  1. I stopped during Covid at the age of 43 or so. You can do it!
  2. What a dickhead. His employer has a right to expect him to work though, and with the shortage of players they made that call. Once he is prosecuted / sentenced they can and no doubt will take disciplinary action.
  3. 1993 man, best year for alternative music ever. Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, the list goes on and on. As a side note I'm seeing PWEI in a month or so at Freo Social!
  4. Its football, if you are only a goal up with a few minutes to go the opposition will go for it. Sometimes it will work. Even against Man City.
  5. It did of course, but mostly it led to the changes in behaviors which it was hoping to. Most smokers despite the noise still went to the pub, and popped outside when they wanted a smoke. I would bet you hard cash though that the fact that young adults are in a smoke free environment socialising massively reduced the numbers taking up smoking.
  6. Those are supernoodles you numpty!
  7. They also get the credit for being the ones taking the fight to the US and the UK! Heroes of the revolution etc. We cannot be seen to be doing nothing though. It all started as they were firing missiles towards Israel and the US shot them down. The problem being they have very cheap missiles & drones and the US/UK are shooting them down with missiles which cost $1M each. Not sustainable, hence bombing them instead, much cheaper.
  8. No one wants to back the loser. What would be the point? He is moving on to winning in 4 years. Thank goodness for the 8 years maximum term is all I can say.
  9. Yeah I watched it much to my irritation. Shame but Rublev really raised his game in the 4th and 5th sets.
  10. This is the post I came to this thread for. Imagine Kane joining just as Bayern start dropping down the table. Too funny.
  11. Even without the US Russia is completely incapable of taking over Eastern Europe. They way Poland are upping their game they could probably beat them on their own. Whether the shift of power in Eastern Europe is a good thing is another question. NATO countries have had time to invest and most of them failed to do so. Trump only said out loud what the US have thought for a long time about Europe taking them for granted.
  12. Why would we? The replacement of blast furnaces with electric arc furnaces (which is the reason for the job losses) is exactly the plan and is required to continue long term steelmaking in the UK, which is a strategically important capability. "Unions fighting for every job" is therefore exactly counter the environmental goal no?
  13. Just realised this Aussie guy I’m watching is Katie Boulter’s boyfriend. Hope he wins! He’s punching.
  14. Haha. I liked Obama a lot, but he made a number of mistakes on the international stage particularly in Syria which we are still dealing with the repercussions of.
  15. I suspect you are overestimating the amount of joined up thinking going on.
  16. You leave Romania out of this! Yeah it is pretty crazy.
  17. Who do we back if Iran and Pakistan start a war? My head hurts! Seriously though, Iran seems to think it can act with impunity, so perhaps they should be the adult and stop it.
  18. I'm feeling a little dizzy just thinking about it.
  19. Its tragic that a kid can be reliant for their survival on whether one overworked person in a hurry to make their next appointment thinks "something is up here, I am going to call the police" and hangs around for an hour or more. Where the hell are the family, friends, Neighbours?
  20. Or possibly the complete opposite, nobody ****ing knows, and that scares the shit out of the opposition. Especially vs Obama who could be guaranteed to do completely the wrong thing at every opportunity.
  21. Tough gig in Finland where it is dark most of the bloody year.
  22. The economy did well under Trump too, wages > inflation, low interest rates etc. and without the massive economic stimulus. He also clamped down on immigration which Biden has let run riot - very popular with the majority of Americans. A lot of people still want to drain the swamp! And they don't give a shit about him personally - and they can see the hypocrisy of the Democrats who said F all about Bill Clintons indiscretions. I dont think it is that hard to see his appeal - and the Democratic left have left themselves wide open with their overly liberal attitudes imo. Its a shame but I think he will be back as President this time next year.
  23. The problem it seems to me with the US presidential system right now is the man the people want is (Strong! so Strong!) seems unable to appoint competent people to do the actual work as he falls out with them every 5 minutes, while he man in the job they think is not up to it (old, weak, cant speak properly) is actually a political master at surrounding himself with competent people who are doing the actual work as they are in some sort of effective consensus. This is what happens when you have thousands of appointed leaders in all arms of government, instead of a competent professional civil service.
  24. What is this the 1930's?
  25. Oooh suits you sir.
