as soon as a manager comes in and dishes out any home truths or raises standards to a level our players don’t like or agree with they down tools or sulk to the DoF and owner who enable their behaviour far too often. the culture of the club is rotten to the core and that is due to not undertaking enough due diligence on players character as part of our transfer dealings and allowing players to have too much of voice and influence on the owner.

This actually shows what a good job Enzo did in coming into such a broken club and resetting the mentality and instilling structure, discipline and professionalism. Yes surprise surprise there were rumblings near the end of the season but he seemed to keep the players on his side in the main, which given how our club operates is no mean achievement. Moving forward that has to be the blue print, not necessarily the style we play football but the discipline and professionalism of the club, therefore Top and Rudders need to be identifying managers who carry those attributes and qualities and that is our managerial recruitment strategy moving forward, the style of play is consistent but not rigid, but most important is that the manager and his staff are given autonomy to instill elite level of discipline and standards and are backed 1000% by the owner and DoF.
