  1. Not comfortable with all this talk about whether we should go easy on them or not
  2. Also jobs figures I think
  3. Until the Trump era is over, the only hope we can have for the US to curb environmental damage of any sort (including CO2), is that the market takes a lead. Not all that hopeful of this, but even Texas is heavily into renewables, so maybe some room for optimism. Trump is a complete calamity and I suspect history will judge him harshly.
  4. Looks like the real. I hope we can keep him for a while, but seems unlikely.
  5. Problem is that as fast as contracts expire and dead wood is released, they buy more overpaid dross to replace. Doing nothing is actually a step up.
  6. I doubt I’ll be using AirAsia again or Booking.com, but I’m getting a glimmer of hope that I might get my money back on one of the flights. It’s all a bit difficult to say really as you’re never quite sure whether anyone is actually doing anything even after you think you’ve made contact. I reckon I’ll pay a bit more in the future to deal with airlines & travel agents that definitely have offices in Australia, but even then, I’m pretty sure Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin, etc have all been in the news after screwing over their customers. It seems like the travel industry, especially airlines, get away with murder here.
  7. A bit like Demari Gray, but with a better attitude, Can’t say he hasn’t been given a chance. A shame he’s been such a disappointment.
  8. Thought we looked quite classy albeit against inferior opposition. Still not creating enough chances or converting the ones we get, but probably can’t glean too much from pre-season. Exciting to see our youth talent in action, particularly Monga. Hope he gets every opportunity this season and doesn’t get his flair coached out of him. Potential Mahrez levels of talent IMO, and hard-working too.
  9. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I’m probably not as seasoned a traveller as you and this is the first time anything like this has happened in my experience. Turns out that booking.com made a mistake in the email they sent me when AirAsia cancelled my flight to Bali. The alternative flight offered wasn’t for 9th August after all, it was for 4th August like the original flight. If I’d have known that there wouldn’t have been any dramas. So booking.com mostly to blame, and myself for panicking, but AirAsia not providing any way to speak to a human is unforgivable. I’m sure it could all be sorted out in short order if I could speak to someone. Loads of people complaining online about Bo (the AirAsia AI). Bo is a c**t and I told him so I now have 4 seats on the exact same outbound and return flights for just the wife and myself 😂 I’ll no doubt have to battle on some more over the next week or so, but getting my money back looks like it’s going to be an uphill struggle. Probably just have to put it down to experience.
  10. A bit off topic as I’m in Australia, but I’ve just effectively been ripped off $1,500 (about £750) by AirAsia, ably assisted by booking.com. I booked a return flight to Bali for my wife and I departing Perth on 4th August and returning 9th August through booking.com back in June. On Tuesday I got an email from booking.com (from an outfit they use called GoToGate that I think they own) telling me the outbound flight had been cancelled by AirAsia, no reason given. The only flight replacement offered was for 9th August, self-evidently useless as that was the day we were supposed to return. I immediately contacted GoToGate by phone and email asking them to sort out a better flight. After being fobbed off in repeated phone calls and emails I concluded that it might be best to cancel on the basis that I had not been offered a suitable replacement flight, and then rebook. I was worried that if it took too long all suitable flights coinciding with our hotel booking would be full. By this stage I had tried to contact AirAsia but got nowhere with their AI called Bo, partially because I didn’t book direct with them and partially because it is a really terrible AI. Anyway I asked GoToGate to cancel the booking and got an email to say that a cancellation had been requested. Rather naively think it would all be sorted I rebooked suitable flights. I have now received an email from GoToGate saying they are unable to contact AirAsia to change or cancel the booking and that I should contact them myself! There appears to be no way to do this, AirAsia only really provide the AI and it is useless, particularly in my situation. So I have now booked the same travel twice without any real prospect of getting my money back on the original flights. It seems that many others have found themselves in a similar position with AirAsia, and I obviously won’t be using them again in the future. Losing the money is bad enough but what really rankles is that AirAsia gain by not providing a suitable customer service. That booking.com are unable to contact AirAsia and speak to someone to resolve the problem beggars belief. I’m pretty sure this sort of thing will become more widespread as AI takes over customer service in many sectors. It really is not the same as speaking to an actual person. Does this kind of thing happen in the UK/EU?
  11. Rather nobody than the overpaid crap we seem to sign these days. With the up and coming youth this is the best chance we’ve had in ages to get back on an even keel financially/PSR-wise. Still a reasonable chance of promotion if we don’t get too many points deducted.
  12. It looks as if he’s got some decent young talent to work with, let’s hope he uses it well. Good luck Marti.
  13. I’m not sure normality will ever resume as it was, and even if it does, it’s probably only a matter of time before they elect some other crackpot based on the latest set of conspiracies. The UK, EU, Canada, Australia and other, more stable democracies should band together and work as fast as possible to remove any sort of dependence on the US.
  14. Yes, strong enough you’d think, but surely Monga in a starting position somewhere if he turns out as good as he promises. Somehow always worry about injuries for the young lads. Do think we need a striker. I suppose Skipp is good enough for the Championship as long as he puts in a shift. Can’t afford to sell him due to PSR.
  15. We seem to have so much youth talent coming through, do we really need anyone for the Championship this season apart from maybe a striker. Need to get rid of the dead wood mainly I’d say, and hang on to the best of the rest where possible. Edit: just noticed the post above.
  16. What a weird crackpot world we live in, especially since Covid.
  17. Who’s this I’m watching from NATO absolutely sucking the shit out of Trump’s arse? Quite sickening. Edit: Secretary General of NATO
  18. From watching many episodes of Air Crash Investigations I understand that there are actually two devices. One records cockpit voice conversations and the other records aircraft technical data.
  19. Monumental change in Australian politics. The Liberal/Nationals coalition has split. They have held power for long periods in Australia but were reduced to a rump in the recent Labor landslide. Shorn of the boat-anchor of the Nationals, the Liberals may actually be able to finally shake off their pathological hatred of renewables and other progressive policies and perhaps start to reclaim some of their metropolitan support, though it’s difficult to see how they could form government apart. It will be interesting to see what direction they take on their own. I think this would be helpful for democracy as a sitting government do need to be kept honest.
  20. Are there any true benefits of Brexit? Genuine question.
  21. The script couldn’t have been better written. Jamie Vardy delivering his 200th goal for the club on his last home appearance. Congratulations to him and best wishes for the future.
  22. Good result against a side doing well. Not overly impressed with Forest but it would be churlish not to acknowledge that they’ve had a great season. Fair to say we finished looking the better side. Such a shame Monga’s effort didn’t score!
  23. Holy shit! No idea if this is authentic or not, just came across it on YouTube.
  24. I’ve never found Dutton likeable, but I will give him credit for his gracious speech conceding the election. A massive point of distinction between the proper democracies (like UK, Australia, Canada) and the shite setup they’ve now got in the States. Last time I looked at the democracy index the US was described as a “flawed democracy”.
