If I lived in Belfast, I’d be a lot more afraid that my life was in danger from violence in the streets, setting houses and cars etc in fire than from an immigrant in the streets to be fair. Just saying like….

I do think Burnham could be interesting. As I say, I think Labour are just missing the side of them to create that link to the public, communicate what they are doing and highlight their achievements to drown out the noise coming from elsewhere. Burnham is capable (very popular in his current role) and more charismatic. Not saying this in a way that like you say, not wanting someone who is all charisma and no ability to back it up.
-
Yeah this is fair. In some ways he likely has plenty of strengths that might make him suited to a senior position in the cabinet without being the ‘main man’. I have sympathy as labour have been in less than 2 years, following 14 years of another government implementing their own policies. All this in the backdrop of the domestic issues like the Southport attacks and subsequent riots in the first month or so, increasing tensions stirred up by the likes of Reform and international chaos with Russia and then Trump coming back into power and causing mayhem. It’s got to be tough. I think we need to see more tangible things that people can see to their benefit in terms of cost of living. And opportunities for young people. But I do believe a government needs some time to implement their ideas and changes and may need more than one terms to do so. But they must communicate what they are doing and blow their trumpet so to speak which is where this current labour government also need to do much better at, especially in light of the pressure from Reform.

I’m quite happy for him to get replaced by someone like Burnham (by election pending) if it means Labour can get their popularity back up, as I believe as a party and what they stand for, they are our best bet going forward. Extreme politics, left or right is not going to solve anything in my opinion. But why do people have such an issue with him I have to ask? I admit to not following the details of what is happening day to day closely with politics but I agree with the calls he has made on an international level (such as refusing to bow to pressure and send us to war with the US), immigration is down generally, NHS seems to be improving (easier to get appointments) and we are seeing swift action to deal with people causing riots and unrest. He doesn’t seem to be a particularly strong speaker and I’m aware there are things that have been gone back on. But the level of hate he gets does seem….disproportionate, in my own humble opinion of course.
-
He just sounds like an utter arsehole. By 41 you should be mature so immaturity is not an excuse. Agreed he is unsuited to politics.

Sorry I was agreeing with the first line of his post I quoted with yours, the reference to 2014 ish, when Pearson had come back and we were building. That was personally when I noticed more people turning up and the stadium full. Yes I agree it wasn’t 2016, the crowds were up by then. I definitely think there are many people who have season tickets though who are KP era and not experienced the club before then.

Sounds like you could do with James to bring your average ages of signings down to something below pension age
-
What Cropston says Sol, or that was my observation anyway. I can pinpoint when I first personally noticed the influx and it was the home leg against Watford in the playoffs in 2013. Up until relegation to L1, crowds has been fairly sparse and then the big games that L1 season like Leeds were packed. Crowds improved there on but that Watford game I just remember finding myself surrounded by people I can only assume had never attended a football match with the nonsense they were coming out with!

It’s really not. At the very least, if he puts the work in and wants to succeed, it will elevate him to at least getting loan moves at a higher level than we will offer him to sit on our bench anyway. The absolute worst thing he could do for his career would be to stay with us. We are a shambolically run L1 club with a poor approach to youth development.
-
Did anyone think it’s be any different? From the moment Rowett was brought in on a deal to ‘the end of the season’, it was obvious that once again, we would end up in this situation. Perhaps had he come in, been convincing and we’d had a good run of results/performances, we’d have had a ‘extended to next season’ much more promptly. But the minute they have to go looking for a new manager, it’s pure incompetence. And this is what, the 4th summer in a row we are in this position. Yes, Maresca wasn’t really on them unless you dig deeper into him wanting to get out but it was Chelsea so that’d be a stretch. Last summer and after Cifuentes have been the absolute pits so it’s clear they are getting worse. Thinking about all these managerial changes over the last 4 summers (not to even mention in season), it makes me think we might have been better to keep Smith on after the first relegation in 2023. At least he’s a builder and he would likely have steadied us. We obviously got a brief burst from Maresca but it hasn’t exactly benefited us in the long run.

I saw the same rage baiting headline but it appears you have fallen for it! I read the article and it’s not about England flags and other flags. The regulations relate to all flags. The right wing media have sensed an opportunity to stir up anger by posting it in a way that makes it sounds like it is about England flags. Who’d have thought they’d do that!
-
Yeah it’s just a joke tournament. Hopefully the next World Cup (Spain/Portgual/Morocco) will be better although a bit of a farce it’s also got some games in South America. South America is a good host continent don’t get me wrong, but it feels a bit too spread out. Unfortunately 2034, Saudi will probably be crap and in the winter again. Euros look ok, UK and Ireland 2028 and Italy/Turkey in 2032.

