I may have got this wrong but my understanding is if you are an established Premier League team and get relegated you will automatically fall foul of FFP. The only way of not would be to predict your demise and 'give in' by selling assets early. Also, when do we hear if Everton and Forest are going to be deducted points (in Everton's case further points)? If, we can't be touched by the EFL and are promoted but can be docked points by the Premier League it wouldn't be fair to take those points next season if Forest and Everton lose points this season for their breaches. What a mess!

Phew. An ugly win but a win to steady the nerves. Fatawu man of the match. I thought Faas looked so much better tonight. He can't play in the middle of 3 when we invert a full back. Well done Coady. Vardy looked a threat first half. I thought he'd get hooked sooner in the second so Ihanacho could get on the ball. Ndidi played some minutes (looked off the pace but we survived so it's all ok). The concern is the chances we are making are still being wasted. We were deadly early part of the season. Then we made so many chances it didn't matter if we missed a few. Now we make the chances but can't score. That's got to change quickly now. -

I'd play 3, 5, 2 Martin O'Neill style. Faas, Coady, Nelson Albrighton, Hamza, Winks, KDH, Justin Daka & Vardy I love watching Fatawu and Mavididi but we haven't the personal to play our normal formation. Daka and Vardy have the pace to keep an eye on the fullbacks. KDH to push up into Izzet a '10' role. Hamza does the Savage work Winks mops up like Lennon. -
While Ricardo and Vesty are out I'd be playing: Choudhury, Faas, Coady, Justin. Hamza moves onto Midfield when we have the ball which puts Coady in the middle of 3 defenders. I don't think Faas is a Central Defender in a 3 as he is to aggressive and presses to high. When you look at QPRs first goal it was because Faas had the backline to high up the pitch. Another thought... Justin was often our spare man yesterday. He found himself in space many times towards the end of the game with the ball at his feet. We saw his weakness. He couldn't play his game and drive with the ball. He was forced to try and play defence splitting balls. I thought he could have even had a go. I couldn't help but think we'd missed a trick by not getting Doyle on with 20mins to go. Yes we'd have lost some pace at the back but we were losing anyway. I agree with the calls for experience. I'd have Vardy and Albrighton prepared to come on second half. Albrighton can finish (an attribute often overlooked) plus his relationship with Vardy can buy you a goal every 3 games with his early balls into the box.

He has earned a go in the Prem. A 2 year contract suits all I think. He plays the Enzo way and looks good with Faas and Justin. With Coady, Nelson and Souttar as good back ups we would be sorted at CB. If he doesn't sign and we don't get Doyle we will have to buy. I hate it when promoted teams buy in new squads. Hopefully, we won't have too.

Will the malaise disappear next season? Will we the fans be up for a relegation battle? Those of us old enough to remember the 90s will know (currently) winning the Championship is nothing to be sniffed at. Yes the Wembley trips at the end of the playoffs were exciting but its the pain of not going up that I remember. Especially, the Swindon one. All while Forest and Coventry were enjoying the Prem. Perhaps, this season has just been to easy (so far)? Perhaps, we fans crave a contest? Perhaps the lack of contests makes us less sharp when we get onto one? I know I'd rather have the above questions sitting 10 points clear than looking up getting excited about overtaking Leeds and Southampton if we beat them.

I think it's been coached into them. There are so many games that winning at a canter is preferred, even if it means a few last minute draws, to exhausting themselves chasing further goals. I guess it makes them fresher for the following games. I think this was a Man City tactic as well.

All this just makes the FFP stuff even more annoying. If we are forced to sell our KDH to balance the books and Forest and Everton aren't relegated I'll be fuming. That said. We could sell KDH, watch Everton and Forest come down and be promoted. Surviving the Prem next season would look easier on paper if 2 of Luton, Sheff United and Burnley survive. I don't want to see him go. He is one of our best players and drives standards. Yes I'll be annoyed if he does go but the league is still in our hands. I'd also imagine we've deals lined up ready to cover us.

18 games left. 8 points up on 3rd. Southampton gained 1 point on us in the last 10. No panic here. We need a few victories on the bounce to get us going again. The lads looked mentally and physically fatigued in the last 10 today. Hopefully, a win in the cup and a fixture to look forward to will give them the spark they need. -
Wow. Didn't see that coming. Timing is the problem for us. But it does provide opportunities for others on Monday. I never warmed to Casadei but I'd have liked to have seen what he was capable off with a run of games now he has settled. My fear always has been that our squad would be stronger this season than next, even if we are in the Prem. I hope my fear doesn't materialise.

The Man City issue just becomes more ludicrous and unjustifiable every time they win something else. Pep winning an award the other night for instance. Well of course he is a great coach, he has the very best players at his disposal. Everton only got 10 points when they did because the timing of it didn't effect anything. Nothing changed. The timing still gave them the chance to still survive. I think this is why Man City hasn't been touched yet. If they sanctioned them now- let's say 100 points, what point would there be in them fulfilling their fixtures properly. They could simply roll up into fixtures with their B Team or youth team and concentrate on the cups and Champions League. Therefore, I'd imagine it will be the Summer when they are sanctioned. Further points sanctions to Everton and a sanction for Forest works best if not delayed.

