On a separate note, I'd hate to be England manager. The Prime Minister of the UK doesn't come under as much scrutiny as the England manager. If you pick players solely based on form, you're criticised for a lack of consistency and cohesion in your selections. If you put your best 11 players on the pitch at once at all costs, you're criticised for not having a proper game plan and shoehorning players into the team. If you pick too many defensive players, you're considered a coward. Too many attacking players, you're naive and get slaughtered for being overun. I can never tell you what the plan for England going forward should be. Many of these players thrive in club sides that are setup to complement systems/other players in those teams and then stink the place out when playing for England. I genuinely don't think I've seen Declan Rice have more than five good games for England.

Nah, the 2018 world cup was not 'freak luck'. The team we had really wasn't very good at all. We lost in extra time in the semi final to a team that had better players. Croatia had genuinely world class central midfielders in Rakitic and Modric. England had Henderson, Alli and Lingard. The draw was favourable, sure. However, how often have we seen England teams in the past previous years look rubbish against supposedly inferior opposition?Maybe I'm just si used to disappointment that I don't take beating lesser sides for granted.

I went to the game yesterday. What a brilliant day, though the last ten minutes was excrutiating. If Pollard makes that drop goal with five minutes to go, it would have been so much more comfortable. I felt that we left points out there in the first half and Sale really were there for the taking. You just knew they were gonna come into it in the second half. Great resilience shown by the team to grind it out second half though. I don't go to the Tigers often, but I have to say that as a day out it was far more enjoyable than your average Leicester game. The pubs in town were busy, you could stand on the terrace with a pint of Tiger, you could get served quickly, there were things happening on the pitch at halftime, the ground isn't a generic bowl, in the main stand after the game there was a soul band playing, they had a tent with a DJ in the fan park, lots of local food stalls and you got to watch a team giving absolutely everything for the cause. It kinda depressed me as a Leicester fan to be honest. Obviously the 'chants' (if you can call them that) are very monotonous.

It's funny because two years ago he was the next big thing. Middlesbrough looking for a new manager is bad for us, as it's another club with aspirations of getting promoted that are looking for a new manager. Our squad as it is better than their's, but if we are looking at a points deduction and potentially a transfer embargo, then are we a more attractive proposition than them? I'm not entirely convinced.
-
There is literally no precedent for that. Points deductions that have been greater than 15 points have been for entering administration and either not fulfilling league rules for exiting administration or making illegal payments to agents. Derby were hit with a nine point deduction for for financial irregularities, which seems more inkeeoing with our charges.

I often think that in 10 years time if we have failed to get promoted out of the championship, a lot of people will view us through a nostalgic lense like many people my age do with Blackburn. They'll say things like 'proper club, should be in the Premier league'.

I loosely know a guy who is a Derby fan and season ticket holder who works for Forest in what I believe is a 'Forest in the community' type role. There are many pictures of him on his socials in Forest attire. It's difficult to put myself in this position because working in football in capacity is a big thing for a lot of people, but I really could never see myself working for Coventry, Forest or Derby (who I care a lot less about). I certainly find it difficult to imagine a Birmingham fan not only working for Villa but also being seen wearing anything with the club's badge on outside of work. I have a mate who is a Celtic fan from Glasgow who also knows him who said that he wouldn't work for Rangers even if his life depended on it.

What type of football do people want to watch?

Dirty longball football with a bunch of players who look like bricklayers. -
Oh, did you not realise? He's 6ft 4
-
When we won the title our owners paraded around the pitch with the trophy as though they had won it single handedly.
-
OK, as someone to potentially get us out of the championship, he's not a dreadful option. However, he will relegate us immediately if we got promoted and stuck with him. Also, I find him incredibly dislikable.

Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
BenTheFox replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
People will hate me for saying it but I'd much rather have Sean Dyche than Russell Martin or RvN for that matter. That's not saying I want Sean Dyche. -
The year is 2053, and Leicester fans are still calling for the return of Nigel Pearson as manager following another relegation.
-
We've sold three academy graduates in the last five years for a combined £110 million.
-
As conflicted as I am about him, I do find this quite funny considering that we have been relegated and will be a club that wants to be promoted next season. It really doesn't matter at this point whether he is good enough to manage a mid-table premier league side.
-
I watched the overlap interview today, and I can see how he has done well at either an underdog like Burnley or a complete shitshow like Everton where the objective was to stay in the league. Some of his attitudes are so outdated, and as someone who said they'd take him because we are not in a great situation, I find myself feeling a little apprehensive about him. Another thing that was apparent is that although he has an image of being straight talking and no nonsense, when you pay attention he's actually quite slippery and employs the same defelection/self-preservation tactics that Rodgers does.

Championship 2024/2025 Season Thread

Really shit that the play-off final kick-off time hasn't been announced yet. No consideration for the fans making travel plans. -
If I had to call it now (obviously way too early), I reckon the top six in no order will be Ipswich, us, Southampton, the loser of the play-off final, Birmingham and Cov. Ipswich are probably the best equipped to come straight back up. They signed players last summer who did well in the championship and I don't think the manager has done enough this season to get a move. As far us, I think it depends on whether there are sanctions placed upon on us and if we can sign a striker that can score goals at that level.

And to think we have some people on here who think we will get relegated from the championship next season... The standard is appalling. It used to be that there were several players in the championship who you felt could cut it in the premier league. Genuinely can't think of any standout players from sides who haven't been promoted. -
LCFC 2-0 Southampton, post-match thread
BenTheFox replied to Phil Mitchell's topic in Leicester City Forum
One thing that has become apparent this season is that both us and Southampton seriously lack self respect. Both sets of fans have fully dove into the small time "we've got the ball", "we've scored a goal" nonsense. These are two football clubs that have spent many years in the Premier league. It's not like we're Huddersfield or Barnsley or Luton. A decade or so ago we were the envy of all clubs our size. -
Greatest player in our history but I can't get my head around him putting Simpson over Ricardo is his best Leicester team.

****ing state of me, sobbing at work

Our greatest ever player without any shadow of a doubt.
