  1. Perhaps there are lots of financially savy people making savings. Just not the ones moaning to me
  2. This, absolutely. It's the sheer volume. I did, in a previous life, work in IT in Financial Services. If a good number of people reported the same issue, we believed it was the system, not the user. Rather than the times when the computer didn't work because it wasn't switched on types We did have people who had their fingers in the till. On the very rare occasion it happened, it was quite a shock. Usually, yes, they were of exemplary character. A lot of investigating happened to be sure it was theft and not a computer error before action was taken. I might be cynical but based on previous miscarriages of justice and cover up's, I'll bet no-one is ultimately held accountable. Primarily, they need to sort out quashing the convictions and compensation for the people involved. How that's still ongoing in abhorrent. I genuinely thought, when the report came out in 2019, they had sorted it all out.
  3. Is the policyholder reimbursing you this time, though?
  4. I don't mean those people, either, because that's very true and unfortunate but it's not everyone doing it. Perhaps I just know a few whingers!
  5. I'll make clear that the following doesn't apply to anyone doing their absolute best, barely heating and eating and genuinely struggling. The Netflix thing just reminded me of some scenarios. Some people are not very financially aware and haemorrhaging money on stuff like that though, MSE had a question recently on action people had taken to improve their finances, people were saying they'd looked at bank statements and cancelled old unwanted subscriptions and things they'd forgotten. People were reporting on £100's of stuff. How can you not notice you're paying £25 a month for something? Also, I've encountered people saying they aren't doing well financially, serious complaining, just before whipping out a brand new iPhone, telling you about the 4 takeaways they have a week, while watching Sky and Netflix or their numerous nights in the pub. Maybe it's just a small minority of people I've encountered, but it does irk me. If you're lucky enough to be doing ok, you still have to choose your priorities, save on A and spend on B. Again, definitely not directed at those genuinely struggling or to suggest cancelling Netflix will get you a house etc
  6. A dormer bungalow is a great idea. Obviously none of us know your day to day challenges but the only things that immediately came to mind, is the hip surgery guaranteed to significantly improve mobility? Is there a possibility that there might be days where stairs could be very difficult in the future? If you went for a bungalow, do you have family where you could visit and 'borrow' the stairs regularly? Also, do you need lots of additional support equipment, which requires going up and down the stairs. I'm probably biased toward a bungalow because I live in one and taking stuff upstairs/downstairs is alien and cumbersome.
  7. It was fun. For one season. A bit like the Championship is this season. Win most games, leave. But the experience of the Championship early 2000's to the season before promotion was mainly dreadful.
  8. Drugs are very, very bad for you....
  9. I wish I had known this before paying £1800 for my dog to have his MRI......which didn't find any of the scary things the vet suggested. He needed a tooth out. Another £600. Which did at least make my dentist costs seem slightly more reasonable. Only slightly, mind.
  10. Just to get ongoing or still to do projects on the house completed.
  11. Wholly with you. Highly annoying and totally selfish. If I'm in an area to be enjoyed by all, I'm no longer enjoying it if I'm being bombarded with other people playing music. I also find people walking along with music playing loudly on speakerphone very annoying, get some headphones!
  12. Either we weren't genuinely interested or couldn't guarantee the game time Liverpool were looking for.
  13. Fair point, but swapping places would also be nice.
  14. I'd prefer a lower league or Championship draw. Give the squad players and those returning from injury game time. Alves and Braybrooke might be ready for a game by the end of Jan. We've currently to negotiate winning the league games with injuries and the AFCON/ASIA trophy. We can do lower team Prem tests once we've secured promotion and in later Cup rounds.
  15. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-67907549 A far greater man than a celebrity. I'm mainly including him as he undertook my Aunt's kidney transplant, which I think was late 60's early 70's, so very remarkable at the time.
  16. Announcement for March games isn't due until mid Feb according to the EFL site.
  17. Thanks. Couldn't make out the "how you scored that goal'.
  18. Started watching tonight, 2 episodes in. It's just shocking, beyond comprehension that the PO/Fujitsu failed to notice such a fundamental system flaw and persecuted the staff.
  19. Can anyone confirm the words for Cannon's song today?
  20. This is definitely in the 'must win' category.
  21. I'd like a lower league team in the next round, Prem tests can wait. That would enable us to utilise the squad players more, as we did today and, if the likes of Alves and Braybrooke are back, give them game time too.
  22. Is that 'hey baby' chant one of ours?
  23. No more suspicious than Epstein's suicide...