If you grew up in the towns and villages on the Cov side of Leicester and had to endure the 90s Sky Blue Scum at school (they were Premier League and we were div 1) then this is the biggest game of the season. Come on Leicester!

Depends who is listening to the conference, I'd imagine its in Enzo's best interest to keep it quiet if its a minor injury. He won't want any tempting 15million offers from clubs for Wilf in this window. Also you don't know how much detail has been provided to Nigeria. I know I'd love to know all the details but sometimes its in the best interests of the club to keep it all a bit quiet. With that being said I'd imagine its not a serious injury and he will be back playing when he is fit (or the club think they can get away with having him on the field).

Ipswich (A) 1 - 1 - Boxing Day - Post-Match Thread

I think he is playing around with the lads a bit. I know that seems mad on the face of it but he hasn't been here all that long. I think he is still learning what individual players can and can't do still. What works and what doesn't. I also think tonight helps us with the January transfer window. I think Enzo will know what he needs not just to get us over the line this season but moving into next (hopefully in the Prem). It's a big window of opportunity for us. I also think he his thinking about the players we are going to lose to the ACON. The January window could negate the negative impact that will undoubtedly have. In Enzo I trust -

I think we would have blown them away if we had a week to recover. It's all good. As annoying as that was to concede so late it doesn't matter if we win the next one. With our squad we should be able to make changes and be ok. Not many have that luxury. -
Daka certainly needed this little run in the team. It's also reminded Ihanacho that anything but his best isn't going to be tolerated anymore. That can only be a good thing. We all know everything there is to say about Vardy. What he does do when he plays is take the attention off others. I hope he stays if we are promoted as the squad will need him around. Cannon, we will just have to wait and see. He was clearly signed for the New Year when our strikers will be thin on the ground. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. Next year in the Prem (hopefully) we will need signings. Some will stay, some will go. But I think we have a good platform to build on and that would of course include Daka (if he stays). I think what I'm trying to say is for the first time in a long time I'm not to fussed who we lose in January as I think we have enough to get us to the end of the season. We must be a very attractive proposition right now to potential young players. I'm a Happy Fox

I'm really enjoying watching Mavididi. I thought I'd massively miss watching Barnes and was gutted to lose him (I think we knew Mads was going). I would love to see Barnes in our current system. I think, like Mavididi, he would have been devastating as he would have seen much more of the ball. You never know we might get him back as I don't think it will work out for him at Newcastle and if we continue to play this style next season we will need Prem quality players and its in the attacking areas you make substitutions. Basically I'm not sure we've got enough Prem quality out wide as Kasey is unproven. I'd have also liked to see if Barnes could play 8.
-
I thought Birmingham were deliberately forcing us to play the ball on Justin's side to try and expose him last night. I think he is a great player. But his attributes don't suit our style at the moment which is a real shame. Probably one to move on in the Summer. But as a supporter I'm grateful for the shift he is putting in for the team at the moment and we shouldn't lose sight of that.
-
Another thought. It's still November. We've still a long season ahead. We've a lot of games coming very quickly. Yet we face these games with only one significant injury- Doyle. It was really important we didn't lose last night (and we nearly won, even tho we were rubbish) but it was also equally important we didn't pick up injuries to key players. Also, perhaps, even more important to give some of the players returning from injury some minutes. They aren't bad players, but they won't reach their standards if they don't play. We know the whole squad is going to be used as we head now into the Christmas period. We've got a whole squad. I guess what I'm trying to say is a point here a Sheffield might mean a run of games where we win comfortably against teams with depleted squads/shattered players. It's the hope that kills you 😂
-
Best New Signing Hermanson- We can't play our style without him Favourite Game Norwich (a) Most improved player Vestergaard Most disappointing player Casadei Player you want in Jan Cover for Winks! Weakest position Defensive CM- I'm not convinced we have an alternative should Winks be injured Predicted finish 1st King Power gripe More a league gripe- not being able to watch my team on telly knowing that the rest of the world can.
-
Loving it obviously. Also aware we have over 30 games still to go. But we are nearing a quarter of the season gone. If we do get promoted my only worry is that we may be in a situation where we start the Prem season with a weaker squad. Hear me out. We've a few on loan and also we may lose a few at the end of their current contracts. Some may also be cherry picked by 'bigger clubs' (but of course we are massive ;)). We will have to replace players and our success if/when we return will depend on the quality of those players. Another thought, I wonder if a few of those that left (Madison, Barnes aside) are regretting their choices?
-
I hope he comes good. He should come good. He has so much potential. My take (from the little I have seen) is he looks like he believed he was ready. Especially, when you consider what a great Summer he had. I think he has had a bit of a shock. 1. That he isn't starting every week and 2. That he isn't quite ready yet. However, I believe he is in a great environment. He has a coach and players around him that will help him, support him and nurture him. It might take an injury to someone and him getting a run of games but I think he will get to the levels we want this season.
-
With Daka staying I don't think he was signed for the here and now. He simply has to be ready for when Ihanacho and Daka go to the African Cup of Nations. I'd imagine he was signed now to secure his services.

It was sad to loose Maddison and Barnes. I also don't think we got great money for Maddison. However, I think we let him go because it was early in the window which freed up funds to do the business we wanted. I think this was quite shrewd really and has helped massively in our strong start.
