Not to mention they've got rid of several defenders already... maybe Arsenal have a genius new system that disposes with the need to play a defence... Going to be worth watching their opening games, see if they've really cocked up or have it all covered.

It's a bit of a test for ourselves too. If we play the likes of Everton, West Ham and Wolves, and fail to perform, then it will show we've been deluding ourselves (or getting carried away with our own hype). Otoh no reason why we can't nick points off the likes of Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal. Going to be a very interesting season.

That would be the custard on the cake, if we could offload to the Wolves.

Strange one this (talking about the £20 million tag) Trippier flying out to Madrid to sign for Atletico.
-
It's the cost of replacing him we should be wary of. Only a few years back £25 million may have seemed high for a defender, but the market since then has gone sky high.

Ok, looks likely that Harry's on his way. I think most of us could live with that, so long as the club gets a good sum.

I'm guessing he supported one of the Brummie clubs as a kid (Villa maybe?) Can't really expect him to have the same feeling for Leicester as Lineker. Different backgrounds.

Yep. I remember the Arsenal coming to Filbert Street with good old Kenny Sansom as full back. That particular day Lynex made him look Sunday league class.

Fair does. You've outdone my unlikely scenario.

It's more important than that (as per Bill Shankly).

Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst!

One day we will buy "The Big Show-pony"!!!

The big clubs swoop in towards the end of the window and sign up Tielemans, Maddison, Ricardo and Chilwell. Meanwhile we just about manage to sign a couple of championship players. Am I being too pessimistic?

Champions League Final - Who do you want to win?

So long as neither of them win the EPL, we should be happy. On balance I'd prefer Pool, to keep the universe in balance... (Spurs always choke at the end...well in a normal year). -

Premier League Thread 2018/19 stuff it in here.

They're not top of my *dislike* table (clubs like Forest and Millwall are streets ahead for obvious reasons) but I do understand why Spurs and Wolves annoy so many. They do seem to attract a certain type of arrogant fan with high levels of entitlement mixed with delusion. Well I've met a few like that and I guess others here have done so too. -
I wouldn't describe it as wrong, but it feels "awkward" for those who follow Leicester. Normally would wish MoN all the best of luck in a new job, but for some reason I can't in this instance... even though I can understand why he'd be keen to make such a move.

Didn't stay long with us, but we saw that his "rep" was genuine. Would have loved to see him and Roy Keane in the same football game. -
You may be right. Plus the word is people felt it would be better to get an away game over and done with before a home match. Just that nothing feels right at the moment.

A tragic accident and leaves many of us in shock and without words (even though we did not know the people personally). It's not much of a consolation, but at least the 'copter didn't crash on a house or queue of cars. Hard to believe that this could have been even worse.

I've consistently been one of the Puel-In brigade, and to a certain extent I think he's managed the club well. However defence has not been his strongest element - ironic, considering his reputation in coming to the club as someone who puts together boring teams that eke out low-scoring draws. This dodgy defence we seem to have developed, and our alarming tendency to concede an early goal, fills me with forboding for the Arsenal game. If we manage to get a draw, that will seem like a moral victory. I fear a drubbing.
