Great memories of the Blackburn away match. Everybody in the away end, standing on a carpet of Sporting Green/ blue?, just drawing Rooster towards goal, knowing he would score. On the way home, listening to Danny Baker on 606, when that programme was about fans of many different teams, chatting to Danny as though sitting in the pub with him. No Alan Green, Robbie Savage etc. telling you that you were talking a load of rubbish, and that they knew best!

When I started watching City regularly in 1966, my favourite player was Jackie Sinclair, a wonderful goal scoring winger. When he left, it was Lenny Glover. There were then a few down years, Gary was next, then Gary McAllister til he went. A few more dodgy years, then Scott Taylor, Steve Guppy, Steve Claridge, then my main man for many years, Muzzy. The years after Filbert Street were up and down, literally, without for me, someone who really hooked me in. Onto 2013, Nugent and Vardy gave us a great strike partnership, and since his Premier League debut against Man. Utd. where his personality really through, Jamie Vardy has been my GOAT.

When I went on a stadium trip 3 or 4 years ago, Walshie and Elliott, who were the hosts, both agreed that the only player from their era, who would get in the current team, was Muzzy. Anyone describing him as just hard working with a few skills, did not see him play. He was a super, extremely skilful footballer, who, if Glen Hoddle hadn’t have been the England manager, would have played for England . He was the top scoring midfielder in the country, but as Hoddle had sold him to City, never got a chance, so played for Turkey. Muzzy in his time, would have easily competed in today’s Premier League. Don’t compare him to Lennon as they were totally different types of players.

When City were on the way to winning the league, a Chelsea fan at work was excited because Conte was joining them the next season. He said, we’re going to have 169m to spend next season, (it was a lot of money back then). I said well John, that’s why WE need to win the league to show that it can be done without spending millions. We of course, have since seen quoted from some high-up, that “we don’t want another Leicester “ . I think they’re making sure there isn’t!

Most football songs are copied from someone else. In the 60s and 70s, all fans sang You’ll Never Walk Alone, Hey Jude, almost any upbeat current pop song. The na na na etc was Lenny Glover’s song, the Mighty Quinn was for Stringy. For Liverpool fans, it was the mighty Emlyn. It doesn’t matter if you adapt other fans songs to suit your own. They all do it.

Coventry Home First Game of the Season
OnlyOneCity replied to JoachimWasMyHero's topic in Leicester City Forum
The poznan looks pathetic when done by anyone but the polish fans. Can’t understand why people think it’s so good. It’s ridiculous and Man City fans look stupid when they do it. -
The car park next to the Merry Monarch on Fosse Road North, is only £2.00. for 24 hours. It has stated matchday parking for £5.00 on a sign, for the past few years, but apparently doesn’t accept this payment! Right end of town for Coalville travellers.

Manager for the Championship rebuild - who do you want?
OnlyOneCity replied to Happy Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
If renewing your ST is dependent on the new manager decision, perhaps you should give it up so someone on the waiting list, who will appreciate it,. Looks like there will be a few available. -
Favourite moments from last season

Won 9 and drew 7 -
In response to Heathrow Fox’s comment about knowing youngsters who think Vardy is crap, that says more about their lack of football knowledge than Vardy’s current ability. I think he’ll be effective in the Championship and will bring into play, old fashioned gamesmanship against those players who think they can best him.

I too have very fond memories of Filbo. My first match was in 1961. I have been through the big headed teenage years where no one could tell me anything about football that I didn’t know, I’ve been mardy all weekend cos City lost. The Bloomfield era was great as not only did we play good football, but it was appreciated by other fans too which at the time, was something to be proud of. The 80s were a dreadful time of low attendance and football violence. The 90s under Brian Little, got us back on the road and Sky put much needed money into the game. Yes, the old grounds now engender nostalgia, but in all honesty, some were borderline health hazards. Some fans will be introduced to grounds next season where little or no money has been spent, especially in the away ends. Might appreciate the KP more. Hate that we’ve been relegated, but will carry on supporting City my way, which includes not booing but clapping. Those who boo are entitled to do so but I also have a right not to. Up the City!

On Sunday, the scores from Everton and Leeds will be known immediately due to internet access. Remember when we relied on someone in the ground having a radio. During the City V Oxford match when West Brom were playing at Bristol Rovers, suddenly, there would be excitement in a part of the ground, the fans would be jumping up and down and all sorts of rumours filtered to those without access. E.g. Rovers had scored, West Brom had missed a penalty, Rovers were down to 10 men. It was like a Mexican Wave going round the ground. On t.v the following day, it showed the West Brom fans jumping up and down at Rovers as they thought Oxford had scored. All very exciting but so tense! Come on City!

Get ready for the annual constant whinging at the ref by Henderson, every time there’s a free kick given against Liverpool and the continual diving/fouling by Milner to break up play if City are on top at any time.

With regards to Col City Fan’s last line, yes you will see the same faces next season as have probably been watching for decades. This is what a fan does. It doesn’t mean that they are apathetic but are supporters as the word says. The players and fans are on the floor, and it’s up to us SUPPORTERS , to lift them by giving unflinching support against Villa. To read some comments, the hate for BR outweighs the love for City and would sooner we lost just to spite him. Will you cheer a Villa goal or a City mistake? How about we try and win IN spite of him. It doesn’t need an organised song book just from the heart support like against Forest and Spurs. It is in us somewhere, just needs the right occasion which Tuesday certainly is. Up the City

Judging by some of the comments on here, many of the current posters will not be following City once they reach 40 as they seem to object to any older supporters. They seem to be far too concerned about what fans of other clubs think about our fans, whether it’s how old they look or how loud they shout. Palace fans are always held in high esteem by commentators because they sing a lot, but my abiding memory of the FA Cup Final between Man Utd and Palace, was the rows of black jacketed Palace fans behind the goal with NO colours. No identity, they could have been anyone.
