  1. Cheers, I ended up submitting the lower reading and they seem to have accepted it and given me a bill. Edit: I actually bothered to read the bill and they'd done what you suggested and given me an estimated reading slightly higher than the previous one. I contacted their chat and they've fixed it all, very quickly and easily, thanks for the tip.
  2. British gas emailed me to ask for meter readings today, I do it every 3 months, last one being in May. Now, I clearly entered the one in May wrong, as this time my meter for my gas is less than what I submitted last time. I've never had this before, anyone have any idea what happens in this scenario? Cheers.
  3. At this stage I have no idea who to vote for. I've had 8 different bits of election literature posted through my door, all of them from the lib dems, a party I can't vote for for personal reasons. Two of them were delivered to me by name, one of them hand written (which I found a bit creepy tbh). All have gone straight into recycling. I grew up in a strong tory household, who are now all voting remain. I won't vote remain. I've noticed a lot of lib dem signs around my area (a safe tory seat), but in the past few days there's been a hell of a lot of reform signs gone up. The tactical vote site seems to indicate lib dem as the way to get the tory out, but even they don't seem too sure and only updated it a few days ago. Either way as I said I won't ever vote for them. I'll probably vote Labour, but again not for any reason other than because I don't want to vote for the others more.

    Work dilemma

I totally agree, I've been guilty of this my whole life Without going into too much detail, this company is massive and they are undertaking, in their words, the biggest project of it's kind ever inside Europe (no idea if this is true). Due to delays they are also forking out over 12 million a month to the old system owners after missing the deadline to complete. So their priority is to get the project done. What I've made is a small addon to what they are implementing (software that runs their entire network, owned by an American company). It makes an enormous difference to this specific job, however the project itself is so massive and all encompassing it's unlikely to be noticed higher up without some real force from people more senior than myself. I am in an (almost) entry-level job within one site, there's about 30 sites nationally. My most senior manager available to chat is a shift manager, noone more senior is ever available locally. The more I think about it the less likely I think I'll get more than a thank you. To be honest if my site know what I've done and it opens opportunities to me locally I think I'd be happy. I do know its worth a lot to them, but perhaps the timing isn't great.

    Work dilemma

I made it in my own time at home on a personal laptop and tested it on a training system (website) provided to us which we can access from home. I did it to make my own job easier and then saw its potential. I haven't been able to have any meaningful discussions with anyone yet, however it was approved for internal testing at our site with the look to put it out nationwide, with me controlling it (I am still the only one with actual access to the tool, I've set it up for other people to use myself). My colleagues have all heaped praise on it, it's made a job go from noone wanting to ever do it to the only one people want to do. I'd estimate it's halved the time it takes to do that specific role, and cut mistakes to almost zero. I don't think I will really get anything out of it, as I said previously it's a small part of an absolutely enormous project the company is undertaking, just hoping the senior team at my site comprehend what I have achieved and the benefit to their site it will generate. With that in mind in hoping to chat to someone this week.
  7. Hope he slays.
  8. Should go for Juan Carlos Carcedo if he leaves.

  12. Blurring the Windows logo really adds to it. Superb.
  13. Years & Years had some summertime pop bangers so this is thoroughly disappointing.
  14. If this was number one in Greece for a few weeks, I feel quite sorry for shop workers over there. Imagine this playing every hour.

    Work dilemma

I had the offer to join the project multiple times, but its working away from home week after week for a year, and due to personal life it's not an option for me. I'm not really sure what I want. Perhaps better job prospects within my local area. As I mentioned I went to university and got a decent technical degree, and although I say it myself, I'm a clever bloke, but have always doubted myself and held myself back and stuck to comfort and familiarity. I did it myself at home over a few evenings, sat in the sun with a pint. They allowed access to a training system outside the local network so I've been playing around with it, there's a few other bits I've been working on but this is most significant. Creating this tool is absolutely nothing to do with my job or any role I have within this temporary project. I made it to make my own job easier once the depot converts systems and realised its potential afterwards.

    Work dilemma

It's something I considered, however time constraints with the project, and scope (its only valid within this company), i don't believe it is an option. This is something I hadn't thought about. I do have a senior manager in my depot who I get on with very well. I had only considered discussing this with members of the project but now you all mention it, I could get some advice from him and perhaps support with furthering it. He would also be able to help with costs, savings etc. Thanks all.
  19. Got a bit of a work dilemma. I've worked 1 job my whole life, I'm still there now. I recently got to (partly) join a massive project the company is undertaking. Joining this project has enabled me to move on from the same manual labour job I've done for 10 years, to an office job within the same building. It's less money but better job. I went to uni and got a decent degree, but always stayed in the same job as the money was very good. I've always doubted myself and just felt comfortable staying somewhere I know. This project is to completely replace the computer systems that run the warehouses, nationwide. 20+ depots. I noticed something missing from the new system, which every single depot has complained about. I have created a tool that does exactly what is missing, which works without fault. The software company charge 100k+ for any additions that were missed on the original brief. This thing I've created turns a 30 minute (and longer) job into a 10 second job. In this industry time is money. When I first created it and saw that it worked I was so bloody happy. I told the local project manager, who wanted to set up a zoom meeting with a training manager of the same team, with the look to roll it out nationally. This has yet to happen. I know how this company works, and if I just show them and give them the tool, that's it. A pat on the back, a cheers mate, nothing else. I am extremely shy by nature and avoid confrontation at all cost. But I know what this is worth to them. How do I even approach a discussion about this? For this specific task, what I have made is brilliant. The limited people I've shown are amazed. However this project is enormous. And this is a small part of that project. As I said the only people i have contact with are localised project managers that don't actually know the system that well themselves. If I had that meeting yesterday, I would've given them it on the spot. My local part of the project ends in 2 weeks. After that, I'm back to the day job. The project moves on, potentially with my creation and i get nothing out of it. This is the only place i've worked. Its not in my nature to kick up a fuss. But I can see the value of this to them. Now i really don't know what to do. How do I approach it. How do I talk to them about it. I struggle with awkward conversations. I'm not thinking they should pay me an enormous amount of money for it, but I want more than what I know I will get. Any advice greatly appreciated.
  20. 3-0 is always a dangerous scoreline.
