Well I can't deny the thought crossed my mind too. With the numerous examples of racism being rife in football in England, I am sure it has a tangible effect on how some players are judged. Then again, it seems to me like (English?) football fans have a nasty habit of being harsh against their own academy players too (Chilwell, Mattock, Schlupp, KDH, McAteer, Choudhury, Barnes etc all spring to mind). Then you have Vestergaard who's still getting lots of stick despite maybe being our player of the season. All this tells me that fans are generally extremely critical and often hateful too. It's bizarre that the same people are called 'supporters'.

He's missed two chances! I mean, come on! Are the same people forgetting Mavs sitter a few moments prior to Daka as wel Kramaric is a far more recent example of a striker, who in terms of ability and price tag is far more comparable to Daka. Like Akinbiyi he is remembered as a striker being particularly wasteful. I could start reeling off Leicester strikers not being clinical and hitting wayward shots, but why should I? It's absurd in the first place.

You're trying to open a can of worms here...
  4. People on here talk about the players being bottlers. A quick look in here suggests the real bottlers are amongst our fan base.

Are you being serious? Daka has 1,22 G+A per 90 mins this season. It was 0,6 in the previous two seasons. Akinbiyi had roughly 0,24. It's just insulting to compare them

    Yup, succinctly put.

Of course he couldve missed. But half the work of the striker is being in the right place at the right time. Again, why this need to play Daka down? It's effing bizarre.

So Vardy's honking miss against Boro is glossed over then? Daka has been in the firing line for so long here and now that he's actually playing regularly and performing well on the whole, he still gets singled out for his mistakes. The Akinbiyi comparison is so far off to the point where I'm getting suspicious about the nature of the criticism...
  9. Gets and assist and scores a legit goal. His glaring miss was the only blot on a fine performance. Mavididi was trash with his final ball all game as was Fatawu.
  10. Cov H, Rotherham A, QPR A were all scored in the 80th minute or later. So yeah, we've had a fair share.
  11. Yeah, we did. Oh well. Leaves a bitter taste. Here's hoping we regain composure and finish the job well.
  12. Footballers can be a bit thick and need extra repetitions
  13. Another sporting fallacy...
  14. In the first half of the season, we were the ones turning games around by starting slow and scoring late goals though. It just seems like our games have goals scored as well as conceded lated in games - and yeah, there's maybe a hint that we're not closing games out efficiently, but football very often gives a chance or two to the losing side (unless they're completely inept) in tight games. We've been very unfortunate to get punished even by slight mistakes. In retrospect, this will be good experience for when this happens more frequently in the PL...
  15. Emotions run high, that's all. Also no need to overstate defeat. It happened in a painful manner, but I would have thought we were poor and won the lottery if the roles were reversed. A lot of our football tonight was great to watch.
  16. Our finishing was not good enough (again). We kept the most in-form team quiet for large periods and created a lot of chances. Much of the groundwork tonight was A+. That's without mentioning a legit goal chalked off. But Mav, Fatawu and Daka will no doubt be kicking themselves, and rightly so. They've previously shown to have the clinical edge, so it's disappointing they were so wasteful. We were not good enough, obviously, but we should have been. Again, not worried long term about this season.
  17. From the assistant refs view it inevitably looks a bad, bad mistake. From the initial TV view, it did look like Hamza got the second to last touch.
  18. Gambler's fallacy. It's still bad luck that deflections result in a goal. All you can ask your defenders to do is to block shots and close down space. You obviously need to credit Ipswich (x2) and Leeds for applying late pressure, but the probability of conceding that many deflected goals is very low. Did we back off too much on those games towards the end? Or did we just tire out and lose concentration? It's never quite that easy to say. But just because it has happened multiple times, it's not necessarily a case of something being wrong. We could probably make adjustments to reduce the probability even further, but they're already very low. Just because it has happened three times in against our main competition doesn't mean it's a worrying trend.
  19. Yes, our fortune has been dumpster level and we're still pissing the league. I'd imagine we would be confirming promotion next week if we had just average luck.
  20. Then Gray's strike would have taken three deflections on it's way to goal. What's your point?
  21. As sickening as that defeat was, all those calling the team bottlers can go do one. The players and staff have done exceptionally well this season and any objective look will tell that we've been undone by some horrendous bad luck and inept officiating on more than a few occasions this season. Do the players deserve flak for not taking chances? Sure, I guess. But in the context of the season, to call them bottlers, is ridiculous. We're still two Leeds wins & Leicester losses ahead of second with a quarter of the season to go. ALL of us would have bitten the hand off if offered this at the start of the season. Punch or scream into the pillow, then calm yourself and look at the bigger perspective.
  22. Argh go wet your bed. That was an unreal stroke of bad fortune for the second goal. Are the team to blame for incompetent officials as well? At 2-0 the game is dead and buried.
  23. The amount of times we get punished this season is quite astounding. How we weren't 3 or 4-0 up this half is difficult to understand. Edit: ahahahahha I can only laugh and cry and shout. This is unreal. Wtf have we done to upset the gods? Un-fvcking-real
