Will you go to any more matches this season?
OnlyOneCity replied to hejammy's topic in Leicester City Forum
Do you by any chance sing “in the good times and the bad we always back the lads” or do you just keep shtum when that’s going on. I never said who was a better fan or not. I choose to follow the team and usually with false hope. I’m not interested in being dismissed by others on here who think they are the ones that care, because they are showing disinterest and telling others not to go.attend games. If you don’t want to go then don’t. I do and therefore I do. -

Do you actually attend matches? For those that go, even in the bad times, ( remember the song -in the good times and the bad)? we are SUPPORTING the team, whether you think that’s stupid or not is irrelevant. If you can’t get your head around that then you don’t understand what following a team means to many. -
Thankfully, this style of football seems to be starting to have run its course. Even Pep has noticed that teams like Brighton, Forest, Bournemouth and Fulham, are not playing it by messing around at the back. Yes Maresca got us promoted playing a style which was new to other Championship teams. We played the best football at the start of the season when we were learning the style. As soon as other teams caught on, they just waited for us while we passed the ball on the half way line to each other. He said the other week when asked about the jeering from the fans when a player played it back, that the player knew that if he didn’t pass it back, he wouldn’t be in the team the next week. The same with the keeper if he played it long.

Why would any self proclaimed City fan not want to see what is likely to be JV’s last home match for City and say goodbye to the GOAT? Surely for this occasion, this should take priority over any hate for the owner/board. -
So you’re not exactly a regular and want those who are, to stop going.
-
I assume this is a wind up! Unless you expect Vardy to pick the ball up in midfield, make a slide rule pass for himself to run onto, then score. Also when necessary, to stop the opposing striker going through by playing at CB or RB and stopping any crosses coming in. I don’t think he’s tall enough for the keeper position though.

Presumably you won’t be renewing.
-
Fully agree with those comments. You’ll probably get called a happy clapper as that’s what the boo boys, who think they are the only ones who support the team properly, like to call other fans who they perceive as not caring. For many of us, it’s just in our blood and not going down and supporting them, is not an option or even a consideration. Wonder how many of those who are advocating not renewing or not doing so themselves, will actually go through with it. Like you say, it’s the team we support and we’ll be there when the owners/managers have gone.
-
Get Ashley you’ll probably get Dennis Wise as well. No to both. Why on earth would you want Ashley. His contempt of the Newcastle fans was obvious. If you think the current owners don’t care about the fans do you think Ashley would love us? If it’s a businessman you’re after then there must be more than just him.

Wherever he was playing last night, doesn’t mean you can only control the ball if you are a striker. His first touch is as bad as anyone I’ve seen. He can run fast but it’s not a race and if he ever manages to have the ball at his feet, he can’t control it to run with. He’s got away with a lot of flack because fans want to see him do well and he seems a genuinely nice guy. We are so weak in midfield as neither Ndidi nor Soumare can be trusted to pick up the ball and carry it forward, without losing control of it. We are so out of touch with how other teams play. How many do we see who, when a ball is played to them on the edge of the box, have a shot. What do we do? We keep passing it across the box to the other side or play it backwards. There were several times last night when we had throw ins near the opp. penalty box, within about 10 seconds, the ball was back with Hermandson. Most of the games we play is as though we are actually winning and just keeping possession in our own half. RVN should not have been appointed in the first place. He was just a famous name for the board to brag about. I sincerely hope he’s gone by next season.

Just like many on here then.

Why are our fans the way they are?
OnlyOneCity replied to Nolucklcfc's topic in Leicester City Forum
Why wouldn’t they be? They would have been in their late teens early 20s, standing in the seating area on the Kop. I doubt they would have been sitting in the Main Stand where many of the oldies of that period sat. All seater stadiums, although a good idea for the shorter built fans means that there’s a lack of fans all standing closely together and thishas contributed to the poor atmospheres in all grounds. -

We gained a lot of new fans when we got promoted in 2014. We were getting about 23k for matches in the Championship but gained new fans in the Premier League. I think Cov had more scope to get younger fans as for a while they were exiled from their own ground and when they returned, I think this brought in a sense of attachment and belonging again. -

Do you notice when you go to away matches whether or not the home fans are all under 40? Have you seen the away coaches arrive and are all the supporters under 40? Are you an older supporter and if not, do you see yourself still supporting City in 20 years time? If you do, then see how angry you get when the newer fans think you should stop going to games because you’re too old. You’re never too old, for many of us, it’s a lifelong commitment and obsession. Sorry if you can’t accept or understand that concept. -

It seems that the same fans who show disdain for the older supporters who have supported the team for decades, don’t like it when they perceive the same disrespect accorded to them by the owner/board. We all support Leicester City. Because we don’t boo the team doesn’t mean we don’t care. I’m more than happy to chant anti hierarchy chants but not willing to discourage the team no matter how many times some of us are criticised for not doing so. -

Very true. When Tigers won the European Cup, they had a few thousand turn up in the Town Hall Square, when City won the Championship, they had a bus tour finishing with thousands 8n the Town Hall Square. The obsession with what other fans think of us is ridiculous. As said many times, the atmospheres at other grounds is just as apathetic. Guardiola even had to ask the Man City fans to be a bit louder and more proactive when they won the league. If you’ve been to Anfield then once YNWA has finished, it’s back to sleep mode. Football fans are the same all over the country. Leeds is always held up as so brilliant. Last week when they played Sunderland,, it was very quiet. Soon as they scored, all of a sudden it was the best atmosphere anywhere, according to the sycophantic commentators. -
Why, because I don’t boo the players? It’s the hierarchy that needs the flack, the team needs all the support it can get. If you don’t see that then you’re not supporting the team and you are the problem if that translates to the pitch.

Who on here has the right to almost demand that fans don’t go to matches or to walk out at a certain time? Just because some supporters want to carry on supporting the TEAM until the bitter end, doesn’t mean that they don’t care about the club or that are lesser fans because they just want to just try and support the team in blue and white.. if you don’t want to go then don’t, if you do want to go then do so. I have no intention of boycotting a match just because someone on a forum says I should and implies that I don’t care for the club if I don’t.

Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
OnlyOneCity replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
At least Winks is prepared to move the ball forward. After a couple of decent performances earlier in the season, it’s time Soumari was dropped. Although he’s frustrating at times, I think Mavididi should start on Sunday. He surely has a point to prove and again, is prepared to go forward. On another note, did you hear Maresca’s comments when asked about Fernandes being jeered for passing the ball back to the keeper? He said if he didn’t pass back he would be out of the team. Same for the keeper if he goes long. No room for initiative then if there’s a chance of a break. -
Usually a guaranteed 6 points for City.

Rodger’s vs the board (chicken vs egg)

Calling put the players and saying they weren’t good enough was extremely bad man management. How many of us on here would feel knocked and unworthy if our bosses had announced to the world that he wanted more quality in his office/workplace and that his current crop weren’t good enough? A team with Barnes, Maddison and Tielemans should never have been relegated. There’s 3 quality players for you. -
West Ham 2-0 KPFC - Post Match Apathy
OnlyOneCity replied to Daggers's topic in Leicester City Forum
The only loyalty (usually), is from the fans. Don’t know why some on here get so vitriolic about fans supporting in their own way. Those that want to boo do so, but those that don’t, shouldn’t be castigated by the boo boys and vice versa. Regarding crowd protests, Man Utd and Spurs have been doing it for far longer and with much greater numbers. Has it made any difference? Glazers and Levi still there. -