There’s not a single one on there that is realistic. Completely got his head in the clouds! -
I’ve always had some enthusiasm for the World Cup (and Euros) as they approach but days away from this starting and I haven’t got any. No idea what the fixtures are and without looking, couldn’t say when England are playing. I don’t know if it’s the fatigue of the last couple of seasons with Leicester, the fact it’s in the US or the kick off times, likely all 3. But yeah, it’s a shame.
-
No worries. My view is, as I have said, I’d rather they f*** off without tanking us any further and we can have a new owner and move forward. I don’t believe any Leicester fan actually wants us to go into administration for the sake of it. Job losses, reputational damage etc. Just like 2002 still gets brought up as a stick to beat us with, albeit by Forest and Cov fans. But I do think that even I am a bit naive thinking that will happen and deep down, it is the end game for the KP era. So I can just understand the view from some that not that they want it, but if they truly believe it is inevitable, to ‘get it over with’. It’s an important distinction. Ultimately the job losses and damage to the community and local businesses etc won’t be because of or down to what a few people say on an online forum. It is on Aiyawatt, Rudkin, the useless brother (Apichet?), the mother who has no clue or how to keep her son in check and everyone else involved in the club at that level.

Man Utd are linked with him…. It’s not blinded by hype. It’s looking logically rather than with the negative blinkers many have that there’s a player who progressed through each level with flying colours and then yeah, is being now written off as crap because he couldn’t single handedly turn our toxic shit show around. I don’t think a part season of games for us this season constitutes getting his chance if we are writing him off. He will get out this summer and spend his career (injuries permitting) at a higher level than this club does in the same period. -
Where did I say I want it? I clearly have said I don’t want it. I am just explaining what people mean as you don’t seem to quite get what they are saying.
-
I’ve been one for wanting to give managers a chance. Cooper I held nothing against for his time at Forest and was hopeful his approach would be ok for picking up results and to be fair did for a bit. It was more the signings under him that is what I had an issue with like Ayew and Skipp for what we paid and his insistence on experience. Cifuentes I was quickly positive about as I saw him as along the Rohl lines of his work at QPR. And he was awful. And Rowett I thought would pick up the results needed to keep us up when he came in. But this is the one I just can’t see any positives in. Genuinely coming from a patient individual as above, but if Martin is appointed, Martin out from day one for me.

But you’re basing that on performances in a toxic side, the worst that we have ever had. It was no place for a young player trying to get started. Not all players reach their potential but his potential is definitely PL, not necessarily top of but not just Championship either. I think whilst he was flawed, he was blamed more than was proportionate for his part in it. In terms of the second part, he’s not getting that here is he? What’s he getting playing at L1 level. He will probably get a move to a PL club and even if he then gets a loan to a high end Championship club to get what he should have had this season, which was a full season of development at the top end of the Championship to see whether he can then step up again, it will be a great career move for him. It’s a low risk move for a low fee for a PL club who will view his career as a whole so far and potential rather than being reactionary like our fans and turning on him because he wasn’t able to fix our problems. -

Come on, of course Nelson is going. I am surprised anyone actually thought he’d stay. And by the way, a year left on his contract, us being in a weak negotiating position as a club, dropping him and fans not having him. The the fee will be absolutely pitiful. -
Look we’d all rather he find a little bit of decency in his otherwise miserable character to sell us and leave now. Nobody would actively ‘want’ administration and the effects that come with it including people’s jobs and the indignity and reputational damage it comes with. Those like Spanner73, well they can confirm if that is the case, but I believe they would also feel as I have said above. But, there is the feeling now that it is inevitable and that administration and being taken over as at least a going concern, is the best case scenario and going out of business altogether the worst. We are not functioning as a business, we are essentially insolvent in terms of money coming and out. So all those people are saying is, if it is inevitable, just end the pain so we can move forwards. I said this to someone yesterday but don’t mistake someone wanting to get it out the way and move forward to a brighter future as just wanting the club to tank.
-
To be fair, we have now reached a point where this ownership is so bad, the pool in which something coming it could be objectively worse in terms of club performance is pretty much, if not already, dried out.
-
Those saying it’s a coup, come on. You have to ask why he is ready to drop to L1 having been at Rangers and in the PL and a Championship promotion. Because his reputation is in pieces. He is the manager equivalent of our owner and DoF. An absolute joke in football circles. A one way ticket to L2 this is….
-
I doubt people will be concerned. Objectively, it won’t get better until we get a change of ownership and at that point, they will be a fair few who will probably not renew who have now, due to KP leaving so swings and roundabouts.
